Black Myth: Wukong Trophy Roadmap

EARLY GAME

Your first playthrough of Black Myth: Wukong should be about learning the combat, exploring, and enjoying the journey. You do not need to turn every chapter into a trophy checklist. Take your time with bosses, experiment with spells and transformations, and explore secret paths when something catches your eye. Anything you miss can be cleaned up later, so don't let the Platinum steal the fun from your first trip west.

There are two habits worth starting immediately. Upgrade your starting gourd whenever possible for Always Accompanied, rather than spending those upgrade materials on other gourds. You should also gather every plant you pass. Seeds are random drops from plants and are needed for Seeds to Sow, so a little harvesting now can save you from becoming the Destined One, Legendary Plant Picker later.

Be careful with expensive armor upgrades as well. You eventually need to craft every armor piece for Mantled with Might, so saving valuable materials for new armor instead of repeatedly upgrading old pieces can make the Platinum cleanup much easier.

MID GAME

As the world opens up, exploration becomes increasingly valuable. Secret areas contain bosses, materials, equipment, and other items you'll eventually need, so investigate side paths and optional encounters whenever you feel ready. You don't have to collect absolutely everything yet, but completing more naturally now means less backtracking later.

Start making steady progress on journal entries and collectibles such as curios, armor, soaks, drinks, gourds, meditation spots, transformations, spells, vessels, seeds, and formulas. There are also four Loongs to defeat and six Frogs scattered throughout the game. You can handle much of this during cleanup, but knocking things out as you find them keeps the endgame list from becoming enormous.

Most importantly, remember that Black Myth: Wukong does contain missable encounters and items. Some disappear after certain bosses or chapter events, but NG+ gives you another opportunity if something slips past you. Don't restart an entire playthrough because you missed one thing. Keep moving—the monkey has another journey ahead of him anyway.

LATE GAME

As you approach the end of the story, keep exploring but don't worry about finishing absolutely everything before seeing the credits. After completing the game, choose Continue Journey rather than immediately starting New Game+. You'll still have important cleanup to do in your current playthrough, and jumping into NG+ too early can turn a two-playthrough Platinum into a much longer adventure.

Your biggest priorities after the story are completing journal entries, collectibles, optional bosses, all four Loongs, all six Frogs, and the secret areas found in Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5. You'll also want to complete the Treasure Hunter Quest as part of the requirements leading toward the secret ending.

Pay particular attention to the Chapter 5 secret area and its Bull King's Horns. These materials are needed for a special armor set, and you should collect everything available during your first playthrough. Missing the required materials can push your Platinum into NG++, which is one sequel nobody asked for.

TROPHY CLEANUP AND EXTRA TIPS

Before starting NG+, use Continue Journey and clean up as much as possible. Finish remaining journal entries, secret areas, bosses, Loongs, Frogs, collectibles, equipment, spells, transformations, vessels, meditation spots, seeds, formulas, drinks, gourds, soaks, and other trophy requirements that are still available. This is also the time to complete the requirements for the secret ending.

Once you've squeezed everything possible out of the first playthrough, start New Game+. You only need to progress through NG+ to Chapter 5 if your first run was thorough. Chapters 1–4 can move much faster this time, but use the second journey to collect anything you missed and pay special attention to the game's missable encounters.

Several important missables deserve extra care in NG+ if you didn't get them the first time: complete the Horse NPC interactions across Chapters 1–5; defeat the Wandering Wight before progressing too far into Chapter 1's secret-area requirements; handle the Two Rats fight correctly in Chapter 2; defeat all nine Lantern Wardens before Captain Wise-Voice in Chapter 3; encounter Apramana Bat during your first visit to the North Shore of Bitter Lake; obtain the Venomous Armguard from Venom Daoist in Chapter 4; complete the Purple Altars interactions before the Chapter 4 end boss; and finish the Scorpionlord and Daoist Mi encounters before progressing too far through Purple Cloud Mountain.

When you reach Chapter 5 again, return to its secret area for the additional Bull King's Horns needed to finish the armor and weapon-related requirements. With the first playthrough properly cleaned up, NG+ becomes less of a second full adventure and more of a victory lap with a shopping list.

Take it one chapter at a time, don't rush into NG+, and the Platinum is very manageable. If a boss, collectible, missable, or trophy requirement starts giving you trouble along the way, Ask Gami and get back to the journey.
