Trophy: Finlay Destination

Die in all possible ways

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Name: Finlay Destination Category: Missable How to Unlock: You need to die in all 15 possible ways during your playthrough. Yes, the goal here is essentially to discover every creative way the Beira D can kill Caz. Several deaths can be earned in multiple places, but others only have a small window of opportunity. Since you cannot backtrack, make sure you deliberately collect each one as you progress. The 15 required death types are: Fall while balancing on a beam — While travelling underneath the rig, you'll eventually need to balance across a beam. When a shake causes Caz to lose his balance, don't recover. Let him fall to his death. Burn to death — Stand in a fire or damaging flame vent until Caz dies. Several opportunities appear throughout the game, including fires that must normally be extinguished to progress. Fall into the hole in Engineering — When you first enter Engineering, look for the massive hole in the middle of the room. Jump into it. OSHA would like a word with whoever designed this place. Die from hot steam — During your escape from Engineering, you'll encounter the three steam pipes that must be shut off to progress. Instead of avoiding the steam, stand in it until Caz dies. Drown — During any suitable underwater section, remain submerged for roughly 60 seconds without reaching an air pocket or resurfacing. Die from electrocution — Allow one of the game's electrical hazards to kill Caz. There are multiple opportunities throughout the game. Die from touching the mutation — You'll encounter dangerous mutation growths and tentacles throughout the rig. Repeatedly touch one and allow it to damage Caz until he dies. Fall into the ocean while ledge climbing — At the Lifeboat Access area, you'll need to shimmy sideways along a ledge. When a shake causes Caz to lose his grip, don't recover and let him fall into the sea. Get killed by Trots — During either the Laundry Room encounter or the later insulin search in Accommodations, deliberately let Trots catch and kill you. Get killed by Muir — During the deck sequence, allow Muir to catch and kill Caz. This is your only encounter where you can earn the Muir death, so don't skip it. Get killed by Rennick — Let Rennick catch and kill you during either the Administration or East Wing encounter. Die from poison gas — On the way toward the generators, you'll enter the game's only poison gas section. When Caz comments about breathing gas, don't escape or shut it off. Remain in the area until the gas kills him. Get killed by Addair — Let Addair catch and kill you during either the generator sequence or the later flare sequence. Fall while crawling across the pipe — On the way toward the first tension winch, you'll need to cross a pipe. When a shake causes Caz to lose his balance, do nothing and allow him to fall. Get killed by O'Connor's tentacles — During the encounter with the mutated O'Connor, he'll attempt to grab and kill Caz with his tentacles. Instead of escaping, let the attack kill you. Once you've experienced all 15 different deaths, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Keep your own checklist and mark each death immediately after getting it. Several are intentionally similar—such as the beam, ledge, and pipe falls—but they count as separate death types. If you're going for the Platinum, this is one trophy where dying successfully is progress. That's a sentence you don't get to write very often.

Warning

This trophy is missable. Pay particular attention to the poison gas death, as the provided information identifies only one opportunity to get it. Muir and O'Connor also have specific encounters where their required deaths can be earned. Don't leave these for cleanup—you cannot freely backtrack later.

Trophy: Full Fathom Five

Died from falling into the sea five times in different places

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You need to die by falling into the sea from five different locations around the Beira D. This is missable because you cannot freely backtrack through the game. Make sure you deliberately take each death when you reach the appropriate section rather than planning to return later. The five locations are: After Caz wakes up after being rescued from the sea, walk toward the edge near the diving bell and fall into the water. You can alternatively go underneath the rig and fall through the nearest gap. At the Lifeboat Access area, you'll need to climb sideways across a section of the rig. Partway across, a shake causes Caz to lose his grip. Don't recover—let yourself fall into the sea. While escaping Muir, you'll eventually reach a green container and climb sideways to the other side. Once you've crossed, turn around and deliberately fall into the sea. Before or after the helicopter crash, walk to the edge of the helipad and jump into the sea. After reaching the crashed helicopter, walk over the nearby edge and fall into the sea one final time. The trophy will unlock once you've died from falling into the sea at all five locations.

Tip

Keep track of each death as you go. Since the five deaths must come from different locations, repeatedly throwing Caz off the same part of the rig won't help. It will, however, make you feel increasingly guilty.

Warning

This trophy is missable. There is no free backtracking, so make sure you get each required death when you reach its corresponding section.

