Platinum Path
EARLY GAME Nioh can feel pretty brutal at the start, especially if this is your first game built around this kind of combat. Spend some time learning Ki management, blocking, dodging, and the basic rhythm of your weapons instead of worrying about the Platinum immediately. Pick two weapons you enjoy, build your attributes around their scaling, and do not ignore Ninjutsu or Onmyo Magic — both can make some of Nioh’s na...

Nioh - 100% Walkthrough Part 1 [PS4] – Mission: The Man with the Guardian Spirit
Trophy: You Are Nioh
Obtained all trophies.
Type: Platinum

Trophy: Teamwork
Completed 10 missions with NPC or in the “Yokai Realm with a companion” with other users.
Type: Bronze
Category: Online
Unlock Details
Complete 10 missions either with an NPC companion or through “Yokai Realm with a companion” with another player. You can do this solo by repeatedly completing the side mission “Greater Demon Hunting” in the Kinki Region, since that mission includes an NPC companion. Simply finish it 10 times. Another good solo option is “Master of the Twin Blades” in the Omi Region. This becomes available after reaching 500,000 proficiency with dual swords and completing the related Mystic Art dojo mission. If you prefer co-op, go to the Starting Point on the world map, then Tori Gate > Yokai Realm with companion. Complete 10 missions with another player. For a private match, both players should use the same password in the online settings, with one player choosing Search for Companion and the other choosing Wait for Companion.
Tip
The NPC method is the easiest if you want to avoid relying on another player. Pick the mission you can clear fastest and just run it until the trophy pops. Ten missions sounds worse than it is once you get into a rhythm.

Trophy: Kodama Leader
Collected all Kodama.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all 150 Kodama. There are six regions in Nioh, and each region contains 25 Kodama spread across main missions and side missions: Kyushu Chugoku Kinki Tokai Sekigahara Omi That gives you 150 Kodama in total. Kodama are tied to five blessing categories at shrines: Amrita drops Weapon drops Armor drops Elixir drops Material drops Each category has five Kodama per region, giving 25 per region. The more Kodama you collect in a region, the stronger its blessings become. Kodama progress is tracked separately for each region. The Kodama you found in earlier regions stay collected, but their blessing effects do not carry into a new region until you find that region’s Kodama as well. None of the Kodama are missable. You can return to any mission later through Mission Select, and the mission screen shows how many Kodama you have already found there. You can also check overall progress through: Touch Pad > Titles > Gameplay Record > Other > Kodama Found This shows a percentage rather than an exact total. If you find a missing Kodama during cleanup, you do not need to finish the mission. Kodama are saved immediately, so you can collect one and leave using a Himorogi Fragment. Some side missions and Twilight Missions reuse areas from main missions, and Kodama remain in the same locations. That can give you another opportunity to grab anything you missed.
Tip
Use Kodama Sense whenever possible. The Guardian Spirits Shinka and Tengen Kujaku can provide Kodama Sense, and some equipment can have the effect as well. It marks nearby Kodama as green dots on the radar and can make cleanup much easier. Since you also need every hot spring for Spa Lover, combining both collectible hunts whenever possible can save a lot of repeat trips. This is a big collectible trophy, but it is very manageable if you grab Kodama while progressing through the story. Do that and the final cleanup becomes a handful of missing green friends instead of a 150-Kodama scavenger hunt from hell.

Trophy: Ressurector of the Hiragumo
Collected all fragments of the Hiragumo teakettle from Shigisan.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all six Hiragumo teakettle fragments in the main mission “Spider Nest Castle” in the Kinki Region. The fragments come from the large orange spider webs scattered around the mission. When you approach or shoot one, a large spider will appear. Kill it, then pick up the purple fragment it drops. The six locations are: First web — unmissable and required to progress. Second web — also unmissable and required to progress. Third web — inside the spider cave after dropping through the hole near the house. Fourth web — after the spider cave on a watchtower. This is the easiest one to miss, so shoot it with your bow if needed. Fifth web — on the hill after opening the gate and reaching the third shrine. Sixth web — on top of the hill after the burning wheel enemy, before entering the large building.
Warning
If you replay the mission, you need to collect all six fragments again in that run. Do not grab five, leave, and expect the game to remember your heroic spider extermination efforts.

Trophy: Spa Healer
Bathed in first hot spring.
Type: Bronze
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Bathe in any hot spring for the first time. You will find hot springs hidden throughout Nioh’s missions, and interacting with one is enough to unlock the trophy. You will eventually need to find every hot spring for Spa Lover, so this should come naturally once you start exploring properly.
Tip
Hot springs also restore health and give you a temporary regeneration effect, so they are useful even when you are not trophy hunting. Free healing and a collectible checkmark? Nioh does occasionally give you nice things.

