Demon's Souls — Platinum Walkthrough
Trophy: Slayer of Trophies
All Trophies Obtained
Type: Platinum
Unlock Details
Earn all 36 other trophies in Demon's Souls to unlock the Platinum.

Trophy: Brother-in-Arms
Vanquish Penetrator with Biorr
Type: Bronze
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Penetrator alongside Biorr of the Twin Fangs in Boletarian Palace (1-3: Inner Ward). Before fighting Penetrator, obtain the Iron Key Ring from a Fat Official in 1-3. Return to the locked door near the Tower Knight arena in 1-2, descend into the dungeon, and rescue Biorr from his cell. Once rescued, Biorr will automatically join the Penetrator boss fight. Defeat Penetrator while Biorr is still alive to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Penetrator will often focus on Biorr, giving you plenty of opportunities to attack from behind. Just don't leave your new best friend to do all the work.
Warning
If Biorr dies during the fight, you'll miss the trophy on that attempt. You'll need another playthrough or a backup save to retry.

Trophy: Fists of Legend
Vanquish Dragon God with the Hands of God
Type: Bronze
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Dragon God using the Hands of God weapons in Stonefang Tunnel (2-3: Underground Temple). First, collect the Hands of God in 2-2: The Tunnel City. During the Dragon God encounter, activate both ballistas to bring the boss down. Reduce Dragon God's remaining health until he's nearly defeated, then equip the Hands of God and deliver the finishing blow with them.
Tip
Equip a Hands of God weapon in each hand as a precaution. You don't need to fight the entire battle with them, just finish the boss using the weapons.
Warning
If Dragon God dies before you use the Hands of God, you'll need another playthrough or a backup save to try again.

Trophy: Legacy of the Kings
Obtain the Northern Regalia
Type: Gold
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Forge the Northern Regalia using Blacksmith Ed in 2-1. You'll need three items: Demonbrandt: Obtained from Old King Doran in 1-1. Soulbrandt: Found after defeating the final boss beneath The Nexus. False King Demon Soul: Obtained by defeating Old King Allant in 1-4. After collecting all three, return to Blacksmith Ed and forge the Northern Regalia to unlock the trophy. You must have already given Ed the Searing Demon Soul.
Tip
You can forge Northern Regalia during your first playthrough, provided you leave the final area and return to Ed before triggering the ending.
Warning
Do not consume the False King Demon Soul or trigger the ending before collecting Soulbrandt and returning to the blacksmith. Otherwise, you'll have to complete the required steps in another playthrough.

Trophy: May you be unharmed
Vanquish Maiden Astraea without killing Garl Vinland
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Maiden Astraea without killing Garl Vinland in Valley of Defilement (5-3: Rotting Haven). The safest method is to bring an upgraded bow and plenty of arrows. From the elevated path overlooking the swamp, find a position where you can shoot Maiden Astraea without fighting her heavily armored bodyguard. Keep firing until she's defeated. She can heal herself during the encounter, so bring enough ammunition to finish the job.
Tip
Holy Arrows, purchased from Graverobber Blige in 4-2, are especially useful here. A strong bow also helps overcome Astraea's healing.
Warning
Garl Vinland must remain alive until Astraea is defeated. If you kill him first, you'll need another playthrough or a backup save to retry.

Trophy: Not Fooled
Vanquish the Fool's Idol without hitting any clones
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Fool's Idol without hitting any of her clones in Tower of Latria (3-1: Prison of Hope). During the fight, Fool's Idol creates copies of herself to confuse you. You must attack only the real boss and avoid damaging any clones. The real Fool's Idol casts larger Soul Rays, while her clones use smaller Soul Arrows. You can also identify the copies by locking onto them, which reveals a small health bar above their heads. Defeat the real Fool's Idol without striking a clone to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Take your time identifying the correct target before attacking. The prisoners in the arena may also turn toward the real Fool's Idol, giving you another clue.
Warning
Hitting even one clone invalidates the trophy attempt. You'll need to reload a backup or try again in another playthrough.