Trophy: Good with the 'Leccy

Used all electrical interaction types on the Beira D

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You need to use all 13 different types of electrical interactions found throughout the Beira D. Most are required for story progression, but the first two—the light switch and TV—are optional and can easily be missed. Get those during the opening section and the remaining interactions will come naturally as you progress. The 13 required electrical interactions are: Light Switch — Immediately after starting the game, interact with the light switch inside Caz's room before opening the door and leaving. TV — While heading toward the Canteen, take the route toward the Crew Lounge and interact with the television. Fuse Box — Story-related. Scooby will ask you to repair the fuse box used to power the elevator. Elevator — Story-related. Immediately after repairing the elevator, press the button to send it upward. Brake Lever — Story-related. After Caz is pulled from the sea, Brodie will ask you to use the brake lever while helping Raffs out of the diving bell. Winch Control — Story-related. After using the brake lever, head back upstairs and operate the second control near Brodie. Ladder Lever — Story-related. While travelling underneath the rig, you'll eventually need to operate a lever that releases a ladder. Heater — Story-related. After escaping Engineering, interact with the heater to warm Caz and continue the story. Power Lever — Story-related. When you reach the Deck, use the power lever to shut off the electricity blocking your route. Protective Relay — Story-related. Once you reach the generator area, interact with the Protective Relay as part of restoring power. Power Switches — Story-related. After reaching the control room through the roof hatch, operate the power switches required to start the generator sequence. Generator — Story-related. After operating the switches, collect the key behind you and use it on the generator to manually restart it. Marine Control Button — Story-related. At Marine Control, use the phone to speak with Finlay. After obtaining the key and unlocking the lever, complete the sequence by pressing and holding the Marine Control button. If you've used the first 12 electrical interaction types, the trophy will unlock after completing the final Marine Control interaction.

Tip

Get the light switch and TV during the opening and you can stop worrying about most of this trophy. The other 11 interactions are required during the story, turning Caz from electrician to generator technician to Marine Control operator without so much as a training video.

Warning

This trophy is missable because the Light Switch and TV interactions are optional and located near the beginning of the game. Make sure you use both before progressing beyond the opening area.

Trophy: McLeery

Spend too much time in the shower room

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You can unlock this within the first few minutes of the game. After the opening cutscene, follow the main route until you speak with Finlay. Once the conversation ends, you'll need to pass through the bathroom on your way toward the Canteen. Instead of continuing straight ahead, turn left and enter the shower room. You'll find one of Caz's coworkers taking a shower. Walk up behind him and remain there for roughly 30 seconds. Yes, that's really the trophy requirement. After you've stood there questioning both your decisions and those of the trophy designer for long enough, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

You only need to wait for around 30 seconds, so don't leave the shower room until you see the trophy pop. After that, you're free to continue the game and never discuss what happened here again.

Warning

This trophy is missable. You cannot return to this opening section later, so get it during your initial trip through the bathroom.

Trophy: Me and My Spoon

Find Roy's Spoon after the sinking

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You can find Roy's spoon while searching Accommodations for his insulin. During the sequence where you're avoiding Trots and travelling through the crew cabins, you'll eventually enter a flooded cabin containing Roy's insulin. Pick up the insulin from the table, then turn around. Look at the chair near the vent to find Roy's spoon. Interact with it to unlock the trophy. Yes, the rig is sinking, Trots is hunting you, Roy desperately needs his insulin, and we're stopping to admire a spoon. Platinum priorities.

Warning

This trophy is missable. Make sure you find the spoon while you're in the flooded cabin containing Roy's insulin, as you cannot return later for normal cleanup.

Trophy: Not so Good with the 'Leccy

Die in all electrical hazards on the Beira D

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Name: Not so Good with the 'Leccy Category: Missable How to Unlock: You need to die from all 7 electrical hazards found throughout the Beira D. Some are obvious electrical death traps, while others are easier to walk straight past. Since you cannot backtrack, deliberately sacrifice Caz to each hazard when you reach it. The 7 required electrical deaths are: First Fallen Lamp — After speaking with Roy about reaching the lifeboats, leave the kitchen. Before continuing toward the Laundry Room, turn left and walk directly into the fallen lamp until the electricity kills you. First Exposed Wires — When you reach the Deck, follow the main route until exposed electrical wires block your path. Walk into them and remain there until Caz dies. Second Exposed Wires — After taking the elevator up toward the helipad, look near the stairs leading toward Rennick's office. Walk into the exposed wires and let them kill you. First Electrified Debris — While progressing through Administration, move the obstacle blocking your route and continue through the offices. After jumping across an obstacle, you'll find a fallen electrical hazard directly ahead. Touch it until Caz dies. Second Electrified Debris — During the Rennick chase, you'll enter a records room and squeeze through a gap to escape him. After squeezing through, open the door and turn left to find another electrified pile of debris. Walk into it and die. Electrified Water — On the way toward the generators, you'll reach a dark corridor containing electrified water. Instead of avoiding it, enter the water and let the electricity finish the job. Electrified Cables — While returning to Accommodations to find Roy's insulin, you'll swim through the flooded Engineering area. Eventually you'll enter a vent. After reaching the other end, look for the final electrical hazard and allow it to kill you. Once you've died to all 7 electrical hazards, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Keep a checklist and mark each electrical death as you get it. Several hazards look similar, but each specific location counts separately.

Warning

This trophy is missable because you cannot freely backtrack. Get each electrical death when you reach it rather than planning to clean them up later. Between this and Good with the 'Leccy, Caz has now proven he is both extremely good and catastrophically bad with electricity.