Trophy: Spa Lover
Bathed in every hot spring.
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Bathe in all 20 hot springs. Hot springs restore your health and give you a temporary health regeneration buff, so they are not just collectibles — they are actually useful, especially before a boss fight or when your elixirs are running low. Most hot springs are tucked away near the edges of missions or in side areas, so explore thoroughly instead of following the main path like the floor is lava. The good news is that progress saves immediately after you bathe in one, so you do not need to reach the next shrine or finish the mission. Anything you miss can be collected later through Mission Select. You can check your progress through: Touch Pad > Gameplay Record > Other Look for Hot Springs Discovered (%) and Hot Springs Bathed In. Be careful with the “Hot Springs Bathed In” number because using the same hot spring more than once increases the count, so it is not a perfect tracker. Main missions never have more than one hot spring.
Tip
If you are also hunting Kodama, grab the Kodama first and then look for the hot spring. Combining both collectible runs saves a lot of repeat trips. If the trophy does not unlock when expected, replay the missions and revisit each hot spring. Once you know the layouts, a full cleanup can be much faster than the first run. This one is mostly exploration, not difficulty. Find all 20, enjoy your samurai spa tour, and try not to think too hard about who is maintaining these perfectly usable hot springs in the middle of demon-infested war zones.

Trophy: Axe Master
Acquired mystic art for the axe.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 500,000 proficiency with the axe, complete the axe Mystic Art dojo mission, then purchase the Mystic Art with skill points. The Mystic Art dojo missions become available after completing “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region. All axe proficiency you earned earlier still counts toward the requirement. You can check your axe proficiency in the additional player stats by pressing R1.
Tip
If you barely touched the axe during the story, do not worry. New Game+ enemies provide much faster proficiency gains. Use a high-level mission such as “Isle of Demons” and start introducing every yokai you meet to a very large piece of metal.

Trophy: Dual Sword Master
Acquired mystic art for the dual swords.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 500,000 proficiency with dual swords, complete the dual sword Mystic Art dojo mission, then purchase the Mystic Art with skill points. The dojo mission becomes available after completing “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region and reaching the required proficiency. Any proficiency earned earlier in the game still counts. You can check your dual sword proficiency from the additional player stats by pressing R1.
Tip
If dual swords were not part of your main build, save this grind for New Game+. Higher-level enemies give much better proficiency, making the process considerably faster. “Isle of Demons” at level 180 is a good farming spot.

Trophy: Friend of Guardians
Collected all Guardian Spirits.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Collect all 22 Guardian Spirits. Guardian Spirits are awarded from main missions and side missions, so the simplest way to get this trophy is to complete all required missions. There is no separate collectible hunt here — just keep clearing content and the spirits will come to you. The final Guardian Spirit is obtained from the Kelley boss near the end of the story.
Tip
Since you already need to complete the main and side missions for Samurai of Legend, there is no reason to farm this separately. Finish your mission cleanup first and this should fall into place naturally.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAblwBZHSd8

Trophy: Full-fledged Samurai
Reached level 100.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach level 100. Keep earning Amrita from enemies and mission rewards, then use it at shrines to level up. You should reach level 100 naturally around the end of the story if you are completing a healthy amount of side content along the way.
Tip
If you finish the story and are still a few levels short, jump into New Game+ missions. They give much larger Amrita rewards and should get you over the line quickly.

Trophy: Gesture Master
Acquired 40 gestures.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Acquire 40 gestures. You start the game with several gestures already unlocked, and those count toward the total. Most of the rest come naturally from completing main missions, side missions, and other activities, so this is something you can mostly let build in the background. If you are still short near the end of the game, visit the Hidden Teahouse after completing the main mission “Spider Nest Castle.” You can spend Glory there to buy additional gestures. Glory is earned mainly by defeating revenants and helping other players in co-op, so either method works if you need to top up your total. Some gestures also come from miscellaneous tasks, such as giving dung balls to the dung lover in “The Defiled Castle.”
Tip
Do not go out of your way to farm this early. Complete the missions you already need for the Platinum first, then check your total. There is a good chance you will already be close to 40, and buying the last few gestures is much less painful than grinding all of them from scratch. Forty gestures sounds like a lot until you realize William is apparently building a full social-emote collection in between getting mauled by yokai.

