EARLY GAME Nioh 3 opens up much faster than the previous games. After the short prologue, you are dropped into the open world, where exploration becomes just as important as the main missions. The opening hours are still the toughest part, so take your time learning the new combat systems instead of trying to sprint straight through the story. Experiment with both Samurai and Ninja styles early. Samurai keeps the fam...

Nioh 3 - 100% Walkthrough Part 1: Escape for Hitokoto Slope
Trophy: You Are Nioh
Obtained all trophies.
Type: Platinum
Unlock Details
Obtained all trophies.

Trophy: Teamwork
Completed three missions during Expeditions or with NPCs. (Includes Acolytes.)
Type: Bronze
Category: Online
Unlock Details
Complete 3 missions while accompanied by other players, NPC allies, or Acolytes. The easiest solo method is to summon Acolytes from blue graves during missions. These AI helpers fight alongside you and count as long as you finish the mission with them still alive. Do this across 3 completed missions. Acolyte graves can still appear while offline, so you do not need an internet connection for the trophy. Some Myths and Side Missions also include NPC companions who cannot die, and those completions count automatically. If you prefer online co-op, go to a Shrine and choose Co-Op > Expeditions > Mission Mode to join other players.
Tip
The guaranteed NPC-helper missions are the easiest route because you do not have to babysit an Acolyte all the way to the finish line. And yes, unlike some games, Nioh 3 is perfectly willing to count your immortal NPC friend as “teamwork.” Take the free credit.

Trophy: A Scampuss's Best Friend
Traded a furball with a Scampuss in the Eternal Rift for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Trade a Furball with the large Scampuss in the Eternal Rift for the first time. First, progress through the story until you unlock the Eternal Rift after completing the first Crucible. Next, find Scampuss collectibles in the open world. These are the little rolling cats that you follow until you can pet them. Each one gives you a Furball. Once you have at least one Furball, return to the Eternal Rift by pressing L3 on the map screen. A large Scampuss will appear there and will be marked with an icon. Talk to it and give it a Furball to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Scampuss locations are automatically marked once a region reaches Exploration Level 4, so if you have not found many yet, keep exploring and raise the region’s level first.

Trophy: Devotee
Unlocked all named shrines and Bodhisattva Statues.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Unlock every named Shrine and Bodhisattva Statue in Nioh 3. Shrines are the fast-travel points found throughout the open world. Bodhisattva Statues serve the same purpose inside the five story-related Crucibles. Simply seeing one on the map is not enough. You need to walk close enough for it to activate. A locked Shrine appears dark green on the map, while an activated one becomes bright green. Most Shrines and Statues are automatically marked once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region. Press R2 on the map to check the regional collectible tracker. Nothing is missable. You can continue exploring after the story, and mission-exclusive locations can be revisited through Battle Scroll mission replay.
Tip
Activate every Shrine and Bodhisattva Statue the first time you pass it. The mission-exclusive ones are usually directly along the main route, and doing this as you play can save you from replaying half the game later while wondering which glowing green checkpoint you somehow offended. If all your open-world regions look complete, check the mission-exclusive Shrines and Crucible Bodhisattva Statues next. Mount Kurama, Antiquity, and Final Battle of Edo are especially important because they do not have normal regional collectible trackers.
Warning
Only named Shrines count. Unnamed Shrines found during Side Missions do not count toward Devotee. The trophy tracker reportedly displays 156 total even though the documented list contains 155 unique named Shrines and Bodhisattva Statues. Players stuck at 155/156 have reported unlocking the trophy after replaying “Escape from Hitoko Slope” and activating its Shrines again. If the game decides to make you prove your devotion twice, apparently that is between you and the Shrines.

Trophy: Eagle-Eyed
Pet all Chijiko.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Pet all 43 Chijiko. Chijiko are scattered throughout the open world. They look a bit like flying lanterns, with a white-and-red appearance, and they make a noticeable rattling sound when you are nearby. Each Chijiko is worth finding beyond the trophy because it gives you: A Samurai or Ninja Lock for a Skill Point A Transformed Art that unlocks a new attack Once you raise a region to Exploration Level 4, any remaining Chijiko are automatically marked on the map with a white icon. You can press R2 on the map to check the collectible tracker for each region, then place a marker on any missing Chijiko and follow the compass to reach them. Nothing is missable. Every area remains available after the story, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Push each region to Exploration Level 4 before doing serious cleanup. Once all the Chijiko are marked, this goes from “listen for weird rattling noises in the wilderness” to a much easier icon hunt. Do not ignore Chijiko while progressing. The Skill Points and Transformed Arts make you stronger, so these little floating creatures are basically rewarding you for being nice to them.

Trophy: Explorer
Raised your Exploration Level to 4 in any area.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Raise the Exploration Level of any open-world area to Level 4. Once you reach the Warring States region and gain access to the open world, each area has its own Exploration Level. You increase it by finding collectibles and completing activities within that region. Open the map and press R2 while highlighting an area to check its current Exploration Level and collectible progress. The fastest progress usually comes from bigger activities such as: Enemy Bases Lesser Crucibles Myths Regular collectibles also contribute, so thoroughly exploring one region should get you there without much trouble. Exploration Level 2 removes the fog from the regional map, while reaching Level 4 automatically marks the remaining collectibles in that area.
Tip
Focus on completing Myths, Enemy Bases, and Lesser Crucibles first. They give larger Exploration gains and make reaching Level 4 much faster.
Warning
Level 4 is worth getting early because once everything is marked on the map, collectible cleanup goes from “where on earth is this thing?” to simply following icons around like an extremely dangerous sightseeing tour.