Trophy: Sailing By

Listen to the whole Shipping Forecast

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You can earn this while completing the objective "Find a new route to the lifeboats." After speaking with Roy, follow the route toward the lifeboats until you enter the Laundry Room. Look around the corner near the lockers to find a radio broadcasting the Shipping Forecast. Stay beside the radio and listen to the entire broadcast, which lasts roughly 3 and a half minutes. Once you've heard the full forecast, the trophy will unlock. Some players have reported getting the trophy after listening for only around 30 seconds, but don't rely on that. Unless the trophy pops early, stay for the entire broadcast.

Tip

Don't wander away until you see the trophy unlock. Yes, you're trapped on a collapsing oil rig with something horrific hunting the crew, but first let's take three and a half minutes to find out how the weather is looking.

Warning

This trophy is missable because you cannot return to the Laundry Room later. Make sure the trophy actually unlocks before continuing toward the lifeboats.

Trophy: Snoop

Visit every enterable cabin in the game

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Name: Snoop Category: Missable How to Unlock: You need to enter all 10 accessible crew cabins throughout the game. The first 5 cabins are missable and must be visited near the beginning of the game. The remaining 5 are entered naturally later while searching for Roy's insulin. The 10 required cabins are: Cabin 107 — Immediately after starting the game, leave Caz's room and enter the cabin directly in front of you. Cabin 110 — From Cabin 107, head down the small set of stairs and enter the cabin on the right. You'll know you've found the correct one because it's flooded. Always a reassuring sign when you're living on an oil rig. Cabin 111 — Leave Cabin 110 and enter the next cabin on the right. Cabin 106 — After speaking with Finlay, cross through the shower area and turn right. Cabin 106 will be on your left. Cabin 104 — Leave Cabin 106 and continue along the corridor. Pass the shower on your left and enter the cabin on your right. 6–10. The final five cabins are encountered automatically while searching for Roy's insulin later in the story. Continue exploring the cabins along the required route until you eventually reach Roy's room. If you entered the first five optional cabins earlier, the trophy should unlock once you reach Roy's cabin.

Tip

Get the first five cabins out of the way during the introduction. Once they're done, you can continue the story knowing the remaining cabins are part of the required route.

Warning

This trophy is missable. You cannot backtrack to the opening sections later, so make sure you've entered Cabins 107, 110, 111, 106, and 104 before progressing. Apparently Caz's reward for invading everyone's privacy is a trophy.

Trophy: Social Butterfly

Talk to everyone in the Intro

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

You need to speak with all 9 required groups of coworkers during the introduction. Most are close to the main route, but a few require you to deliberately stop and interact with them. Make sure you've spoken with everyone before progressing too far. The 9 required conversations are: Finlay — Story-related. You'll meet her while heading toward the Canteen, where she'll talk about the condition of the rig. Trots, Gibbo, and O'Connor — When you first enter the Canteen, look to your right. Speak with the group to hear their conversation about the workers' union and the "It's Scotland's Oil" movement. Brodie and Raffs — Find them around the middle of the Canteen. Brodie is trying to calm Raffs down ahead of his first trip in the diving bell. Addair — Find him by himself toward the back of the Canteen. Have a chat with him. You'll quickly discover why nobody nominated him for Employee of the Month. Roy — Story-related. Speak with Roy as you progress. The conversation covers Caz's wife, why he took the job on the rig, and football. Banky — After reaching the deck, look for Banky working on the stairs. Make sure you interact with him, as this conversation is particularly easy to miss. Muir and Innes — Head down the stairs and through the gate. You'll find the pair between a green and blue container. Speak with them before continuing. Roper — Continue toward the rig's drill after speaking with Muir and Innes. You'll encounter Roper along the route and hear about some of the problems they're having. Scooby — Story-related. Continue along the path until Scooby asks you to repair the elevator. If you've completed all of the required conversations, the trophy will unlock after finishing your interaction with Scooby.

Tip

Banky is the one to pay particular attention to since you need to deliberately interact with him while he's working on the stairs. Otherwise, take a few minutes during the intro to talk to everyone you see. It may be the last remotely normal conversation Caz has for quite a while.

Warning

This trophy is missable because you cannot return to the introduction later. If you miss a required coworker, you'll need to start another game to get the conversation you skipped.