Trophy: Kusarigama Master
Acquired mystic art for the kusarigama.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 500,000 proficiency with the kusarigama, complete its Mystic Art dojo mission, then purchase the Mystic Art with skill points. First complete the main mission “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region. Once you have 500,000 kusarigama proficiency, the appropriate dojo mission will unlock. Complete it, buy the Mystic Art, and the trophy is yours. Proficiency increases whenever you damage enemies and continues increasing even after a weapon reaches maximum familiarity. Any proficiency earned before the dojo missions unlock also counts. You can check your proficiency by opening the player stats and pressing R1 to view the additional statistics.
Tip
New Game+ is the fastest place to finish this grind. Higher-level enemies award significantly more proficiency, and “Isle of Demons” at level 180 is a useful farming option. You can clear normal enemies or repeatedly damage Onryoki and let him kill you before the fight ends. Some weapons and accessories also provide proficiency bonuses, so equip them if you have them. The grind across all five weapon types can take a couple of hours, but once you settle into the rhythm it goes pretty quickly. Five weapons, five Mystic Arts, and a whole lot of yokai regretting their life choices.

Trophy: Master of Quality
Collected all the best materials.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Collect all 22 of the highest-quality smithing materials. You will get them in three main ways: disassembling equipment at the blacksmith, completing missions and Twilight Missions, and getting rare drops from specific yokai and bosses. For the disassembly materials, break down the following equipment types at the blacksmith: Tamahagane — Katana, Dual Katana, Kusarigama Wood — Spear, Rifle, Bow Ingot — Axe, Handcannon, Foot Armor Lacquer — Head Armor Leather Cord — Arm Armor Leather Kozane — Light Torso Armor, Light Leg Armor, Light Foot Armor Iron Kozane — Medium/Heavy Torso Armor, Medium/Heavy Leg Armor, Medium Foot Armor Divine Fragment — Any Divine gear The remaining materials come from mission rewards, Twilight Missions, enemies, and bosses: Demon’s Horn — Dropped by large yokai and is fairly common. Writhing Tongue — Dropped by Onyudo, the large yokai that attack with their tongues. Ogress Claw — Reward from “The Bleeding Spider Lily” Twilight Mission or a rare drop from Ogress. Hank of Yokai Hair — Mission reward, “An Ominous Cavern” Twilight Mission, or a rare drop from Hino-enma and Flying Bolts. Bangasa Rib — Mission reward or “An Ominous Cavern” Twilight Mission. Raven Tengu Feather — Mission or Twilight Mission reward and can also drop from Raven Tengu. Spider’s Leg Husk — Rare drop from large spiders in “Spider Nest Castle” or from Joro-Gumo. Gargantuan Tail Bone — Can drop from Gasha-dokuro in “The Source of Evil.” White Tiger Fur — Reward from “The Best and the Worst” Twilight Mission or a rare drop from White Tiger. Umi-bozu’s Eyestone — Reward from “Foreboding Seas” or a rare drop from Umi-bozu. Nue’s Claw — Dropped by Nue bosses, which appear several times throughout the game. Kappa Shell — Dropped by Kappa. These can be farmed in the side mission “Finders, Keepers,” but the drop rate is low. Great Centipede’s Fang — Dropped by the Great Centipede boss in “The Silver Mine Writhes.” Orochi Scale — Dropped by Yamata-no-Orochi when replaying “The Demon King Revealed.” You do not need to farm everything immediately. By the time you finish the story and work through the required Twilight Missions, you should already have a good chunk of the list. Check what you are missing first, then target only those materials.
Tip
Save this trophy for later cleanup when your character is stronger and Twilight Missions are easier. That way you can combine material hunting with other mission and gear cleanup instead of turning it into one giant shopping list from yokai hell.
Warning
Several of these materials are rare drops, so do not panic if a boss or enemy refuses to hand one over immediately. Keep replaying the relevant mission and focus only on the materials you are actually missing. This one is more patience than difficulty — eventually the loot goblins will surrender.

Trophy: Ninjutsu Master
Acquired mystic art for Ninjutsu.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Complete the dojo mission “A True Ninja,” then purchase the Ninjutsu Mystic Art for 5 Ninja Skill Points. To unlock “A True Ninja,” you need to complete the main mission “A Defiled Holy Mountain” and invest 20 points into Dexterity. You also need to clear the earlier dojo missions in “The Way of the Ninja” questline: Novice requires 5 Dexterity. Adept requires 10 Dexterity. Veteran requires 15 Dexterity. A True Ninja requires 20 Dexterity. Once “A True Ninja” appears, complete it, open the skill menu, buy the Mystic Art, and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
If your build does not normally use much Dexterity, you can respec later rather than forcing 20 points into it permanently. Get the dojo mission done, buy the Mystic Art, then go back to the build you actually want. Ninja homework complete.