Trophy: Keen-Eyed
Pet a Chijiko for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Pet a Chijiko for the first time. Chijiko are small flying creatures with a white-and-red appearance that make a distinctive rattling sound when nearby. Walk up to one and interact with it to pet it. The trophy unlocks after your first Chijiko.
Tip
Keep your volume up while exploring. Their rattling sound can give away their location before you actually see them.

Trophy: Kodama Leader
Guided all Kodama home.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Guide all 92 Kodama home. Kodama are the little green spirits scattered throughout Nioh 3. They are one of the most useful collectibles in the game because finding them increases the number of Elixirs restored at Shrines and also unlocks Kodama Blessings that can provide permanent bonuses. Once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region, any remaining Kodama are automatically marked on the map with a white icon. Press R2 on the map to check the collectible tracker, then place a marker on any missing Kodama and follow the compass. Many Kodama are found inside buildings, on rooftops, or slightly above or below the main path, so pay attention to the environment instead of only following roads. Nothing is missable. All areas remain explorable after the story, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Collect Kodama as you progress instead of saving them all for cleanup. The extra Elixirs make boss fights noticeably easier, so these little green guys are basically handing you free survivability. Raise each region to Exploration Level 4 before doing cleanup. Once the remaining Kodama are marked, the hunt becomes much faster and less like checking every rooftop in Japan personally.

Trophy: Scampuss Enthusiast
Pet all Scampusses.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Pet all 16 Scampusses. Scampusses are the little cat-like creatures that make a purring sound when you are nearby. They are often found near Shrines or sitting along roads. When you first pet a Scampuss, it will usually run away. Follow it until it stops, then pet it again to complete the encounter and receive your reward. Some Scampusses require you to stay hidden while following them. In those cases, crouch through tall grass and avoid getting too close or making yourself obvious. If you scare one, it will reset back to its starting position. Each Scampuss also counts as a Valuable collectible and rewards you with Samurai or Ninja Locks for Skill Points. Some also give Scampuss Fur Balls, which can be traded to the Great Scampuss in the Eternal Rift for additional rewards. Once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region, any remaining Scampusses are automatically marked on the map with a white icon. Press R2 on the map to check the collectible tracker, then mark the ones you are missing and follow the compass. Nothing is missable. All regions remain available after the story, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Tip: Listen for the purring sound while exploring. It can help you spot a nearby Scampuss before you even see it. Tip: If one keeps resetting, slow down and use stealth instead of sprinting after it like you are trying to tackle the world’s roundest cat. Tip: Keep the Fur Balls you earn. Giving them to the Great Scampuss in the Eternal Rift can eventually unlock a Ninjutsu that lets you transform into a giant Scampuss for a short time, which is exactly as ridiculous and wonderful as it sounds.

Trophy: Soul Core Owner
Purified a Soul Core for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Purify a Soul Core for the first time. Soul Cores can drop from certain Yokai enemies and appear as red heart-shaped items. You will also find them fairly often while clearing Lesser Crucibles and defeating Crucible Wraiths. After picking up a Soul Core, reach any Shrine without dying. Interacting with the Shrine will purify the Soul Core and unlock the trophy.
Tip
You should get this naturally very early. Once a Soul Core drops, play it a little safer than usual until you reach a Shrine.
Warning
If you die before reaching a Shrine, the Soul Core will not be purified. So maybe resist the urge to immediately challenge the largest Yokai in sight just because you feel confident.

Trophy: Spa Healer
Bathed in first hot spring.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Bathe in any Hot Spring for the first time. Hot Springs are small pools you can interact with to sit in. Doing so grants a temporary healing buff and unlocks this trophy the first time.
Tip
Use them whenever you find them. Free healing in Nioh 3 is never something to turn down.

Trophy: Spa Lover
Bathed in every hot spring.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Bathe in all 26 Hot Springs. Most Hot Springs are found in the open world and will be marked automatically once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region. Press R2 on the map to check the collectible tracker, then place markers on any Hot Springs you are missing. Nothing is missable. You can continue exploring after the story, and mission-exclusive Hot Springs can be revisited through Battle Scroll mission replay. A few Hot Springs are especially easy to miss: Hot Spring #10 Found in northern Heian, in a region without a normal collectible tracker. Hot Spring #18 Found exclusively during the Main Mission “Dark Roots.” Hot Spring #26 Found exclusively during the final Main Mission “A Sinister End.” This is the easiest one to overlook, so check it first if you finish with 25 of 26. Some Hot Springs also appear only inside Crucibles: Hot Spring #6 Found during the second Crucible in “A Fiery Invasion.” Hot Spring #20 Found during the fourth Crucible in “Accursed Temple.” Hot Spring #24 Found during the fifth Crucible in “Scion of the Gods.”
Tip
Push each region to Exploration Level 4 before doing serious cleanup. Once the Hot Springs are marked, most of the hunt becomes much easier. If you are missing exactly one at the end, check “A Sinister End” first. That final Hot Spring is particularly easy to miss.
Warning
Not every Hot Spring is tracked by the normal open-world region map. The ones in northern Heian, “Dark Roots,” and “A Sinister End” can slip past you even when the rest of the map looks clean. At least Nioh 3 understands proper endgame priorities: defeat ancient horrors, save history, then go sit in every hot tub you can find.