Social Butterfly PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Walking Simulator

Completed the game without sprinting for more than 10 total minutes

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Complete the entire game while spending no more than 10 total minutes sprinting. This sounds much worse than it actually is. Only a handful of sections genuinely require sprinting, so the safest approach is to walk everywhere unless the game absolutely forces you to pick up the pace. Setting the difficulty to Story is recommended, as it makes the enemy encounters easier to handle without relying on sprinting. A useful visual indicator is Caz's hands. When you're running, you'll occasionally see his hands appear on screen. Sprinting during climbing and traversal animations also counts toward the 10-minute total. Be careful with deaths as well. Sprinting time accumulated before dying still counts, so repeatedly failing a section after sprinting through it can quietly eat into your allowance. These sections DO NOT require sprinting: The first gap jump in the Under Rig. Use your normal walking momentum to make the jump. The entire Muir encounter. Use throwables to distract him and give yourself enough time to move safely. The Rennick encounter. You can use a small amount of sprinting during the opening portion if needed, but the rest can be completed without it. The jump toward the crashed helicopter. You can hold onto the final window rather than relying on a sprint. The entire Addair encounter. Use throwables to distract him rather than trying to outrun him. The swimming sections during the Leg A sequence. Use the ground boosters to increase your movement speed instead. The first part of the Addair encounter while attempting to light the flare. Distract him with throwables and continue without sprinting. The flooded Engineering section. There are enough air pockets available to complete it without rushing. The Trots chase through the vents in Accommodations. The first half of the flooded East Wing while travelling toward Drill Ops. These sections DO require some sprinting: The first jump toward the ladder in the Under Rig. The later jump in Lifeboat Access. The Trots chase through the Laundry Room. If you're quick, you should only need around 5–8 seconds of sprinting. The jump required to escape after climbing the crashed helicopter. The jump after pushing debris toward the hole in the catwalk. The jump toward the red pendulum during the first Leg A section. The rising-water sequence on the way toward Leg B. It may be possible to complete this without sprinting if you're fast enough. The Addair chase during the flare sequence. This is one of the largest unavoidable uses of your sprint allowance and can require roughly 45–60 seconds. The hole jumps after lighting the flare. Some jumps during the crashed crane sequence. The second half of the flooded East Wing, during or after the Rennick chase. Keep your unnecessary sprinting to an absolute minimum throughout the playthrough. If you remain below 10 total minutes, the trophy will unlock during the final cutscene before the credits.

Tip

Treat sprinting like a limited resource rather than something you use for normal movement. Walk during exploration, use throwables during monster encounters, and save your sprint time for jumps and chase sequences where it's actually necessary. Story difficulty will also make this considerably more forgiving. Ten minutes is a generous allowance when most of the game can be completed at walking speed.

Warning

The 10-minute limit is cumulative, and sprinting before a death still counts. Don't repeatedly sprint through an encounter expecting a checkpoint reload to give that time back.

Collectible

Trophy: Body Count

Find every reachable dead crew member

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

You need to find all 20 reachable dead crew members scattered throughout the Beira D. Some bodies are counted automatically as you progress, while others require you to approach or interact with them. Since you cannot freely backtrack, it's best to check every body as you reach it. Apparently Caz wasn't already having a bad enough shift, so now we're sending him on a tour of every dead coworker too. The 20 required bodies are: Engineering — Unmissable. After falling through the floor hatch and squeezing through the gap, you'll find the first body at the ladder. Lifeboat Access — Possibly missable. After reaching Lifeboat Access, climb across the ledge to the other side. Wait near the door and interact with the body. If Caz comments on it, it has counted. Deck — Possibly missable. After reaching the Deck and climbing down the broken stairs, look for a body near a fuel tank. Interact with it. Deck — Missable. After encountering Muir and crawling underneath the debris, look for a hiding area near some metal tubes. Go through it to find the body and interact with it. Deck — Possibly missable. Shortly after Body #4, you'll enter a room and crawl through a vent while heading toward the elevator. The body will be directly ahead when you emerge. Interact with it before continuing. Tension Winch A — Missable. While descending toward Tension Winch A, stop at Level 5. Follow the catwalk and climb the ladder at the end to find the body. Interact with it before heading back. Tension Winch A — Unmissable. After releasing Tension Winch A, you'll need to swim underneath a bridge while heading toward Leg B. You'll encounter the next body underwater. Leg B — Unmissable. As you progress through Leg B, you'll need to open a door using a valve. Two bodies are revealed when the door opens, but together they count as one entry toward the trophy. Leg B — Missable. When you reach the area containing the debris screen controls, look for two doors. The lower door leads toward the lever required to open the screen, while the upper door is leaking water. Interact with the upper door to reveal the required body. Accommodations — Unmissable. While progressing through the corridors, you'll encounter a mutated crew member near a vent you need to use to continue. Accommodations — Unmissable. Crawl through the vent after the previous body and enter the bathroom. The mutation in the middle of the room counts as the next body. Accommodations — Possibly missable. After following the vents and encountering Trots again, you'll drop into a corridor. Enter the room with the hole in its door and interact with the body inside. Accommodations — Possibly missable. From the previous body, crawl through the vent into the next room. Find the body near the desk and interact with it. Accommodations — Unmissable. After reaching the second bathroom and opening the vent to continue, enter the following room to encounter the next body. Accommodations — Possibly missable. After escaping Trots through the vents, Caz will fall into another room. Before leaving, interact with the body lying on the bed. Accommodations — Unmissable. Continue until you witness Trots being buried by falling debris. His body will automatically count toward the trophy. Rooftop — Unmissable. Continue until you reach Roy on the roof. The following story sequence will automatically count his body. East Wing — Unmissable. Rennick's body will automatically count following his final encounter in the flooded East Wing. Drill Ops — Unmissable. After chasing Finlay, continue through the story until the next body is counted following the cutscene. Drill Ops — Missable. Immediately after Body #19, look to the right near a blue container. Find and interact with the final body. Once all 20 crew members have been counted, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Pay the most attention to Bodies #4, #6, #9, and #20, as the provided information specifically identifies these as missable. For bodies requiring interaction, don't just look at them and assume you're done—approach and interact whenever possible. If you miss one, your trophy progress is not erased when starting a new game. You can use another playthrough to find whichever body you're missing rather than having to deliberately collect all 20 again.

