How Endings Work In Cyberpunk 2077

Every ending is chosen during the final main mission, Nocturne Op55N1.

Before meeting Hanako Arasaka at Embers, it's highly recommended that you complete all major side content, especially questlines involving:

  • Johnny Silverhand
  • Panam Palmer
  • Rogue Amendiares
  • Phantom Liberty

Completing these stories unlocks additional ending paths and gives you access to every possible conclusion.

After finishing an ending, the game returns you to a save before Embers, allowing you to experience the remaining endings without starting a new playthrough.

The Sun Ending

Achievement

The Sun

Requirements

Complete:

  • Chippin' In
  • Blistering Love

During Chippin' In, tell Johnny:

  • "Yeah, I'll call Rogue."

During Nocturne Op55N1, choose:

  • "Think you and Rogue should go."
  • "[Take pseudoendotrizine] I am. Do your thing, Johnny."

Continue through Rogue's ending route and, after reaching Mikoshi, choose:

  • "Enter the well."

This ending sees V become a legendary figure within Night City.

The Star Ending

Achievement

The Star

Requirements

Complete Panam's questline:

  • Riders On The Storm
  • With A Little Help From My Friends
  • Queen Of The Highway

During Nocturne Op55N1, choose:

  • "Gonna ask Panam for help."
  • "[Take omega-blockers] Yep. Gonna do this with the nomads."
  • "[Stand and call Panam]"

After reaching Mikoshi, choose:

  • "Enter the well."

This ending sees V leave Night City with the Aldecaldos.

Temperance Ending

Achievement

Temperance

Requirements

Reach Mikoshi through:

  • Rogue's path
  • Panam's path
  • Secret Ending path

When presented with the final choice, select:

  • "Cross the bridge and enter Cyberspace forever."

This ending allows Johnny Silverhand to keep V's body while V joins Alt Cunningham beyond cyberspace.

The Devil Ending

Achievement

The Devil

Requirements

Save Goro Takemura during Search And Destroy.

During Nocturne Op55N1, choose:

  • "Think trusting Arasaka's risky but worth it."
  • "[Take omega-blockers] Yeah. Don't be mad."

Later during Where Is My Mind?, players can either:

  • Sign the contract
  • Refuse the contract

Both choices lead to different variations of the Devil ending.

This is generally considered one of the darkest endings in the game.

The Tower Ending

Achievement

The Tower

Requirements

Requires Phantom Liberty.

During the DLC storyline:

  • Spare Songbird
  • Hand Songbird over to Solomon Reed

This unlocks:

Who Wants To Live Forever

Completing that quest grants access to the Tower ending.

Players can also call Reed during Nocturne Op55N1 to begin the Phantom Liberty ending route.

The Tower provides an entirely different future for V and serves as the expansion's exclusive conclusion.

Suicide Ending

Achievement

None

Requirements

During the rooftop conversation in Nocturne Op55N1, select:

  • "Could also just put all this to rest."
  • "[Toss pills] I know. Exactly what we're gonna do."

This ending immediately concludes the story and features unique credit scenes from V's friends and allies.

It is one of the most emotional endings in the game.

Secret Ending: Don't Fear The Reaper

Achievement

Leads to The Sun or Temperance

Requirements

During Chippin' In, select these exact dialogue choices:

  • "Nah, you fucked that up too."
  • "What do you want from me?"
  • "Ok. But as second chances go, this is your last."

Later during Nocturne Op55N1, remain silent during the rooftop conversation with Johnny for approximately five minutes.

Johnny will eventually suggest a new plan.

Choose:

  • "Let's hear this plan."
  • "[Attack Arasaka Tower] Means goin' out with a bang - I like it."

This begins a difficult solo assault on Arasaka Tower.

If you survive and reach Mikoshi, you can then choose either:

  • The Sun
  • Temperance

This is widely considered the game's most challenging ending route.

Which Ending Is Best?

There is no universally accepted best ending.

Many players favor:

  • The Star for its hopeful tone.
  • The Sun for V's legendary status.
  • Temperance for Johnny's character arc.
  • The Secret Ending for its challenge and unique mission.

Each ending reflects different choices, relationships, and priorities throughout your journey across Night City.

Warnings

  • Major story spoilers are unavoidable when pursuing all endings.

  • Missing Rogue's questline locks you out of The Sun ending.

  • The Secret Ending requires specific dialogue choices during Chippin' In.

Rewards

  • All ending achievements

  • Alternate story conclusions
  • Additional lore and character outcomes
  • Access to every major ending path in Cyberpunk 2077