Trophy: Visiting the Six Jizo
Prayed at all of the Six Jizo.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Pray at all 20 Six Jizo Statues. Six Jizo Statues are scattered throughout the open world and grant Jizo Blessings that can be activated at Shrines. These buffs become active while you are inside the game’s 5 Crucibles, giving you a little extra help during some of Nioh 3’s tougher sections. Each Jizo can be completed in one of three ways: Interact with it normally. Make a donation. Giving just 1 coin is enough. Repair a broken statue by finding its missing stone head nearby. The head is always within a few meters of the statue. Once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region, remaining Jizo Statues are automatically marked on the map with a white statue icon. Press R2 on the map to check the regional collectible tracker, then place a marker on any missing ones and follow the compass. Nothing is missable. Every area can still be explored after the story, and mission areas remain replayable through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Tip: Work on these as you explore instead of leaving all 20 for the end. The Jizo Blessings can make Crucibles easier, so there is actual value in finding them before cleanup. Tip: If you find a broken Jizo, search the immediate area for its missing head before leaving. Nioh 3 does not make you cross half the map for it — the little stone guy usually just lost his head a few steps away. And yes, sometimes becoming stronger really does come down to donating one coin to a statue and hoping for the best.

Trophy: Answering to the People
Completed all Myths.
Type: Gold
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Complete all 39 Myths. Myths are Nioh 3’s open-world side quests. Most of them appear automatically on the map as you explore and raise a region’s Exploration Level, and completed Myths can be checked from the Progress menu. These are separate from Sub Missions played from the Battle Scroll, so don’t confuse the two. Nothing is missable. You can return to every area after the story, and missions remain replayable. Most Myths are straightforward once they appear, but a few have extra requirements or unlock in chains. The two Myths most likely to cause trouble are hidden and do not initially appear on the map: Yokai Horde Picture Scroll Found in Heian, in the Kamo Village area. Start from the Path of Koyama Shrine, slide down the snowy path, then use the first Spirit Vein on the left to reach the hill above. Follow the path until you find a corpse surrounded by black mist, just before the second Spirit Vein. Interact with the corpse, defeat the two enemies that appear, then speak with the ghost that spawns. After that, the remaining objectives can be tracked normally through the Progress menu. Seeking Rare Yokai Found much later in Bakumatsu, in the Kiyomizu area. You must first complete Yokai Horde Picture Scroll. After that, the same painter ghost can appear on the hill east of the Dilapidated Temple Shrine. This one is especially easy to miss because the ghost is not marked until you get close, and there are no normal collectibles nearby to lure you into the area. Several other Myths are tied to story progress, previous Myths, or Sub Missions, so if one seems unavailable, keep progressing and complete the quest chains already open to you. Notable examples include: The Value of Perfection Becomes available in Heian after speaking with Matsunaga at the Teahouse in the Eternal Rift. Thoughts Bequeathed and True Samurai of Kamakura Unlock after progressing into Antiquity, then require you to return to Heian. Triple Triumph Only becomes available after completing True Samurai of Kamakura. Seeking Spirit Stones Requires completing the Sub Mission “Beast of the Underworld” in Bakumatsu first. A Present for Whom? Unlocks after Seeking Spirit Stones. Doctor’s Pride Requires completing the Sub Mission “Kiyomizu Defiled” and may also depend on progress through other Bakumatsu Myth chains. Old Medicine, New Problems Unlocks after Doctor’s Pride and sends you bouncing between Bakumatsu and Warring States because apparently one time period was not enough paperwork.
Tip
Raise each region’s Exploration Level while working through the story. Most Myths get marked automatically once you have explored enough, which makes cleanup much easier.
Warning
Sub Missions do not count as Myths. Only the 39 open-world Myth quests are required for this trophy.

Trophy: Budding Talent
Reached level 10.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach level 10. You gain Amrita from defeating enemies and completing normal progression, then spend it at any Shrine by selecting Level Up. This comes very early and should unlock naturally without any grinding. Nioh 3 will have plenty of chances to beat levels into you the hard way, so there is no need to force this one.

Trophy: Dung Ball Roller
Helped Tatsumaro the Dung Lover connect with Takechiyo.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Help Tatsumaro the Dung Lover by giving him a total of 30 Dung Balls. First, complete the Myth “Putrid Paradise” in Heian > Hachijo. The Myth starts in the eastern half of Hachijo by speaking to a man standing on a roof in the swamp area. Follow the marked objectives, which include sitting in a Hot Spring with him and protecting him while he returns home. After completing “Putrid Paradise,” Tatsumaro will move to the Eternal Rift. Return to the Eternal Rift from the world map by pressing L3. From the Blacksmith, climb down the ladder behind her into the underground cave. Tatsumaro will be marked on the map. Speak with him and give him a total of 30 Dung Balls. Noble Dung Balls count as 2 regular Dung Balls toward the total. Dung Balls can drop randomly from enemies and can also be found as yellow item pickups on corpses throughout the game.
Tip
Tip: Save this for late-game cleanup. You will naturally collect some Dung Balls while completing the story, Myths, collectibles, and other trophies, which can significantly reduce the amount of farming needed. Tip: If you still need Dung Balls, a reliable farming location is: Warring States > Tokaido > Cape Cavern Shrine From the Shrine, turn around. There are 2 flying wasps on the left and 2 on the right. Kill all 4, then fast travel back to the Shrine to respawn them and repeat. Shuriken or Kunai in Ninja Style work well because the wasps can usually be killed almost instantly. Dung Balls are still random drops, so this can take a while. Roughly speaking, you may see about one Dung Ball every several runs, but luck can vary quite a bit.
Warning
Do not start farming 30 Dung Balls early unless you really enjoy exterminating wasps for poop. Finish almost everything else first, check how many Dung Balls you already have, then farm only the remainder. Somewhere along the way, becoming Shogun apparently also requires becoming a very dedicated dung delivery service.