Warning

This trophy is missable during a single playthrough because you cannot freely backtrack through the Beira D. Keep track of the bodies as you progress. And maybe don't think too hard about the fact that somebody at the trophy department looked at this game and decided Caz needed to inspect every corpse personally.

Trophy: Clear Down

Listen to every optional phonecall

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

You need to answer all 8 optional phone calls during a single playthrough. There are 13 phone calls throughout the game, but only these 8 optional calls count toward the trophy. Because you cannot backtrack, make sure you answer each phone when you reach it. Apparently surviving the Beira D also means becoming its unpaid receptionist. The 8 optional phone calls are: After leaving Engineering and entering Accommodations, listen for a ringing phone on your way toward the Crew Lounge. Answer it before continuing. After extinguishing your first fire while returning to Accommodations, look for the ringing phone near the ladder you need to climb to continue the story. After Brodie calls you about restarting the generators, leave Rennick's office and then return. The phone should now be ringing. Answer it before moving on. When you enter Administration, you'll see a fire on your left and an office on your right. Enter the office and answer the ringing phone inside. After climbing over the crashed helicopter, move the debris blocking your route and enter the blue office. The ringing phone is on the right. After escaping the Pontoons, warm yourself at the heater and answer Brodie's call. Leave through the exit to the left of the phone, then return to the room. The phone will be ringing again for another optional call. While searching for Roy's insulin, warm yourself and break the lock on the door to continue. Walk forward, then turn around and head back to trigger another ringing phone. The final optional call is during your return to Finlay after completing Marine Control. After swimming through the long flooded corridor, climb back up and enter the office containing the final phone. Answer all 8 optional calls and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Keep track of each call as you answer it. Several require you to briefly double back or revisit a room after progressing an objective, making them very easy to walk straight past.

Warning

This trophy is missable. You cannot freely backtrack to earlier sections of the game, so missing an optional phone call can require another playthrough.

Pick up and throw 50 different throwables

Type: Silver

Category: Grind

Unlock Details

Pick up and throw 50 different throwable objects throughout the game. Throwables are primarily used to distract monsters, so make a habit of grabbing and tossing them whenever you find one. Objects that can be thrown include: Helmets Hammers Thermoses Mugs Wrenches Throwables aren't available everywhere, so take advantage of areas containing lots of objects during monster encounters. Good places to work toward the 50 throws include: The Laundry Room during the Trots encounter. The Deck during the Muir encounter. The Generator Room during the Addair encounter. Keep picking up and throwing different objects throughout your playthrough until you've reached 50 and the trophy unlocks.

Tip

If you're playing on PS5, pin the trophy so you can keep track of your progress. Start working on this from your first monster encounter rather than leaving all 50 throws until later. You can also put the objects to good use by throwing them away from your intended route to distract monsters. That way you're making trophy progress while also helping Caz survive—which is surprisingly efficient considering you're basically spending the game throwing mugs around an oil rig.

Completed the game in Scottish Gaelic

Type: Silver

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Complete the entire game from beginning to end with the language set to Scottish Gaelic. Before starting your playthrough, go to: Options > Accessibility > Language > Gàidhlig (An Rìoghachd Aonaichte) Apply the language change, then start your game and leave the setting unchanged for the entire playthrough. You cannot begin in another language and switch to Scottish Gaelic partway through. Changing the language affects the subtitles, menus, options, and in-game objectives. The spoken dialogue remains something you'll need to navigate during the playthrough. Complete the game without changing away from Scottish Gaelic and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is best saved for a second playthrough after you already know the game's routes and objectives. By then, you should know where you're going even if the objective text isn't helping much.

Warning

Set Scottish Gaelic before beginning the playthrough and don't change the language midway through the game, as the entire game needs to be completed with the setting active.

Trophy: Cerebral Anoxia

Drowned inside the rig

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

You need to drown Caz inside the rig. The earliest opportunity provided is when you reach Leg A to repair the tension winch. Before or after activating the winch, enter the water and deliberately swim downward instead of progressing. Remain underwater for roughly one minute without resurfacing. Eventually Caz will run out of air and drown, unlocking the trophy.