Trophy: One Shall Fall
Vanquish the Tower Knight without killing any archers
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Tower Knight without killing any archers during the boss fight in Boletarian Palace (1-2: The Lord's Path). Ignore the archers positioned along the battlements and concentrate entirely on Tower Knight. Attack his ankles until he loses balance and falls backward, then strike his exposed head for massive damage. Repeat until he's defeated. Keep moving to avoid the incoming arrows while attacking.
Tip
Stay close to Tower Knight's feet and watch for his shield attacks. The archers are annoying, but you can survive their attacks by staying mobile and healing when necessary.
Warning
Killing even one archer during the encounter prevents the trophy from unlocking on that attempt. You'll need another playthrough or a backup save to retry.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEkNOvPEcow&list=PLvr_yz_u6YtwSghYEXJDr38kf6Wnwbqdv&index=20&pp=iAQB0gcJCUcMAYcqIYzv

Trophy: One Shall Stand
Vanquish Adjudicator without having him fall down
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Defeat Adjudicator without knocking him down in Shrine of Storms (4-1: Island's Edge). Instead of attacking the wound on Adjudicator's stomach, remain on the upper platforms and use arrows or magic to strike the golden bird perched on his head. Keep dodging his attacks and continue targeting the bird until the boss is defeated.
Tip
A bow or ranged magic makes this trophy much easier. Stay on the upper level and avoid dropping into melee range. The giant demon might look intimidating, but the tiny bird is the real problem.
Warning
If you knock Adjudicator down by attacking his stomach, you'll miss the trophy on that attempt. You'll need another playthrough or a backup save to retry.

Trophy: Road to Possibilities
Give the Searing Demon Soul to Blacksmith Ed
Type: Bronze
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Give the Searing Demon Soul to Blacksmith Ed in Stonefang Tunnel (2-1: Smithing Grounds). You'll obtain the soul after defeating Flamelurker in 2-2. Return to Blacksmith Ed, located at the bottom of the elevator shortcut near the beginning of 2-1, and speak with him until he accepts the soul. This unlocks advanced weapon upgrades and the trophy.
Tip
You'll also need Ed's services to forge the Northern Regalia for Legacy of the Kings. He's probably the most important blacksmith in Boletaria, so try not to accidentally murder him.
Warning
Do not consume the Searing Demon Soul. If you use it for souls instead, you'll need to defeat Flamelurker again in another playthrough.

Trophy: Time for Rolling
Cross the walkway through the Idol's volleys of arrows
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Cross the bridge guarded by the giant arrow-firing ballista in Tower of Latria (3-1: Prison of Hope). Near the end of the area, you'll encounter a walkway where a massive machine fires repeated volleys of arrows. Time your movements between volleys and roll through the incoming arrows until you safely reach the other side. The trophy unlocks once you've successfully crossed the walkway.
Tip
Watch the firing pattern before moving, then roll forward between volleys. Apparently, the prison's security system was designed by someone who really hated visitors.
Warning
Do not disable the ballista by taking the alternate route before crossing its walkway. Doing so prevents you from earning the trophy on that playthrough.

Trophy: Worthy of the Sword
Deliver Makoto to Satsuki
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Deliver the Magic Sword Makoto to Satsuki while Shrine of Storms has Pure White World Tendency. First, collect Makoto from the pit in 4-2: The Ritual Path, where you encounter Saint Urbain. Return to 4-1: Island's Edge, where Satsuki appears near the beginning of the area when the world reaches Pure White Tendency. Speak with him and hand over Makoto to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Make sure Makoto is in your inventory but not equipped when speaking to Satsuki.
Warning
If you're holding Makoto as your equipped weapon, Satsuki can become hostile before you deliver it, preventing the trophy from unlocking on that attempt. He also attacks after receiving the sword, because apparently saying thank you isn't fashionable in Boletaria.