Trophy: Grizzled Veteran
Reached level 100.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach level 100. You earn Amrita from enemies and can also gain it by offering unwanted items at Shrines. Spend that Amrita through the Level Up option at any Shrine. You should reach level 100 naturally during the story, usually around Main Region 3: Antiquity. The main story eventually pushes you well beyond level 100 anyway, so there is no reason to stop and farm specifically for this trophy. You can check your current overall level in the Status menu.
Tip
Higher-level regions give much better Amrita rewards, so if you are somehow a little short, just keep progressing. The game is much more generous later, which is a nice change from being emotionally generous with boss damage.

Trophy: A God Among Men
Defeated all masters.
Type: Silver
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat all 13 Masters. Masters are human minibosses scattered across the open world. Once a region reaches Exploration Level 4, their locations are automatically marked on the map with a white-and-red person icon. The 13 Masters are found in these areas: Warring States Lake Sanaru Lake Hamana Iinoya Futamata Heian Kamo Village Nishiichi Awawa no Tsuji Hachijo Bakumatsu Shijo Gion Nijo Castle Kyoto Imperial Palace Kyoto Imperial Palace The final Master in Kyoto Imperial Palace is locked behind a barrier of red crystals. To reach it, first complete the Side Mission “Beast of the Underworld” in Bakumatsu. Start the mission in Shichijo near the Shrine “Shichijo Abyss – Stratum” by speaking with Thomas Glover. Progress through the area and defeat Kasha after the “Shichijo Abyss – Armory” Shrine. Completing the mission unlocks cannons throughout the regions. Return to Kyoto Imperial Palace and use the large cannon south of the red crystal barrier to destroy it and reach the final Master.
Tip
Raise each region to Exploration Level 4 before hunting Masters. Once they are marked on the map, cleanup becomes much faster.
Warning
Master #13 cannot be reached until you unlock the cannons through “Beast of the Underworld.” If you see the red crystal barrier and cannot break it, you are not missing some secret ninja trick. You just need the cannon.

Trophy: Arts Proficiency
Defeated 10 enemies with a Strong Attack or a Martial Art enhanced via Arts Proficiency.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat 10 enemies with a Strong Attack or Martial Art enhanced by Arts Proficiency. In Samurai Style, watch the circular gauge in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Attacking fills this gauge with blue energy. Once it is full, your next Triangle Strong Attack will glow blue. That enhanced hit needs to land the killing blow on an enemy. Do this 10 times total. The easiest method is to weaken an enemy first with Square light attacks, then wait until the Arts Proficiency gauge is full and finish them with the glowing Triangle attack.
Tip
Farm this on weaker enemies so you can control their health more easily. Nothing is more annoying than carefully setting up the perfect blue finisher only for your previous light attack to accidentally delete them.

Trophy: Base Captured
Captured an enemy base for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Capture your first Enemy Base. Enemy Bases are open-world locations filled with enemies. Defeat everyone tied to the base to clear it and claim the area. Most bases also contain a reward chest, and some have other useful collectibles nearby. You should unlock this naturally while exploring the first few regions.
Tip
If a base feels too difficult, leave and come back later. There is no penalty for deciding that today is not the day you fight an entire camp at once.

Trophy: Burst Break
Successfully activated Burst Break 10 times.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Successfully perform 10 Burst Breaks. When an enemy begins charging a red-glowing attack, press R2 shortly before the attack connects to perform a Burst Break and interrupt it. The timing is the important part. Do not press R2 the instant the enemy starts glowing red. Wait for the actual attack animation to begin, then press it roughly half a second before the hit would connect. Larger enemies and bosses use red attacks frequently, so you should get plenty of opportunities while playing normally.
Tip
If you want to farm this, find a large enemy with an easy-to-read red attack and practice on it repeatedly. Once the timing clicks, this goes from “why does this never work?” to “please glow red again.”

Trophy: Crucible Arts Adopter
Learned a Martial Art from a Crucible weapon for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Learn a Martial Art from a Crucible Weapon for the first time. Crucible Weapons are dropped by enemies inside Crucibles and are marked with a red skull icon in your inventory. You should get several automatically during the first story-related Crucible. Equip any Crucible Weapon and keep using it until its Familiarity reaches the maximum. You can check this in the inventory by highlighting the weapon and looking at the blue Familiarity bar above its Attack value. Once that bar is full, the weapon’s Crucible Art is permanently learned and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Just use the weapon while clearing normal enemies. This should only take a few minutes, so there is no need to turn it into some grand training arc.

Trophy: Guardian Spirit's Aid
Successfully activated a Guardian Spirit Skill Burst Break for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Successfully use a Guardian Spirit Skill to perform a Burst Break. This feature unlocks after defeating Takeda Shingen, the fifth main boss, during “A Fiery Invasion.” Once unlocked, build charge for your Guardian Spirit Skill by attacking enemies. When the skill is ready, a circle to the left of your health bar will light up. Wait for an enemy to begin a red-glowing Burst Attack, then press L1 + Square just before the attack connects. If timed correctly, your Guardian Spirit Skill will interrupt the attack and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Treat the timing the same way as a normal Burst Break. Do not activate it as soon as the enemy turns red; wait until the actual attack starts moving toward you.
Warning
You need to progress far enough in the story to unlock Guardian Spirit Skill Burst Breaks first. If L1 + Square is not doing what you expect, the feature may not be available yet.