Tip

You can do this either before or after dealing with the tension winch, so get it out of the way whenever it's convenient. Caz has spent the entire game desperately trying to stay alive, and trophy hunters have decided that's apparently optional.

Hit a monster with a throwable

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Throw an object directly at a monster and hit it. Throwables are normally meant to distract monsters so you can sneak around them. For this trophy, forget subtlety and use one as a weapon instead. The earliest opportunity is during your encounter with Trots in the Laundry Room. Pick up any throwable object, aim directly at Trots, and let it fly. As long as the object actually hits the monster, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

There are plenty of throwable objects around the larger monster encounters, so you have more opportunities later if you miss Trots. It won't hurt the monster, but emotionally? Devastating.

Sprint in all movement modes and traversals

Type: Gold

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

You need to use the sprint input during all 11 movement and traversal types that can be performed faster. Whenever you encounter one of these traversal types, hold the sprint input while performing it. You only need to successfully do each type once during the playthrough. The 11 required movement types are: Walking — Sprint normally while moving on foot. Balancing on a beam — Hold sprint while crossing a balance beam. Climbing a ladder — Hold sprint while climbing a standard ladder. Balancing sideways — Hold sprint while moving sideways across a narrow traversal section. Monkey bars — Hold sprint while crossing monkey bars. Wall ladder — Hold sprint while climbing one of the vertical traversal sections similar to monkey bars. Walking through water — Hold sprint while moving through water on foot. Squeezing through a gap — Hold sprint while Caz squeezes through a narrow opening. Moving through vents — Hold sprint while crawling through a ventilation shaft. Going over a yellow obstacle — Hold sprint while climbing or vaulting over one of the yellow obstacles. Swimming underwater — Hold sprint while underwater to swim faster. Complete all 11 traversal types while sprinting at least once and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

If you're playing on PS5, use the trophy's built-in progress tracker to keep an eye on your completion percentage. Check it after performing each new traversal type so you'll have a much better idea of what's missing if the trophy doesn't unlock.

Warning

Pay particular attention to the yellow obstacle traversal. There are only a few opportunities to perform it, making it one of the easiest movement types to overlook. Otherwise, whenever Caz discovers a new way to move around the rig, hold sprint and make him do it with unnecessary urgency.

Throw a throwable into the sea

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

After climbing down a ladder, you'll encounter a fire blocking your route. Look for a thermos sitting on the nearby table and pick it up. Walk somewhere you have a clear throw toward the ocean and toss the thermos overboard. The trophy will unlock once the object lands in the sea.

Tip

Plenty of throwable objects appear throughout the game, so you have other opportunities if you miss the thermos. Just remember: littering is bad. Littering for a PlayStation trophy is apparently different.

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Unlock this by spotting a monster while using the lean mechanic. During any section where you're sneaking past a monster, take cover somewhere you can safely see it. Use the lean controls to peek out from behind cover and keep the monster in view. Once you successfully spot the creature while leaning, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Do this during one of the slower stealth encounters rather than during a chase. There is a fine line between "carefully observing the monster" and "introducing yourself to it."

Trophy: All Beans and Forgiveness

Made it down to the Canteen and talked with Roy

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically during the opening minutes of the game. After Caz reads the letter from his wife, Trots will let him know that Roy has breakfast waiting in the Canteen. Take control of Caz, head through the corridor, and stop for the conversation with Finlay. From there, simply follow the objective marker to the Canteen and speak with Roy. The trophy will unlock once the conversation with Roy is complete. Enjoy the breakfast while you can. Things on this rig are about to get considerably less relaxing.

Trophy: Beacon in the Dark

Relit the Flare

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after successfully reigniting the flare. Once you return to Accommodations, warm Caz at the nearby heater and answer the ringing phone to speak with Roy. After the conversation, head outside and follow the route until you meet Brodie. You'll learn that the flare responsible for burning off the rig's gas is going out. If it completely extinguishes, the accumulating gas could turn the entire rig into a bomb. Because apparently "sinking and covered in monsters" wasn't enough. Follow the objective toward the elevator, where you'll encounter Addair again. Use the alternate routes around the area to avoid him and reach the gas valve. Shut it off to extinguish the flames blocking your path. Continue sneaking past Addair until you reach the gas divert valve and activate it. The automatic ignition will fail, meaning Caz gets the wonderful privilege of lighting the flare manually. Break the lock on the gate leading toward the flare. Doing so triggers an alarm and alerts Addair, beginning another chase. Run through the available route, avoiding the obstacles in your path, until you reach the hole in the final gate. Get through it, climb the stairs, and manually light the flare. The trophy unlocks once the flare is burning again.

Tip

Once breaking the gate lock triggers the alarm, forget about stealth and run. The route forward is your priority—Addair has already received more than enough of Caz's attention for one shift.