Trophy: Onmyo Magic Master
Acquired mystic art for Onmyo Magic.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Complete the dojo mission “A Greater Harmony,” then purchase the Onmyo Magic Mystic Art for 5 Onmyo Magic Skill Points. To unlock “A Greater Harmony,” first complete the main mission “A Defiled Holy Mountain” and invest 20 points into Magic. You must also complete the earlier stages of “The Way of the Onmyo” dojo questline: Novice requires 5 Magic. Adept requires 10 Magic. Veteran requires 15 Magic. A Greater Harmony requires 20 Magic. After completing “A Greater Harmony,” the Mystic Art becomes available in the skill menu. Buy it for 5 Onmyo Magic Skill Points and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
If 20 Magic does not fit your normal build, treat this as a temporary detour. Respec, meet the requirement, finish the dojo mission, buy the Mystic Art, and then put your stats back where you want them. A little magical bureaucracy for one Bronze trophy.

Trophy: Regular Smith Customer
Made a total of 60 requests at the blacksmith.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Make a total of 60 requests at the blacksmith. Each request costs a patronage level, and patronage is earned by spending money at the blacksmith. While at the blacksmith, open Dialogue and choose “I have a request for Tome.” You can spend patronage levels on bonuses such as Sell Price Markup and Purchase Price Discount. Requests made through Muramasa also count once you unlock him by completing the side mission “The Trail of the Master.” You will need to spend a huge amount of money here — roughly 20 million in total. For the first 30 requests, you earn about 1 patronage level for every 200,000 spent. After that, the amount needed gradually increases. Start working on this early. Sell unwanted equipment, spend money on forging, Soul Matching, equipment purchases, Books of Reincarnation, and other blacksmith services. It does not matter what you spend the money on as long as it is actually spent at the blacksmith. Do not try selling equipment and buying the exact same items back. Buyback purchases do not count toward patronage. For money farming in New Game+, two useful methods are: “Request for Ginchiyo” — run through the mission, find the Old Charm, and complete it for over 100,000 money. The charm can appear in different boxes, so you may need to check several locations. “The Battle of Ohashi Bridge” — farm revenants for Divine equipment and sell the drops. Higher-level revenants can drop several pieces at once, making this a very strong money farm if you can kill them quickly. You may also occasionally earn extra patronage points by exhausting dialogue with Tome and Muramasa, so check in with them from time to time. Apparently even blacksmith small talk can contribute to the Platinum.
Tip
Unlock Sell Price Markup as early as possible. You are going to be selling a mountain of equipment during the Platinum, so even a small increase adds up over time. The supplied guide also notes that dismantling unwanted gear and selling the resulting materials can sometimes earn more money than selling the equipment directly, so compare the value before dumping everything.
Warning
Older versions of Nioh had dialogue exploits that could generate extra patronage points by repeatedly talking to Tome or Muramasa. These methods were tied to early patches and should not be relied on for a current playthrough. Plan around earning the money normally and treat any bonus dialogue points as a nice surprise. This is one of the longer cleanup grinds in Nioh, but it gets much easier if you start feeding money into the blacksmith throughout the game. Future you does not want to reach 59 requests with an empty wallet and a thousand pieces of armor wondering where it all went.

Trophy: Samurai of Legend
Completed all missions.
Type: Gold
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Complete all required Main Missions, Side Missions, Dojo Missions, and Twilight Missions. New Game+ missions on Way of the Strong are not required. Most side missions unlock naturally as you complete main missions, although some are part of quest chains and require earlier missions to be finished first. There is also one less-obvious side mission in the Omi Region that becomes available after completing the Mystic Art dojo missions. In it, you fight several enemies and a Nue alongside an NPC companion. You will also need to complete the rotating Twilight Missions. According to the supplied guide, these include: The Blessed Village — Level 15 An Ominous Cavern — Level 20 The Squirming Sprite — Level 30 Foreboding Seas — Level 49 The Best and the Worst — Level 75 The Bleeding Spider Lily — Level 90 Where Dark Forces Gather — Level 100 Bearer of Ill Tidings — Level 125 Evil in the Ether — Level 145 Completed Twilight Missions show a red checkmark when highlighted. Because only certain Twilight Missions are available at a time, knock out the lower-level ones whenever you see them instead of leaving everything until the end. You can check your overall mission progress through Touchpad > Titles > Gameplay Record > Other > Mission Achievement Rate. The real test comes from the endgame side missions “A Meeting on the Other Shore” and “The Two Kings: Nioh,” where Nioh apparently looked at one boss and decided that simply wasn’t rude enough. Both missions make you fight two bosses at once. A Living Weapon setup can make these fights much easier. Save Soulstones and use them from your quick-item slots to refill your Living Weapon gauge when it runs out. The supplied guide recommends a spear for its wider attacks, along with Extraction Talismans to help maintain Living Weapon through Amrita gained during combat.
Tip
Save your Soulstones for the difficult endgame double-boss missions instead of burning through them during normal progression. Also complete easier Twilight Missions whenever they appear. Future you will be extremely grateful when you are not waiting around for one missing mission.
Warning
The Living Weapon strategy was heavily nerfed in patches after 1.03. The supplied guide notes that it can still work on later versions, but you will need much more careful Soulstone and Extraction Talisman management rather than expecting permanent invincibility. These fights are tough, but they are absolutely manageable — get your build ready, take them one at a time as much as possible, and do not let two angry bosses bully you out of that Gold trophy.
Video Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKgdK2cFArI