Trophy: Return to Form
Help a player vanquish a boss
Type: Silver
Category: Online
Unlock Details
Help another player defeat a boss through online co-op. After defeating Phalanx and speaking with the Monumental, you'll receive the Blue Eye Stone. While in Soul Form, use it near a boss entrance to place your summon sign. Wait for another player to summon you, then help them defeat the boss to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Try placing your summon sign outside popular early boss arenas, such as Tower Knight. You can also arrange a co-op session with another player if matchmaking is slow.
Warning
This trophy requires online multiplayer access, including PlayStation Plus on PS5.

Trophy: Unwelcome Guest
Vanquish a player as an invader
Type: Silver
Category: Online
Unlock Details
Invade another player's world and defeat the host. First, obtain the Black Eye Stone by defeating an eligible Black Phantom enemy. While in Soul Form, use the stone in an area that supports invasions to enter another player's world. Find and defeat the host to unlock the trophy.
Tip
It's safest to earn this trophy after obtaining the Ally's Ring, since successfully invading and killing another player shifts your Character Tendency toward Black. That can interfere with your Pure White Character Tendency progress. If PvP isn't your specialty, arranging a session with another player can make this trophy considerably less painful. Getting demolished by a stranger who's been playing Souls games since birth isn't everyone's idea of fun.
Warning
Online multiplayer and PlayStation Plus are required.

Trophy: King of Rings
All Rings Obtained
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all 30 rings in Demon's Souls on the same character. Rings can be found throughout Boletaria, obtained from NPC quests, purchased from merchants, or exchanged with Sparkly the Crow. Several rings require special World Tendency or Character Tendency conditions. The most important are the Ally's Ring, awarded by the Monumental at Pure White Character Tendency, and the Foe's Ring, obtained through Mephistopheles' quest at Pure Black Character Tendency. Collect all 30 rings to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Choose the Providential Ring as your starting gift to make the collection easier. If you missed it, you can obtain it by trading a Large Sword of Searching crafted from a Scimitar with Sparkly the Crow. Follow the roadmap's tendency order: complete Pure White World events first, move toward Pure Black World Tendency, obtain the Ally's Ring at Pure White Character Tendency, and finish with the Foe's Ring.
Warning
When the Monumental offers you a quest near the beginning of the game, accept it. You'll need to have accepted the request to receive the Ally's Ring later. Also, obtain the Ally's Ring before shifting your Character Tendency to Pure Black for Mephistopheles. Reversing that process can require considerable extra work.

Trophy: One of the few
Obtain Istarelle
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Obtain the Istarelle weapon in Valley of Defilement (5-1: Depraved Chasm). First, reach Pure White World Tendency in the Valley of Defilement. Return to 5-1 and locate the ladder along the elevated walkway near the area with rats. Climb it and follow the newly accessible path until you reach the cave containing Istarelle. Pick up the weapon to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Defeat the Valley's bosses while playing in Soul Form to help reach Pure White World Tendency. Collect Istarelle before deliberately shifting the world toward Pure Black for your other trophies.

Trophy: Sage's Trophy
All Magic Spells Obtained
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Learn all 22 magic spells in Demon's Souls. Spells can be purchased from Freke's Apprentice, Sage Freke, and Yuria the Witch in The Nexus. You'll need to rescue Freke and Yuria before they become available as teachers. Several spells require Demon Souls obtained from bosses, and some share the same soul requirements. This means you'll need additional boss souls from New Game+ to complete the collection. The trophy unlocks once all 22 spells have been learned on the same character.
Tip
Keep every important boss soul until you're ready to spend it, and use the roadmap to plan your spell purchases. With carefully managed cloud save backups, you can unlock Saint's Trophy, restore your save, and use overlapping Demon Souls toward the remaining spells.
Warning
The Soulsucker spell requires the Maiden in Black Demon Soul, obtained from the ending where you spare her. Make sure you secure this ending reward, especially if you're also pursuing Seekest soul power.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QrggGDki2w