Trophy: Beaufort Eleven

Made it to the roof of Accommodation

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically once you reach the roof of Accommodations. After warming up at the heater, head toward the Crew Lounge and enter the previously locked door leading into the bathroom. Climb through the hole in the stalls and enter the open vent to reach the damaged corridors. Use the vent near one of the crew mutations to enter the showers, then climb through another vent. You'll soon discover that Trots is still roaming Accommodations. Enter the room with the hole in its door and use the vent inside. Follow it into another room and carefully open the door. Trots will be directly outside, but he won't notice you. Head into the bathroom near the hole Trots entered and use another vent. Continue into the next bathroom, where you'll find yet another air vent. Apparently the Beira D was designed under the assumption that employees would someday need to travel exclusively through ventilation systems. Climb inside and you'll trigger a chase with Trots. Follow the available route until Caz falls into another bedroom. Leave the bedroom and continue along the corridor until you reach a flooded room. Enter the vent near the door, which leads to Roy's room, where you'll find his insulin. Continue through the next vent toward the roof access. After the following story sequence, climb the stairs and leave Accommodations. The trophy unlocks when you reach the roof.

Tip

Once the Trots chase begins, don't stop to hide or explore. Follow the route ahead and keep moving until you're safely through the sequence.

Trophy: Breathe In, Breathe Out, Repeat

Escaped from Engineering

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after escaping Engineering and reaching Accommodations. After waking up, Brodie will ask you to help free Raffs from the diving bell. Head downstairs and use the lever, then climb back up and operate the lever near the bell to stabilize it. Brodie will then send you toward Engineering. The journey underneath the rig introduces several of the game's traversal mechanics, including jumping gaps, using monkey bars, balancing across beams, squeezing through tight spaces, climbing through vents, and dealing with environmental hazards. In other words, welcome to your new job description: absolutely anything except what Caz was actually hired to do. Once inside Engineering, continue along the main route until you meet Finlay. She'll direct you through the water tanks so you can eventually meet Roy back at Accommodations. When you reach the steam valves: Close the first valve. Climb down the ladder. Close the second valve. Climb the ladder that is now clear of steam. Close the third and final valve. Continue following the objective until you reach the tanks. After the hatch closes behind you, leave the first tank through the gap. You'll eventually find Douglas blocking a ladder; move his body, climb up, and continue toward the stairs. Run all the way to the top and follow the route until you reach the exit leading to Accommodations. Interact with the exit and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

The route through Engineering is linear, so don't overthink it. If the rig is shaking, something is on fire, and Caz sounds deeply unhappy about his current situation, you're probably heading the right way.

Trophy: Compression Ignition

Restarted the Generator

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically as part of restoring the rig's generator. After escaping Rennick, climb across the crashed helicopter to reach the next path. When debris blocks your route, push it toward the hole, jump across, and continue until you reach the generator access area. It's extremely dark inside, so keep your flashlight handy. Climb the ladder and flip the lever to shut off the electricity blocking your path. Shortly afterward, gas will begin pouring into the room. Close the nearby valve, then push the debris out of the corridor to continue. You'll eventually meet Finlay, who explains how to restart the generators. Head into the office and reset the protective relay, then enter Mud Handling and follow the route toward the main generator. Addair is now patrolling this area in his mutated form. Avoid him and use throwable objects to distract him while working your way toward the ladder leading to the roof hatch. At the generator controls, activate the switches in this exact order: Switch 5 Switch 3 Switch 2 Switch 4 Switch 1 The generator will briefly start before shutting down again, because apparently "worked on the first try" isn't something this rig believes in. Grab the key located behind you and use it to manually restart the generator. Addair will have temporarily left the area, so you can do this safely. Finish the following conversation with Finlay and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Remember the switch sequence as 5-3-2-4-1. During the Addair section, use throwables to pull him away from your intended route rather than trying to rush directly past him.

Trophy: Everything Breaks

Watched the Helicopter Crash

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after witnessing the helicopter crash. After speaking with Roy, head through the Deck access door and make your way outside. The rig is now covered in heavy fog because apparently everything happening already wasn't unpleasant enough. Continue toward the helipad until you encounter an electrified section of floor. Use the power lever on the right to shut off the electricity and safely cross. You'll eventually encounter Muir and meet Innes, who asks you to sneak past the creature and rendezvous with him near the elevator. Stay behind cover whenever possible and use the throwable objects scattered around the area to create distractions. Once you reach the green container, a short chase begins and forces you onto an alternate route toward the elevator. Near the cargo hoist, you'll meet Innes again. You'll need to raise the hoist to open the route forward, but its controls are located behind a fence. Look near the red fence for a hole you can crawl through, then reach the controls and activate the hoist. Once the route is open, make a run for the elevator. You can also distract Muir first if you want a little more breathing room. Reaching the elevator triggers a cutscene. Afterward, ride to the top and continue toward the helipad. More story events and another flashback will follow before Caz eventually wakes up back at the helipad. The trophy unlocks once you regain control.

Tip

Throwables are your friend during the Muir section. Distracting the creature before making a run for the next piece of cover is much safer than attempting the ancient survival-horror technique known as "sprint and hope."

