Grand Theft Auto V Trophy Roadmap

EARLY GAME

Start by simply enjoying the Story Mode and getting comfortable with Los Santos. You can explore, mess around, tackle side content, and generally cause whatever level of chaos feels appropriate. The one important decision comes during the final mission: choose Option C. That keeps the story outcome you want for the cleanest trophy route.

Most of the story trophies will unlock naturally as you progress, including Welcome to Los Santos, A Friendship Resurrected, A Fair Day's Pay, The Moment of Truth, Diamond Hard, Subversive, Blitzed, Small Town, Big Job, The Government Gimps, The Big One!, and eventually To Live or Die in Los Santos. There is no need to obsess over Gold Medals yet. Finish the story first and save mission replay for later.

MID GAME

Once the story is complete, the map and its activities should be largely open to you. This is the best time to start clearing Hobbies and Pastimes, secondary missions, property-related activities, and character-specific side content. Work toward San Andreas Sightseer, All's Fare in Love and War, TP Industries Arms Race, Multi-Disciplined, Red Mist, Kifflom!, Three Man Army, Out of Your Depth, Altruist Acolyte, A Lot of Cheddar, Trading Pure Alpha, Pimp My Sidearm, Wanted: Alive or Alive, and Los Santos Customs.

At the same time, begin working through the large collectible cleanup. You need the spaceship parts for From Beyond the Stars, the Leonora Johnson mystery for A Mystery, Solved, nuclear waste for Waste Management, every Stunt Jump for Show Off, and all Under the Bridge and Knife Flight challenges for Close Shave. Some of these are much easier with an aircraft, and nuclear waste requires the submarine. A Cargobob can also make moving the submarine around much less painful if you want to save yourself some slow underwater sightseeing.

LATE GAME

After most of the open-world cleanup is finished, turn your attention toward 100% completion and Gold Medals. Career Criminal requires 100% Game Completion, so use the in-game completion checklist to see exactly what categories you are still missing rather than wandering around hoping something eventually counts.

For Solid Gold, Baby!, use the Replay menu to replay Story Missions and Strangers and Freaks missions until you have 70 Gold Medals. Strangers and Freaks missions are often the easier choices, so check the individual Gold Medal requirements before starting and focus on missions with simple objectives. You do not need to earn every Gold requirement in a single run, so this is more of a time investment than a serious difficulty wall.

TROPHY CLEANUP AND EXTRA TIPS

Once the single-player side is under control, move into GTA Online. Complete the introduction for Off the Plane, then start earning money through Jobs. Your first practical target is enough cash for an Apartment, Garage, and Insured Vehicle for American Dream. The cheapest useful property route is inexpensive, so avoid blowing all your early money on things that do absolutely nothing for trophies. Los Santos is already very good at separating you from your cash.

From there, settle in for the Online grind. Reach Rank 25 for Three-Bit Gangster, Rank 50 for Making Moves, and Rank 100 for Above the Law while working on Numero Uno, The Midnight Club, Unnatural Selection, Backseat Driver, Run Like The Wind, Clean Sweep, Decorated, Stick Up Kid, Enjoy Your Stay, Crew Cut, Full Refund, and Dialling Digits. Several activities unlock at higher ranks, so do not worry if you cannot attempt everything immediately. Keep earning RP, money, and progress while knocking out the miscellaneous requirements whenever they become available.

GTA V is a long Platinum, but the cleanest approach is to treat it as several smaller games: finish the story, clean up Los Santos, earn your Gold Medals, then move into GTA Online and start climbing the ranks. By the end, you will have robbed banks, solved murders, jumped cars off things they absolutely should not survive, collected nuclear waste, and spent enough money to make Michael question your financial decisions.