Trophy: Spear Master
Acquired mystic art for the spear.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 500,000 proficiency with the spear, complete the spear Mystic Art dojo mission, then buy the Mystic Art using skill points. You must first complete the main mission “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region to unlock the relevant dojo missions. Proficiency gained before unlocking the dojo still counts toward the 500,000 requirement. Check your current spear proficiency by opening the player stats and pressing R1 for the additional statistics.
Tip
New Game+ makes this much quicker. Farm higher-level enemies in “Isle of Demons,” or repeatedly fight Onryoki and let him defeat you before his health reaches zero. Not the most dignified training method, but the trophy does not judge.

Trophy: Sword Master
Acquired mystic art for the sword.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 500,000 proficiency with the sword, complete the sword Mystic Art dojo mission, then purchase the Mystic Art with skill points. The weapon Mystic Art dojo missions become available after completing the main mission “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region. Any sword proficiency earned before this point still counts, so none of your earlier hacking and slashing goes to waste. You can check weapon proficiency from your player stats by pressing R1 to view the additional stats.
Tip
New Game+ is the fastest place to farm proficiency because higher-level enemies award much more. “Isle of Demons” at level 180 is a strong farming option. Fight the regular enemies or repeatedly damage Onryoki, then let him kill you before you finish the fight so you can repeat the process.

Trophy: The Beginning of a Samurai
Reached level 10.
Type: Bronze
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach level 10. You earn Amrita by defeating enemies and completing missions, then spend it at shrines to level up. This should come very early through normal progression, so there is no need to stop and grind for it. Just keep playing and the trophy will pop before William has had much time to regret coming to Japan.

Trophy: Ultimate Pro
Reached maximum proficiency with your first weapon.
Type: Silver
Category: Grind
Unlock Details
Reach 999,999 proficiency with any one weapon type. Proficiency increases whenever you damage enemies with that weapon, and it keeps building even after the weapon itself has reached maximum familiarity. If you stick with the same weapon type for most of the game, this should come naturally around the middle of the campaign. You can check your proficiency by opening your player stats and pressing R1 to view the additional statistics.
Tip
If you still need to grind this out later, New Game+ is much faster because higher-level enemies award significantly more proficiency. A strong farming option is the New Game+ version of “Isle of Demons.” You can fight the regular enemies or repeatedly damage Onryoki, then let him kill you before the fight ends so you can repeat the process. Some weapons and accessories also provide proficiency bonuses, which can shave a little time off the grind.

Trophy: End Times
Defeated Derrick the Executioner.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat Derrick the Executioner during the main mission “The Queen’s Eyes” in the Omi Region. From the second shrine, the one closest to Derrick’s original boss arena from the Prologue, head downstairs into the basement. You will find Derrick waiting there for a rematch. By this point in the game, he is much less threatening than he was at the beginning. Stay at a distance and wait for him to use his dash attack. Dodge to the side, land two or three attacks, then move away before he turns and retaliates. Repeat the same pattern: Keep your distance. Wait for the dash. Dodge sideways. Attack two or three times. Back away. Repeat until he goes down.
Tip
Do not overcomplicate this one. You are considerably stronger now, while Derrick is still basically using the same opening-day playbook. There is something deeply satisfying about returning to the first boss after an entire game of getting stronger and politely reminding him who the real problem is now.