Trophy: Saint's Trophy
All Miracles Obtained
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Learn all 12 miracles in Demon's Souls. Miracles are purchased from the Disciple of God and Saint Urbain in The Nexus. You'll need to rescue Saint Urbain from Shrine of Storms (4-2: The Ritual Path) to access his more powerful miracles. Several miracles require Demon Souls obtained from bosses, while Recovery requires three Colorless Demon Souls, which can be obtained from Primeval Demons in worlds with Pure Black World Tendency. Learn all 12 miracles on the same character to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Some miracles require the same Demon Souls as spells needed for Sage's Trophy. With a properly managed cloud save backup, you can purchase all remaining miracles, unlock this trophy, then restore your save and spend those souls on spells instead.
Warning
Do not consume boss Demon Souls or Colorless Demon Souls without checking their requirements. Also, finish learning your miracles before completing Mephistopheles' assassination quest, since Saint Urbain is one of her targets.

Trophy: Seekest soul power
Embrace the power of the Old One
Type: Gold
Category: Ending
Unlock Details
Embrace the power of the Old One by choosing the alternate ending. After defeating the final boss beneath The Nexus, approach the Maiden in Black and kill her instead of leaving through the fog gate. This triggers the ending required for the trophy.
Warning
The other ending rewards you with the Maiden in Black Demon Soul, which is required to purchase the Soulsucker spell for Sage's Trophy. If you're using cloud save backups, save before choosing the ending, earn this trophy, then restore your save and leave through the fog gate instead. Without a backup, you'll need another playthrough to obtain both ending rewards.

Trophy: A Dash of Sage
Rescue Sage Freke the Visionary
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Rescue Sage Freke the Visionary from Tower of Latria (3-1: Prison of Hope). Near the Fool's Idol boss arena, climb the tower on the right and collect the Prison of Hope Special Key from the upper area. Return to Freke's locked cell on the third floor and use the key to free him. The trophy unlocks after his rescue.
Tip
Freke will move to The Nexus, where he teaches important spells. You'll need his services for Sage's Trophy, so rescuing him is well worth the detour.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejkjFUCa23M

Trophy: Umbasa
Rescue Saint Urbain
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Rescue Saint Urbain in Shrine of Storms (4-2: The Ritual Path). After encountering the first Reaper, locate Patches near a suspicious pit. Allow him to kick you down, then find Saint Urbain trapped below. Defeat the Black Phantom guarding the exit and speak with Urbain to rescue him.
Tip
Saint Urbain returns to The Nexus and teaches miracles needed for Saint's Trophy. Don't attack him during your first playthrough. Getting betrayed by Patches is inconvenient enough without losing your miracle teacher too.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V8CIb0-g2E

Trophy: Witch in the Tower
Rescue Yuria the Witch
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Rescue Yuria the Witch in Boletarian Palace (1-3: Inner Ward). You'll need the complete Official's Set, which consists of the Cap, Clothes, Gloves, and Leggings. Collect these pieces from Fat Officials throughout Boletarian Palace and Stonefang Tunnel. In 1-3, obtain the necessary keys from the Fat Officials and access the tower where Yuria is imprisoned. Equip the entire Official's Set to trick the guard into lowering the staircase. Defeat the guard, remove the disguise, and speak with Yuria to rescue her and unlock the trophy.
Tip
Yuria will relocate to The Nexus and teach several important spells required for Sage's Trophy.
Warning
The PS5 remake requires the entire Official's Set, not just the Cap. Apparently, the guards take their workplace dress code very seriously.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7S04C7cyEw

Trophy: Adjudicator's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Adjudicator"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Adjudicator in Shrine of Storms (4-1: Island's Edge). Adjudicator's weak point is the golden bird sitting on his head. You can attack the wound on his stomach to knock him down and expose the bird, or target it directly using arrows or magic from the upper platforms. Defeat the boss to unlock the trophy.
Tip
For One Shall Stand, you must defeat Adjudicator without knocking him down. Stay on the upper platforms and attack the golden bird with ranged weapons or spells to earn both trophies together. It's a strange fight when the giant demon isn't your real target. The tiny bird is apparently running the entire operation.