Trophy: Kunimatsu's Envy
Defeated the Demon of Envy and glimpsed Kunimatsu's emotions.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat the hidden optional boss Demon of Envy. The Demon of Envy is found in Heian > Hachijo > Anneibo Temple. From the Shrine, face away from it and turn left. Climb the scaffolding, then drop down into a slightly hidden cave. Follow the path through the cave to reach the boss. There is a Spirit Vein along the route leading to the Demon of Envy.
Tip
Like the Demon of Pride, this is a high-level optional encounter. It is much easier to return after progressing further through the story with stronger equipment and more abilities.
Warning
The entrance is easy to overlook because you need to climb the scaffolding and drop into the hidden cave rather than simply following the main path. At this point Kunimatsu’s emotional journey is starting to look suspiciously like a full optional boss rush.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seawZSf6_ho

Trophy: Kunimatsu's Obsession
Defeated the Demon of Obsession and glimpsed Kunimatsu's emotions.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat the hidden optional boss Demon of Obsession. The Demon of Obsession is found in Bakumatsu > Nijo Castle and is marked by a golden chest icon in the northwest corner of the area. To reach it, first travel into the Mibu region. From Mibu Temple – Main Gate Shrine, head toward the hill south of the golden chest icon and drop down into the route leading toward the boss. Follow the path to reach the Demon of Obsession and defeat it to unlock the trophy.
Tip
Like Kunimatsu’s other hidden demons, this is an optional fight, so there is no reason to rush it. Coming back with stronger gear and a more complete build will make the encounter much easier.
Warning
The approach is not obvious from the Nijo Castle side. You need to access the route from Mibu and drop down from the hill near Mibu Temple – Main Gate. Kunimatsu has now turned pride, envy, and obsession into boss fights. Therapy was apparently not available in this era.

Kunimatsu has now turned pride, envy, and obsession into boss fights. Therapy was apparently not available in this era.
Trophy: Kunimatsu's Pride
Defeated the Demon of Pride and glimpsed Kunimatsu's emotions.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat the hidden optional boss Demon of Pride. The Demon of Pride is marked with a golden chest icon in Warring States > Iinoya. Start from Sengan Waterfall Shrine, then use the Spirit Vein slightly north of the Shrine to reach the golden chest location and the boss. You will need to return here later after progressing far enough in the story to unlock the required Guardian Spirit. That Guardian Spirit is obtained automatically through story progression.
Tip
This is a high-level optional boss, so there is no real benefit to forcing the fight early. Come back after finishing more of the story when your level, gear, and skills are much stronger.
Warning
You cannot reach the boss immediately when you first explore the area because the required Spirit Vein ability comes from a later story unlock. Kunimatsu apparently hid his pride behind a high-level demon and a traversal requirement. Very emotionally healthy.

Trophy: Lesser Crucible Cleanser
Purified a Lesser Crucible for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Purify a Lesser Crucible for the first time. Lesser Crucibles are combat arenas that spawn several waves of enemies. Defeat every enemy, then destroy the red crystal blocking the area to purify the Lesser Crucible and unlock the trophy. Clearing them also increases your Spirit Force, which lets you use stronger Guardian Spirit Skills.
Tip
Summoning Seals and Ninjutsu work well here because you can deal damage from a safer distance while the arena is full of enemies.

Trophy: Lesser Crucible Eradicator
Purified all Lesser Crucibles.
Type: Silver
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Purify all 23 Lesser Crucibles. Each Lesser Crucible acts as a small combat arena. Enter the area, defeat every wave of enemies, then destroy the red crystal to fully clear it. Clearing Lesser Crucibles is useful beyond the trophy because each one increases your Spirit Force and can open shortcuts needed to reach other parts of the region and additional collectibles. Once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region, remaining Lesser Crucibles are automatically marked on the map with a red spike icon. Press R2 on the map to check the regional collectible tracker, then mark any missing ones and follow the compass. Nothing is missable. All areas remain available after the story, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Tip: Use Summoning Seals and Ninjutsu if a Lesser Crucible is giving you trouble. Keeping your distance while something else gets punched in the face is still a perfectly valid strategy. Tip: Clear these as you find them instead of saving all 23 for the end. The extra Spirit Force and newly opened paths will make both combat and collectible hunting easier later.

Trophy: Masterful Pupil
Defeated a master for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat any Master for the first time. Masters are human minibosses found throughout the open world. They are marked with a white-and-red person icon once you raise a region to Exploration Level 4. Defeat any one of the 13 Masters and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
If one feels too strong, leave and come back later. Ninjutsu, Summoning Seals, and jumping attacks are all strong options against Masters, so there is no need to stand there trading honorable sword blows if the game gives you explosives.

Trophy: Ninjutsu
Defeated 10 enemies with Ninjutsu.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat 10 enemies with Ninjutsu. Switch into Ninja Style with R2, then use Ninjutsu with R1 + Square, R1 + Triangle, or R1 + X. The Ninjutsu attack itself must land the killing blow for it to count, so weaken enemies first if needed and finish them with Shuriken, Flames, Bombs, or another Ninjutsu attack. Ninjutsu charges refill automatically as you land melee attacks, so you can keep cycling between close-range combat and ranged finishes.
Tip
Flying insects are great targets for this. A couple of Shuriken are usually enough to drop them, which makes farming the 10 kills quick and painless. For once, the tiny flying enemy is actually helping you.