Trophy: Master of Chaos
Confused an enemy for the first time.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Confuse an enemy by applying two different elemental status effects to it at the same time. A simple method is to use a Water-enhanced weapon on a large enemy until the Water effect is active, then switch to a Fire-based Living Weapon or another Fire weapon enhancement. Once both elemental effects are active together, the enemy becomes Confused and the trophy unlocks. You can also do this with elemental amulets or Onmyo Magic instead of Living Weapon. In co-op, this can happen naturally if two players are using different elemental attacks on the same enemy.
Tip
Large enemies and bosses are the easiest targets because they can survive long enough for you to apply both effects. Onryoki is a good option if you want to force it early. This may also unlock naturally later in the game when fighting enemies near flying elemental skulls, since destroying them can add elemental effects to your weapon. If it happens by accident, congratulations — chaos really does find a way.

Trophy: Nue Slayer
Defeated the Nue of Mount Hiei.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat the optional Nue boss in the main mission “The Demon of Mount Hiei.” This is the same type of Nue you fought earlier in “The Spirit Stone Slumbers,” but this one does not display a boss health bar at the bottom of the screen. A safe strategy is to wait for Nue to use its lightning or poison breath. When it does, dodge to the left side of its head and attack with quick low-stance strikes. When Nue begins using lightning attacks, watch for its belly to glow yellow. This is your opening to use a heavy attack and drain its Ki. Once its Ki is broken, unload as much damage as you can before it recovers. When it starts recovering, back away quickly because lightning will strike your position.
Tip
Use the nearby hot spring before the fight for the health regeneration buff. It gives you a little extra breathing room if Nue decides today is the day you get personally introduced to electricity. This fight is much easier once you recognize the openings. Stay patient, punish the breath and lightning attacks, and do not get greedy. Nue loves greedy players almost as much as Nioh loves killing them.

Trophy: Ugly Fellow
Used the mask of an ugly fellow to defeat an enemy.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat an enemy using a Hyottoko Mask. You can get a Hyottoko Mask in several reliable ways: “The Conspirators” in the Chugoku Region — pick one up from a corpse in the cave before the final room with the two ninjas. It respawns when you replay the mission. “Wreathed in Flame” in the Kyushu Region — awarded automatically for completing the mission. Hidden Teahouse — buy one for 220 Glory after unlocking the Teahouse by completing “Spider Nest Castle.” Equip the mask in a shortcut slot, weaken a normal enemy until they are almost dead, then use the mask while standing close to them. It breathes fire in a short range, so the enemy needs to be right in front of you. If the fire kills the enemy, the trophy unlocks.
Tip
Use a weak enemy and bring their health down to a sliver first. That gives you the best chance of getting the kill without wasting the mask.
Warning
The mask is consumed when used. If the enemy survives, you will need another one, so do not test your luck on something chunky unless you enjoy unnecessary errands. Nothing says “master samurai” quite like finishing someone off with a ridiculous fire-breathing mask.

Trophy: Yokai Quelling Master
Defeated all types of yokai.
Type: Bronze
Category: Combat
Unlock Details
Defeat every type of yokai at least once. You can check your progress by opening Touch Pad > Titles > Gameplay Record > Small Yokai Defeated. You can also view enemy illustrations through Touch Pad > Amrita Memories > Yokai Illustrations. The large yokai are tied to story bosses and should come naturally. Most smaller yokai appear frequently throughout the game as well, so if you clear missions thoroughly instead of sprinting past everything, you should make steady progress without needing much cleanup. The two rarer enemies called out in the supplied guide are: Karakasa Umbrella — found in the side mission “The Ogress.” Mudman — found in the main mission “The Defiled Castle.”
Tip
If you are missing something late in the game, check your Gameplay Record first instead of blindly replaying missions. That will save a lot of wandering around Japan wondering which weird demon you somehow forgot to murder.
Warning
If you defeat bosses in co-op, make sure you personally land the killing blow. According to the supplied guide, the boss may not count toward this trophy otherwise.

Trophy: Disguiser
Used a disguise.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
First complete the main mission “Spider Nest Castle” in the Kinki Region. This unlocks access to the Hidden Teahouse from the Starting Point on the world map. Once inside the Hidden Teahouse: Select Trade. Choose Transform. Buy any disguise. Select Transform again and equip it. The cheapest disguise is Hattori Hanzo and costs 1,300 Glory. You can earn Glory by defeating revenants from red graves or by helping other players in co-op. Once you equip the disguise, the trophy will unlock. Your actual gear stays equipped underneath it, so this is basically Nioh letting William play dress-up without sacrificing his build.
Tip
If you are short on Glory, replay lower-level missions with plenty of revenant graves or help other players in co-op. Both are good ways to build it up quickly.