Trophy: Armor Spider's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Armor Spider"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Armor Spider in Stonefang Tunnel (2-1: Smithing Grounds). The fight takes place in a narrow tunnel where Armor Spider attacks with fireballs and webs as you approach. Dodge its projectiles and close the distance to attack its head. When the spider begins filling the tunnel with oil, retreat toward the entrance before it sets everything on fire. Repeat until the boss is defeated.
Tip
Equip the Flame Resistance Ring to reduce fire damage. Keep an eye on your stamina when approaching the boss, because running out of energy halfway down the tunnel is a fantastic way to become spider food.

Trophy: Dirty Colossus' Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Dirty Colossus"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Dirty Colossus in Valley of Defilement (5-2: Swamp of Sorrow). Dirty Colossus is a large, slow-moving boss that attacks with powerful swings and swarms of damaging flies. Stay behind him whenever possible and attack between his movements. He's especially weak to fire, so use fire spells, Firebombs, or a fire-enhanced weapon to deal heavy damage.
Tip
If you're covered in flies, move into one of the burning torches around the arena to remove them. It's probably the only time deliberately setting yourself on fire is considered a sensible medical treatment.

Trophy: Dragon God's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Dragon God"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Dragon God in Stonefang Tunnel (2-3: Underground Temple). This encounter is more of a puzzle than a traditional boss fight. Move through the temple while hiding behind pillars and avoiding Dragon God's attacks. Destroy obstacles blocking your path and activate the two ballistas positioned on opposite sides of the arena. Once both have struck Dragon God, approach its collapsed head and finish it off.
Tip
For Fists of Legend, obtain the Hands of God weapons in 2-2 and use them to deliver the finishing blow. Equip both hands with the weapons as a precaution.
Warning
Make sure you have the Hands of God ready before entering the fight if you want both trophies in one playthrough. Dragon God isn't particularly interested in scheduling a rematch.

Trophy: False King's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "False King"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Old King Allant in Boletarian Palace (1-4: The King's Tower). Allant uses powerful sword attacks, ranged shockwaves, and a devastating area-of-effect explosion. Keep some distance, dodge his rushing attacks, and punish him with a few hits before retreating. When he begins charging his large magical explosion, move away immediately to avoid taking massive damage.
Tip
Watch out for his Soulsucker attack, which can permanently drain one of your Soul Levels if it connects. Getting stabbed is bad enough without losing the experience points you spent hours collecting.
Warning
Defeating Old King Allant moves you toward the game's ending. Before progressing further, make sure you've completed your important World Tendency events, NPC quests, and ring collection. Also, do not consume the False King Demon Soul. You'll need it to forge the Northern Regalia for Legacy of the Kings.

Trophy: Flamelurker's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Flamelurker"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Flamelurker in Stonefang Tunnel (2-2: The Tunnel City). Flamelurker is a fast, aggressive boss that uses powerful melee attacks and fiery explosions. Keep your distance, dodge its attacks, and strike during the brief openings between its combos. Magic attacks are especially effective against Flamelurker, making ranged spells a useful option if you're struggling with close combat.
Tip
Equip the Flame Resistance Ring and avoid getting trapped against the arena walls. Flamelurker hits hard, but maintaining your distance makes the fight much more manageable.
Warning
Do not consume the Searing Demon Soul you receive after defeating Flamelurker. Give it to Blacksmith Ed in 2-1 to unlock Road to Possibilities and the ability to forge unique weapons needed for another trophy.

Trophy: Fool's Idol's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Fool's Idol"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Fool's Idol in Tower of Latria (3-1: Prison of Hope). Before entering the boss arena, find and kill the prisoner performing a ritual in the upper tower. Otherwise, he'll continually revive Fool's Idol after you defeat her. During the fight, avoid the magical traps on the floor and attack the real Fool's Idol while dodging her spells.
Tip
For Not Fooled, defeat Fool's Idol without attacking any of her clones. The real boss fires larger Soul Rays, while the clones use smaller Soul Arrows. Locking onto a clone also reveals a small health bar above it. Apparently, being trapped in a nightmare prison wasn't enough. Now there's a magical guessing game.