Trophy: Nothing Left to Learn
Completed veteran missions with Yagyu Munenori and Hattori Hanzo.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Complete the Novice, Adept, and Veteran training missions for both Yagyu Munenori and Hattori Hanzo. Their training missions unlock gradually as you progress through the story: Novice Available during Main Region 1: Warring States after completing the first Crucible. Adept Available after reaching Main Region 2: Heian. Veteran Available after reaching the final Main Region, 1864 CE – Bakumatsu, once you receive the Main Mission “A New Era.” When Veteran becomes available, return to the Eternal Rift and speak with Yagyu Munenori for Samurai training and Hattori Hanzo for Ninja training. Their missions can then be played from a Shrine through the Battle Scrolls menu. The Novice and Adept missions are short dojo fights against groups of enemies. The Veteran missions are direct fights against Yagyu and Hattori themselves. Against Yagyu, you are forced to use Samurai Style. A Spear works well here. Let him approach, land a heavy attack as he comes in, then create space and repeat. There is no need to turn it into a heroic ten-minute combo showcase. Against Hattori, you are forced to use Ninja Style. Dual Ninja Swords are useful for landing quick hits and rapidly charging your Ninjutsu. Once charged, back away and use Ninjutsu from a safer distance.
Tip
Tip: If the Veteran missions are not appearing, make sure you have completed the earlier Novice and Adept missions for both characters first. Tip: These fights are much easier once you are deeper into Bakumatsu with stronger gear, so there is no reason to struggle with them the instant they become available.

Trophy: Total Control
Captured all enemy bases.
Type: Silver
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Capture all 26 Enemy Bases. Enemy Bases are scattered throughout the open world and are usually filled with groups of enemies that must be defeated before the area is considered cleared. Once you reach Exploration Level 4 in a region, remaining Enemy Bases are marked automatically on the map with a red skull icon. Press R2 on the map to check the regional collectible tracker, then mark any missing bases and follow the compass. Some Enemy Bases are tied to Myths or Main Missions. If an Enemy Base icon is missing entirely, it may not be available yet because the related quest has not started. If the icon is visible but the base has no enemies in it, you are probably missing the required Myth or story progression. Keep advancing the main story and complete the Myths in that region. The quest-linked bases will become available as you progress. Nothing is missable. All areas remain explorable after the story, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Tip
Raise each region to Exploration Level 4 before doing cleanup. Once every base is marked, the remaining hunt becomes much easier.
Warning
Do not waste time searching an empty Enemy Base or one that is not appearing on the map. If there are no enemies there, it is almost certainly locked behind a Myth or Main Mission. Apparently “Total Control” means not only defeating every enemy camp in four different eras, but also respecting their appointment schedule.

Trophy: Yokai Manipulator
Used a Summoning Seal to summon a yokai for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Use a Summoning Seal to summon a Yokai for the first time. First, obtain a Soul Core. These can randomly drop from stronger enemies and look like red hearts. Take the Soul Core to a Shrine without dying so it can be cleansed. Then go to Shrine > Manage Soul Core > Onmyo Box > Yang Position and equip it. After equipping the Soul Core, assign the Summoning Seal to one of your shortcut slots. Use the Summoning Seal while fighting an enemy and the equipped Yokai will briefly appear to help you. The trophy unlocks the first time you successfully summon one.
Tip
You will get plenty of Soul Cores naturally, so there is no need to farm this early. Once you have a usable one, the actual trophy takes only a few seconds.
Warning
If the game says the Soul Core cannot be used, keep defeating Crucible Wraiths and collecting more Soul Cores until you obtain one that works with summoning. Apparently even summoning a demon now requires the correct paperwork.

Trophy: Armor's Real Value
Activated all set bonus effects for an equipment set.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Activate every set bonus effect for a single equipment set. Armor that belongs to a set shows the set name in green text in its item details. For example, pieces from the High Priest’s set can contribute to the “Purifying Presence” set bonus. Equip enough matching pieces to activate every bonus listed for that set. Some sets only require 5 armor pieces, while others also include a weapon or accessory as a 6th piece. Set gear becomes much more common later in the game, especially in Bakumatsu, so there is no need to stress about completing a full set early.
Tip
Before selling or dismantling gear, check the green set names and keep matching pieces. You can press Square in the inventory to lock or favorite useful items so you do not accidentally sell the one piece you needed.
Warning
Your inventory can hold up to 2,000 items, so you have plenty of room to hoard set pieces until the right combination appears. Finally, a game mechanic that actively supports terrible inventory habits.

Trophy: Distant Memories
Bathed with Himiko in "Dark Roots," then recalled Naotora's incident in "Apparition of Ryotan Temple."
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Bathe with Himiko in “Dark Roots,” then revisit the Hot Spring in “The Apparition of Ryotan Temple.” This trophy requires actions across two different Main Missions. First, play “Dark Roots” in the Antiquity era. Near the end of the mission, just before the boss, activate the final elevator. At the bottom of the nearby stairs, look to the left for a Hot Spring before entering the red-water room where you collect the item needed to open the path to the boss. Sit in the Hot Spring and remain there until Himiko finishes all of her dialogue. If you are replaying the mission through the Battle Scroll, finish the mission afterward. Next, go to any Shrine and choose Battle Scrolls > Warring States > The Apparition of Ryotan Temple. Replay the mission until you reach the backyard pond area after dropping down from a roof. There is a Hot Spring hidden behind a Nurikabe wall in this area. Get past the Nurikabe and enter the Hot Spring. Himiko will have unique dialogue and eventually say that the place feels familiar. The trophy unlocks after this interaction.
Tip
Make sure you let Himiko finish speaking during the “Dark Roots” Hot Spring scene before leaving. Sitting down and immediately getting back up is not worth risking another mission replay.
Warning
The order matters. Complete the Hot Spring interaction in “Dark Roots” first, then replay “The Apparition of Ryotan Temple” and use its hidden Hot Spring.