Trophy: Dungball Roller
Became Ryunoshin the dung lover's best friend.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Become Ryunoshin’s best friend by giving him enough dung balls in the main mission “The Defiled Castle” in the Tokai Region. You need the equivalent of 30 normal dung balls. Noble Dungballs count for more, so finding a few of those can reduce the grind. The easiest farming method is right at the beginning of “The Defiled Castle”: Kill the 4 Mudman enemies in the water. Return to the shrine to respawn them. Repeat until you have enough dung balls. Head upstairs near the second shrine and find Ryunoshin behind the door. Give him the dung balls in batches. Once you have given him enough, he rewards you with the Horned Turban Kabuto and the trophy unlocks. Mudmen have roughly a 20% chance to drop a normal dung ball, and they can occasionally drop Noble Dungballs as well.
Tip
Mudmen are weak to Fire, so buff your weapon with Fire to kill them quickly and speed up the farm. You may also pick up Noble Dungballs naturally while progressing through the story, so it can be worth waiting until later before doing a full farming session.
Warning
If Ryunoshin stops giving rewards or does not hand over the helmet yet, keep farming and give him more dung balls. He is apparently a man of very specific tastes. Yes, this really is a trophy about collecting poop for a stranger. You have fought giant yokai, ancient warriors, and supernatural horrors, and somehow this may still be the weirdest thing William does all game.

Trophy: Fashionista
Changed your hair style or beard.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Unlock the Barber Menu at the blacksmith, then change William’s hairstyle or beard. To unlock the Barber Menu: Spend money at the blacksmith to earn a patronage point. While in the blacksmith menu, press Circle to speak with Tome. Select “I have a request for Tome.” Choose “Unlock Barber Menu.” Open the Barber Menu and change either your hairstyle or beard. Only 1 patronage point is needed, so this is a very quick trophy once you have spent enough money at the blacksmith.
Tip
Buying a Book of Reincarnation is one quick way to spend enough money to earn patronage. You will also be using the blacksmith plenty throughout the Platinum run, so this can easily come naturally. Once the menu is unlocked, give William a fresh haircut and enjoy one of the few Nioh trophies where absolutely nothing is trying to kill you.

Trophy: Keeper of the Flame
Lit all three evil-warding bonfires in Itsukushima.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Light all three evil-warding bonfires in the main mission “The Ocean Roars Again” in the Chugoku Region. At the start of the mission, speak with Fuku near the shrine. She gives you the Flint needed to light the bonfires. Then find all three bonfires and interact with each one to light it. Once all three are burning, the trophy will unlock. Lighting them also helps during the Umi-bozu boss fight because it prevents the boss from spawning its smaller minions, making the fight much more manageable.
Tip
Definitely light these before fighting Umi-bozu. You get the trophy and make the boss easier at the same time, which is about as close as Nioh gets to giving you a coupon.

Trophy: Twilight Walker
Completed your first Twilight mission.
Type: Silver
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Complete any Twilight Mission. Twilight Missions appear on the far left side of the world map and are marked by glowing red eyes. They are harder versions of missions you have already played, with stronger enemies and altered enemy placements. The available Twilight Missions rotate periodically, so check the world map as you progress through the game. Finish any one of them and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
If the available Twilight Mission is flattening you into the floor, there is no shame in coming back later. Your character will be much stronger after more story progress and better gear, which can turn an ugly fight into something far more manageable.
Warning
Twilight Missions rotate, so the mission you need may not always be available. Since you will eventually need multiple Twilight Missions for Samurai of Legend, it is worth clearing the easier ones whenever they appear.

Trophy: Yokai Telepathy
Communicated with a yokai 10 times.
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Successfully communicate with a yokai 10 times using gestures. This works with Nurikabe, the large walls with eyes, and Mujina, which can appear from chests and imitate your character. Nurikabe are the easiest to farm. A good spot is in the main mission “Deep in the Shadows.” After entering the cave with the first bat swarm, check the nearby side room for a Nurikabe. Stand in front of the wall and use a gesture. Gestures come in blue, yellow, and red categories, and the correct color is randomized. You get two attempts before the Nurikabe becomes hostile. If you use the correct color, the Nurikabe peacefully disappears and it counts as one successful communication. For a reliable farming method: Try two different gesture colors. If both fail and the Nurikabe becomes aggressive, die or reset the encounter. Return and use the third color, which will be the correct one. After the Nurikabe disappears, leave the mission with a Himorogi Fragment. Restart the mission and repeat until you have 10 successful communications. Mujina also count, but instead of guessing a color, copy the exact gesture they perform after transforming into your appearance.
Tip
Nurikabe farming is much faster and more predictable than waiting for Mujina. Once you learn the route in “Deep in the Shadows,” this becomes a quick little game of “which color makes the angry wall stop being an angry wall?”