Trophy: Leechmonger's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Leechmonger"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Leechmonger in Valley of Defilement (5-1: Depraved Chasm). Leechmonger waits at the bottom of a large pit and attacks by launching swarms of leeches that gradually drain your health. The boss is particularly weak to fire, so use fire spells, Firebombs, or a fire-enhanced melee weapon to deal significant damage. Keep attacking to prevent Leechmonger from regenerating health, and defeat it to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Ranged fire attacks from the upper platforms can make this encounter much safer. If you prefer melee combat, stay aggressive whenever the boss begins healing. After everything else you've fought, a giant pile of leeches feels almost reasonable. Almost.

Trophy: Maiden Astraea's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Maiden Astraea"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Maiden Astraea in Valley of Defilement (5-3: Rotting Haven). Unlike most bosses, Maiden Astraea doesn't actively fight you. Instead, she's protected by Garl Vinland, a heavily armored knight guarding the path to her. You can defeat Garl and approach Astraea, or attack Astraea directly from a distance using a bow.
Tip
For May you be unharmed, you must defeat Maiden Astraea without killing Garl Vinland. Bring an upgraded bow and plenty of arrows, then attack Astraea from a safe position without engaging her bodyguard.

Trophy: Maneater's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Maneater"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Maneater in Tower of Latria (3-2: Upper Latria). This battle takes place on a narrow bridge, and a second Maneater joins the fight after a short time. Focus on damaging the first Maneater as quickly as possible before the second arrives. Use ranged magic or arrows when the boss is airborne, and retreat to the wider central platform when you need room to dodge or heal.
Tip
The large brazier in the middle of the bridge can provide useful cover against attacks. Try to keep the fight near this area to reduce the risk of being knocked off the edge. Fighting one flying monster on a narrow bridge is bad enough. Naturally, the game decided you needed two.

Trophy: Old Hero's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Old Hero"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Old Hero in Shrine of Storms (4-2: The Ritual Path). Old Hero is blind and relies on sound to locate you. Move carefully, avoid unnecessary noise, and attack when he isn't facing your position. After dealing damage, retreat and allow him to lose track of you before attacking again.
Tip
Equip the Thief Ring to make it harder for Old Hero to detect you. Ranged magic or arrows can also help you attack from a safer distance. For once, running around screaming and swinging your sword isn't the best approach. Try being a little less noticeable.

Trophy: Old Monk's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Old Monk"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Old Monk in Tower of Latria (3-3: The Ivory Tower). This unusual boss fight can pit you against another player summoned as the Old Monk's champion. Since every player fights differently, stay patient, watch their attacks, and look for opportunities to strike. If you're struggling with PvP, switch to offline mode to face an NPC Black Phantom instead.
Tip
The offline encounter is generally more predictable. Watch out for the homing magical orbs, keep your distance when they appear, and attack between the phantom's combos. Sometimes the smartest strategy is simply refusing to fight another human being.

Trophy: Penetrator's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Penetrator"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Penetrator in Boletarian Palace (1-3: Inner Ward). Penetrator is a fast, aggressive swordsman whose powerful attacks can quickly drain your stamina or kill you outright. Keep your distance, dodge his attacks, and strike when he leaves himself exposed. You can make the encounter significantly easier by rescuing Biorr of the Twin Fangs before entering the boss arena. Biorr will join the fight and distract Penetrator, giving you opportunities to attack safely.
Tip
For Brother-in-Arms, Biorr must survive the fight against Penetrator. Keep the boss distracted whenever possible and finish the encounter before your heavily armored friend becomes a heavily armored casualty.