Trophy: Latest Masterpiece
Forged an item for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Forge any item for the first time. First, progress the story until you unlock the Eternal Rift, which becomes available shortly after completing the first Crucible. The Blacksmith is located there. Speak with the Blacksmith and choose Forge, then create any item. If you do not have the materials you need, use the Disassemble option to break down unwanted gear into crafting materials. You can return to the Eternal Rift at any time by pressing L3 on the map screen.
Tip
Forge the cheapest item available if you only want the trophy. No need to craft the legendary sword of destiny when a bargain-bin helmet will do.

Trophy: Like-Minded Friends
In "Seeking Rare Yokai," satisfied Toriyama Sekien with a painting of Kusanagi.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Complete the Myth “Seeking Rare Yokai” in the Bakumatsu region. As part of this Myth, you will speak with Himiko and create a painting of her Guardian Spirit, Kusanagi. This objective is mandatory, so the trophy unlocks automatically when you finish the Myth. Before “Seeking Rare Yokai” becomes available, you must first complete the Myth “Yokai Horde Picture Scroll” in the Heian region. The required order is: Complete “Yokai Horde Picture Scroll” in Heian. Progress to Bakumatsu. Complete “Seeking Rare Yokai.” The trophy unlocks at the end of the Myth.
Tip
If “Seeking Rare Yokai” is not appearing, check that you completed “Yokai Horde Picture Scroll” first. The two Myths are directly connected.

Trophy: Match Made in Heaven
Performed a Soul Match for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Perform a Soul Match for the first time. Soul Match becomes available through the Blacksmith in the Eternal Rift. The Eternal Rift unlocks automatically through story progress after the first Crucible, and you can return there from the map by pressing L3. Before you can use Soul Match, complete the Myth “A Fierce Flame.” This Myth starts automatically during “The Hamamatsu Incident” after you leave the Eternal Rift for the first time, so you cannot permanently miss it. Once the Myth is complete: Speak with the Blacksmith. Choose Soul Extraction. Sacrifice unwanted low-level equipment to obtain Soul Ore. Choose Soul Match. Select a piece of equipment and raise its level. The trophy unlocks as soon as you complete the Soul Match.
Tip
Use gear you already planned to get rid of for Soul Extraction. There is no reason to sacrifice something useful just to teach the Blacksmith that you understand the menu.

Trophy: Pain, Pain, Go Away
In "A Sinister End," repelled all of Murakumo's attacks.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
During the final Main Mission “A Sinister End,” repel Murakumo every time it attacks you from a distance. Throughout the mission, Murakumo appears as a bird-like enemy that fires lightning at you before flying away. Each time it shows up, shoot it with a ranged weapon so it retreats before you move past the encounter. Being hit by the lightning does not appear to void the trophy. The important part is making Murakumo fly away at each opportunity. The final encounter happens during the “Death Veil” fight. The trophy should unlock as soon as Murakumo flies away for the last time.
Tip
Keep a Bow or Gun ready throughout the mission so you can tag Murakumo as soon as it appears instead of scrambling through your equipment while lightning is already heading toward your face.
Warning
This trophy can behave generously and may unlock even if you miss a shot or take damage, but the safest method is to shoot Murakumo every time it appears. If it does not unlock, replay “A Sinister End” through the Battle Scroll at any Shrine and try again.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bll14yeW0Jc

Trophy: Remodeler
Remodeled a piece of equipment for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Remodel any piece of equipment for the first time. Go to the Blacksmith in the Eternal Rift and choose Remodel. Select any eligible piece of equipment, choose an attribute to remodel, then confirm the change. The trophy unlocks immediately after the remodel is completed. That’s it. One stat adjustment and suddenly you are apparently a certified equipment engineer.

Trophy: Ruckus in the Sanctuary
In "Black Feather Sanctuary," drove out all crows from Matsuo-taisha Shrine and defeated Otoroshi.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
During the Main Mission “Black Feather Sanctuary,” drive away all 3 crows and then defeat Otoroshi. “Black Feather Sanctuary” is a mandatory story mission in Main Region 2: Heian. When the region gives you 3 yellow mission markers, this is the westernmost one in the Sagano area. During the mission, there are 3 crows sitting on Torii Gates that fire purple projectiles at you. You need to shoot each crow before getting too close to it. Use a Bow or Gun and hit them with L2 + R2. You do not need to kill them. Landing a hit and making them disappear is enough. The 3 crows are found here: Immediately after the first Shrine, directly ahead near the start of the mission. After the second Shrine, once you pass through the ice cave. After the third Shrine, when entering the larger temple area. After driving away all 3 crows, continue through the mission normally and defeat Otoroshi at the end. The trophy unlocks after Otoroshi is defeated.
Tip
Take your time when entering each new area and look for the crow before running forward. If you get too close first, you can lose your chance for that attempt.
Warning
You must drive away all 3 crows and defeat Otoroshi in the same mission run. If you miss one, the mission can be replayed anytime through Shrines > Battle Scrolls > Heian > Black Feather Sanctuary. Apparently the real boss fight here is resisting the urge to sprint directly underneath three extremely suspicious birds.