Nioh can feel pretty brutal at the start, especially if this is your first game built around this kind of combat. Spend some time learning Ki management, blocking, dodging, and the basic rhythm of your weapons instead of worrying about the Platinum immediately. Pick two weapons you enjoy, build your attributes around their scaling, and do not ignore Ninjutsu or Onmyo Magic — both can make some of Nioh’s nastier encounters much more manageable.
Work through the main missions while completing side missions as they appear. There are six regions, and you will eventually need to complete the required main, side, and Twilight Missions for Samurai of Legend. Side missions are worth doing as you go because they provide Guardian Spirits, gestures, collectibles, equipment, and other useful rewards. Twilight Missions can be rough early on, so clear the lower-level ones when you feel comfortable and leave the nastier versions until you have better gear.
Start collecting Kodama and using every hot spring you find during normal progression. You need all Kodama for Kodama Leader and every hot spring for Spa Lover, so grabbing them now saves a giant cleanup tour later. You can check your collectible progress through the Gameplay Record if you are unsure what you are missing.
As your build starts coming together, keep experimenting with equipment and improving the weapons you actually enjoy using. You do not need to obsess over perfect gear yet — Nioh will happily shower you with enough swords, armor, and assorted pointy objects to outfit a small army. Focus on progressing through every region, finishing side content, and naturally working toward trophies tied to Guardian Spirits, gestures, yokai types, levels, and general mission completion.
One habit matters a lot for the Platinum: deal with unwanted equipment wisely. The source recommends selling gear you do not need rather than simply throwing it away or trading everything for Amrita, because the blacksmith-related Regular Smith Customer trophy requires substantial spending and 60 patronage requests. Increase the Sell Price Markup request early when possible so all that loot starts working toward your future money needs.
Keep an eye on Twilight Missions as your level rises. Several of the highest-quality crafting materials needed for Master of Quality come from these missions, and they become much easier once your character and equipment improve. Do not feel pressured to force the hardest versions early; there will be plenty of time to return with stronger gear and considerably less suffering.
As you approach the end of the story, start checking what remains from the main and side mission lists rather than rushing straight toward the credits. Some endgame side missions are significantly harder than normal missions and can involve fighting multiple bosses, so this is a good time to tighten up your build, improve your equipment, and make proper use of Ninjutsu and Onmyo Magic instead of relying purely on stubbornness.
Finishing the story unlocks New Game+, which is important for the Mystic Art trophies. Higher-level missions provide much faster weapon proficiency, and you need 500,000 proficiency with each of the five weapon types: sword, dual swords, spear, axe, and kusarigama. Reaching the required proficiency unlocks the corresponding dojo mission; complete it and purchase the Mystic Art to finish that weapon’s trophy requirement.
Ninjutsu and Onmyo Magic have their own Mystic Arts as well. The provided guide recommends reaching 20 points in Dexterity and Magic for their dojo requirements. A Book of Reincarnation from the blacksmith can be used to reset your attributes, allowing you to meet these requirements and then rebuild your character afterward. If you get stuck on a build, mission, or requirement along the way, Ask Gami can help you figure out the next move without turning the whole Platinum into homework.
Once the story and required missions are finished, New Game+ is the best place to handle remaining weapon proficiency. Higher-level enemies award proficiency much faster, and the supplied guide specifically recommends the higher-level version of Isle of Demons as an efficient farming option. Finish the five weapon Mystic Arts, then clean up Ninjutsu and Onmyo Magic if you have not already earned them.
Your other major cleanup targets will likely be the blacksmith trophies. Regular Smith Customer requires making 60 requests using patronage levels earned by spending money at the blacksmith. Master of Quality requires collecting the highest-quality materials, many of which come from Twilight Missions, mission rewards, dismantling equipment, and boss drops. By this point you should already have a large portion of what you need just from playing normally.
Finally, sweep up anything you missed: Kodama, hot springs, gestures, yokai types, Guardian Spirits, miscellaneous combat trophies, blacksmith actions, disguise and appearance trophies, Teamwork, and mission-specific objectives such as the bonfires and Hiragumo fragments. Most of these are short compared with the main journey, so the cleanup is more of a final checklist than another full adventure. Keep chipping away at it, and before long William will have survived feudal Japan, a mountain of yokai, and your trophy list.