Trophy: Phalanx's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Phalanx"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Phalanx, the first boss in Boletarian Palace (1-1: Gates of Boletaria). Phalanx is surrounded by smaller shield-carrying enemies called Hoplites. Use Firebombs or a weapon coated with Pine Resin to clear them away, exposing the main boss. Once Phalanx is vulnerable, attack its exposed body until it's defeated.
Tip
Both Phalanx and its Hoplites are weak to fire. Save the Firebombs you find throughout the level for this encounter. Nothing says welcome to Boletaria quite like setting your first boss on fire.

Trophy: Storm King's Trophy
Slayer of the Demon "Storm King"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Storm King in Shrine of Storms (4-3: Altar of Storms). When you enter the arena, make your way toward the far end of the battlefield and collect the Storm Ruler sword near the cliff. Equip it and use its powerful ranged shockwave attacks to eliminate the flying Storm Beasts and damage Storm King. Continue attacking until the boss is defeated.
Tip
You can use the nearby ruins for protection against incoming projectiles. Clear out some of the smaller flying enemies first so you have fewer attacks to worry about. Finally, a sword designed specifically for hitting something that refuses to land. Very considerate of the developers.

Trophy: Tower Knight's Trophy
Slayer of Demon "Tower Knight"
Type: Bronze
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Defeat Tower Knight in Boletarian Palace (1-2: The Lord's Path). Attack his ankles until he loses balance and falls backward. Move away as he collapses, then attack his exposed head for massive damage. Repeat until Tower Knight is defeated.
Tip
For the separate One Shall Fall trophy, defeat Tower Knight without killing any of the archers positioned along the battlements. Leave them alive and dodge their arrows throughout the fight to earn both trophies together.