Trophy: Senji Toyo
Recovered the blacksmith's memory.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Recover the Blacksmith’s memory by completing the Myth “Memories in the Blade.” This Myth becomes available after reaching Main Region 2: Heian and defeating Great Tengu during the Main Mission “Sacred Mountain Defiled.” After that, return to the Blacksmith and speak with her to begin the Myth. To complete “Memories in the Blade,” you must locate 3 hidden swords tied to the Blacksmith’s lost memories. Find all 3 swords and complete the Myth to unlock the trophy.
Tip
If the Blacksmith is not offering the Myth yet, make sure you have defeated Great Tengu in “Sacred Mountain Defiled” first.
Warning
The 3 hidden swords must all be found to finish the Myth. Starting the quest alone is not enough.

Trophy: Unimpeded
Used all methods to traverse Spirit Veins.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Use every type of Spirit Vein traversal method. Spirit Veins are special open-world shortcuts that require specific Guardian Spirits to use. All Guardian Spirits needed for this trophy are earned automatically through story progress, so you cannot permanently miss the required abilities. The required Guardian Spirits are: Nekomata Automatically equipped after completing “Escape from Hitokoto Slope” and reaching the open world. Kongojishi Reward from “Tiger’s Cause” at the end of Warring States. Narikama Tanuki Also rewarded from “Tiger’s Cause.” Kurama Tengu Reward from “Sacred Mountain Defiled,” the first main mission in Heian. Oh Reward from “Frozen City, Blazing Tree” after defeating Minamoto no Yoritomo. Kusanagi Reward from “The Spirit Tree Village” after defeating Kusanagi in Antiquity. Shami-Choro Reward from “The Sweet Sound of Strings” after defeating Takasugi Shinsaku in Bakumatsu. Golden Shachi Reward from “Scion of the Gods” after defeating Okita Soji and Tokugawa Yoshinobu. Murakumo Reward from the final mission “A Sinister End” after defeating Hiruko. As you work through the collectible trophies, you will naturally need to use every Spirit Vein type, so this should unlock on its own during normal Platinum cleanup.
Tip
Do not go out of your way to farm this early. Story progression gives you the required Guardian Spirits automatically, and collectible hunting will force you to use the different Spirit Veins anyway.
Warning
Guardian Spirits obtained from Side Missions are not needed for this trophy.

This takes place during the second Crucible in Main Region 4: Bakumatsu. No special conditions here. Just survive the fight and keep the time-traveling samurai disaster tour moving.

Nioh 3 opens up much faster than the previous games. After the short prologue, you are dropped into the open world, where exploration becomes just as important as the main missions. The opening hours are still the toughest part, so take your time learning the new combat systems instead of trying to sprint straight through the story.
Experiment with both Samurai and Ninja styles early. Samurai keeps the familiar stance-based combat from the previous games, while Ninja gives you cheaper attacks, stronger critical damage from behind, and ranged Ninjutsu such as Shuriken and explosives. If a fight is giving you trouble, Ninja style gives you plenty of ways to create distance and make enemies regret bringing a sword to an explosives fight.
Explore each region thoroughly as you progress. Kodama are especially valuable because they increase your available Elixirs, while other exploration rewards provide permanent boosts to Attack, Defense, and Luck. Every collectible you find also raises that region's Exploration Level, and once you reach Exploration Level 4, the remaining collectibles are automatically marked on the map. Press R2 on the map to check your regional completion tracker.
As the world expands across the Warring States, Heian, Antiquity, and Bakumatsu eras, keep mixing main missions with Myths, Sub Missions, and exploration. There are 39 Myths scattered throughout the game, and completing this side content naturally makes your character stronger before the tougher story encounters.
Some collectibles and locations cannot be reached immediately. Spirit Veins can block certain items until you have progressed further through the story, while some Enemy Bases are tied to Myths or Main Missions. If something looks impossible to reach, don't waste half an hour trying to invent a route that doesn't exist yet. Continue progressing and return later.
There are more than 1,000 collectibles in Nioh 3, but thankfully the Platinum does not require every single one. Around 460 are trophy-related. Valuables, Nurikabe, Crucible Wraiths, and Crucible Spikes are not required, so you can safely skip those unless you simply enjoy vacuuming every icon off a map.
By the later regions, thorough exploration should have given you a much stronger character, more healing, and plenty of permanent stat bonuses. Keep finishing Myths and required collectibles alongside the story instead of leaving the entire world map glowing with unfinished icons for cleanup.
The one thing worth paying special attention to during missions is every Shrine and Bodhisattva Statue. Walk close enough to activate each one whenever you encounter it. Some exist only inside missions and are not tracked by the normal open-world completion counters, so running past one can mean replaying missions later to figure out what you missed.
Fortunately, these checkpoints are placed directly along the main route, are visible on the map, and are not hidden down obscure side paths. As long as you aren't speedrunning through every mission with your eyes closed, you should activate them naturally.
If you have explored thoroughly, completed the Myths, collected everything required, and activated the mission Shrines and Bodhisattva Statues along the way, there may be very little cleanup left by the time you defeat the final boss. Nioh 3's Platinum is considerably less grind-heavy than the previous games despite the enormous number of things scattered around the world.
Anything you missed can still be completed after the story. The open world remains available in free roam, and missions can be replayed through the Battle Scroll found at Shrines. Use the regional completion trackers to identify what is unfinished rather than wandering around hoping a missing collectible eventually introduces itself.
Prioritize Exploration Level 4 in each area because having collectibles automatically marked on the map makes cleanup much faster. Leave inaccessible Spirit Vein collectibles and gated Enemy Bases until the required story or Myth progression opens them naturally. And if a boss, collectible, Myth, or progression requirement has you stuck, Ask Gami and get back to hunting the Platinum instead of spending your evening arguing with the map.