Welcome to Boletaria, where nearly everything wants you dead, and even dying can complicate your Platinum journey. For an easier start, consider choosing the Royalty class for its powerful early magic and select the Providential Ring as your starting gift. Your biggest priority is understanding World Tendency. Play primarily in Soul Form, since dying in Body Form pushes that world's tendency toward Black. After defeating a boss, return to The Nexus and deliberately die there to regain Soul Form without affecting World Tendency. It sounds ridiculous, but voluntarily throwing yourself down the stairs is genuinely one of the smartest things you can do in this game.
Begin by completing Boletarian Palace's opening area and defeating Phalanx. Afterward, speak to the Monumental in The Nexus and accept his request, which is important for obtaining the Ally's Ring later. From here, the remaining Archstones become available, allowing you to explore the five worlds in your preferred order. Focus on defeating bosses, improving your equipment, and working toward Pure White World Tendency in each world. Avoid attacking friendly NPCs, and never consume boss Demon Souls without checking their purpose. Many are needed for spells, miracles, and unique weapons, and wasting one could mean another trip through New Game+.
Several boss encounters also have special trophy conditions worth completing immediately. Defeat Tower Knight without killing the surrounding archers for One Shall Fall, defeat Fool's Idol without striking her clones for Not Fooled, and defeat Adjudicator without knocking him down for One Shall Stand. You'll also need to finish Dragon God using the Hands of God weapons and defeat Maiden Astraea without killing Garl Vinland. These challenges can be attempted in later playthroughs, but completing them now saves additional headaches. Apparently, simply defeating enormous demons isn't impressive enough for the trophy committee.
Continue clearing the Archstones while rescuing the NPCs required for your Platinum. Sage Freke can be rescued in Tower of Latria, Saint Urbain in Shrine of Storms, and Yuria the Witch in Boletarian Palace. These characters teach the spells and miracles needed for Sage's Trophy and Saint's Trophy. To rescue Yuria, you'll need the complete Official's outfit, not just the hat. Also rescue Biorr before fighting Penetrator and keep him alive during the battle for Brother-in-Arms. In Upper Latria, deal with Yurt before he can begin assassinating important NPCs in The Nexus. He's considerably less charming once your spell merchants start disappearing.
Once you've defeated enough bosses to reach Pure White World Tendency, complete the important events before deliberately changing the worlds to Black. Rescue Lord Rydell in Tower of Latria for the Dull Rat's Ring, deliver the Magic Sword Makoto to Satsuki in Shrine of Storms for Worthy of the Sword, and collect Istarelle in Valley of Defilement for One of the few. Make sure Makoto is in your inventory rather than equipped when speaking to Satsuki. You'll also want to gather the rings available throughout the different worlds, as all 30 are required for King of Rings.
After completing the Pure White events, begin shifting the necessary worlds toward Pure Black World Tendency by dying in Body Form within them. This unlocks special Black Phantom enemies and Primeval Demons. Defeating the named Black Phantom NPCs helps move your Character Tendency toward Pure White, allowing you to obtain the Ally's Ring from the Monumental. Primeval Demons provide Colorless Demon Souls, including the three needed for the Recovery miracle. Complete these activities carefully, since defeating certain enemies also changes World Tendency. Boletaria has enough moving parts already without accidentally undoing several hours of progress.
With the Pure White Character Tendency reward secured, it's time to work toward Pure Black Character Tendency and begin Mephistopheles' assassination quest. Defeating certain nonessential NPCs can shift your Character Tendency toward Black, eventually causing Mephistopheles to appear in The Nexus. Her assignments involve eliminating several familiar characters, including important spell and miracle teachers. Make sure you've purchased the magic you need before proceeding. It's a particularly unpleasant retirement plan for everyone who's helped you survive this long.
Complete Mephistopheles' assignments to obtain the Foe's Ring, then finish collecting any remaining rings, including the Eternal Warrior's Ring from Old King Doran. You'll also need Demonbrandt, which Doran guards, for the Northern Regalia. Before completing the final encounters, make sure you've given Flamelurker's Searing Demon Soul to Blacksmith Ed and have preserved the necessary boss souls. Once you've defeated False King Allant and obtained Soulbrandt from the final encounter, return to Blacksmith Ed with Soulbrandt, Demonbrandt, and the False King Demon Soul to forge the Northern Regalia for Legacy of the Kings. Do this before triggering the ending, or you'll have to wait until another playthrough.
The ending presents another important decision. To earn Seekest soul power, you must kill the Maiden in Black after defeating the final boss. However, the alternate ending rewards you with the Maiden in Black Demon Soul, which is required for the Soulsucker spell. If you're using carefully managed cloud save backups, you can earn the trophy, restore your save, and then complete the alternate ending to obtain the soul. Otherwise, you'll need separate playthroughs for both outcomes. After everything you've survived, naturally the game saves one final opportunity to sabotage your Platinum for the last five minutes.
Your remaining work will likely involve Sage's Trophy, Saint's Trophy, and possibly King of Rings. There are 22 spells, 12 miracles, and 30 rings to obtain. Several spells and miracles require the same boss Demon Souls, so they cannot all be purchased from a single set of boss rewards. A carefully planned route with cloud save backups can complete the Platinum across two playthroughs, while playing without backups generally requires a third, at least partially completed, playthrough. Save backups must be managed carefully so restoring a save doesn't erase progress you intended to keep.
For the magic cleanup, you'll need to defeat specific bosses again in New Game+ to obtain additional Demon Souls and rescue the necessary teachers again. With the required souls gathered, a backup can allow you to purchase the remaining miracles for Saint's Trophy, restore your save, and use those souls for the remaining spells toward Sage's Trophy. Don't forget the Maiden in Black Demon Soul for Soulsucker. If you're missing rings, check their World Tendency and Character Tendency requirements before moving forward. New Game+ is considerably less forgiving, so make sure your weapons, healing supplies, and character build are ready before starting another journey.
Finally, remember the two required multiplayer trophies: Return to Form, earned by helping another player defeat a boss, and Unwelcome Guest, earned by successfully invading and defeating another player. These require online multiplayer access, so plan accordingly. Be careful with invasions if you're still working toward Pure White Character Tendency, since killing a host can shift it toward Black. Once every trophy is complete, Slayer of Trophies will unlock, rewarding you with the Platinum. Congratulations! You've conquered demons, manipulated the fabric of reality, betrayed half your acquaintances, and willingly jumped to your death more times than anyone should admit. Boletaria would be proud.