Got back to Roy in the Canteen

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after returning to Roy in the Canteen following the failed lifeboat escape. Answer the ringing phone after launching the lifeboat to speak with Rennick. When the conversation ends, follow the ladders and extinguish the fire blocking your route before heading back toward Accommodations. Move the obstruction away from the door and continue through the corridors until you return to the laundry room. Unfortunately, Trots isn't quite the same friendly coworker you met earlier. Sneak around the mutated Trots using the environment for cover and work your way toward the exit. Getting close enough will trigger an unavoidable chase, so when that happens, forget stealth and run. Head for the same gap you originally squeezed through to enter the laundry room. Once you're through, you'll be safe. Continue back into the kitchen and speak with Roy. He'll ask Caz to reach the helicopter and bring back whatever help he can find. The trophy unlocks once your conversation with Roy ends.

Tip

Don't panic when the chase begins. It's scripted, so you're supposed to be spotted. Just sprint for the gap and resist the natural survival-horror urge to hide in a corner and reconsider your life choices.

Put out a fire with an extinguisher

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks while extinguishing the fire blocking your route after the failed lifeboat escape. After launching the lifeboat, climb the ladder as you make your way back toward Accommodations. You'll encounter a fire blocking the path. Turn right to find a fire extinguisher nearby. Pick it up, aim the spray at the flames, and continue extinguishing them until the path is clear. The trophy will unlock once you've successfully put out the fire.

Trophy: Home by Christmas

Launched the Lifeboat

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after attempting to escape the rig using the lifeboat. After leaving Engineering, use the nearby heater for a few seconds, then continue through the corridors toward the Crew Lounge. You'll eventually find Trots trapped inside a room with a mysterious glow coming from behind the door. I'm sure that's completely normal and nothing worth worrying about. Take the door to the right and follow the corridor toward the Canteen. You'll find Roy in the kitchen gathering supplies. Speak with him, then begin making your way toward the lifeboats. Leave the fridge through the crawlspace and squeeze through the gap leading toward the deck. Continue through the laundry room until you reach the lifeboat access. Climb down and you'll discover the first lifeboat is damaged, so move over to the second one. Release both brakes and then operate the lever to launch it. Unfortunately, the lifeboat immediately falls into the ocean. So much for that plan. The trophy unlocks as soon as the lifeboat is released.

Trophy: I Am The King

Escaped from Rennick

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after escaping from Rennick in the Administration area. After the helicopter crash, head back toward Rennick's office and answer the phone. Brodie will discuss another way off the rig, but a blackout cuts the conversation short. Your new objective is to restore the generators so you can call for help. Leave the office and enter Administration. Use the fire extinguisher to clear the path into the offices, then continue through the corridors until you're reunited with Rennick. Unfortunately, Rennick has undergone a slight workplace personality change. He's now completely mutated and, somehow, still just as unpleasant. What follows is a series of chase sequences. Keep moving along the available route, pushing objects aside, squeezing through gaps, and breaking locks whenever they block your escape. After breaking the lock leading toward the exit, you'll begin the final chase. Reach the end of the corridor to trigger a cutscene. When it finishes, turn around and continue toward the exit. Interact with the door to leave the area and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Don't waste time trying to sneak around Rennick during the chase sequences. Keep moving and concentrate on the obstacles in front of you. Apparently firing Caz wasn't enough for him.

Trophy: Into the Belly of the Beast

Completed Engineering

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after fully restoring power in Engineering. After manually starting the generator with the key, begin making your way back through the area. Addair has returned, because of course he has. Continue along the route until you reach the room containing a fuse box in the left corner. Repair the fuse box, then keep moving while avoiding Addair. Return to the office and interact with the protective relay switch you reset earlier. Flipping it will restore power to the rig and unlock the trophy.

Tip

You don't need to deal with Addair directly. Stay focused on reaching the fuse box and then getting back to the protective relay. He may look horrifying, but he's really just another workplace obstacle at this point.

Trophy: Leviathan

Rebalanced the Beira D

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after rebalancing the Beira D. Once you're on the roof of Accommodations, continue forward until you reach Roy. After the following story sequence, Finlay will contact Caz and tell him to reach Marine Control so the rig can be rebalanced. Continue through the damaged structures and use the crane to cross to the other side of the rig. Follow the route until you reach the control room, where you'll find Roper being assimilated by the mutation but still conscious. Speak with Finlay, then try to operate the locked lever. Roper will give you the key needed to open its case before becoming considerably less helpful. Use the key to unlock the case and flip the switch. Speak with Finlay again, then hold the required control to rebalance the Beira D. Once the rig has been successfully balanced, finish the conversation with Finlay and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

There's no special trick to the controls here. Follow Finlay's instructions and complete each interaction in order. At this point, Caz has basically become the Beira D's electrician, engineer, maintenance crew, rescue team, and unpaid monster-control department.

Completed the game

Type: Gold

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically for completing the game. After entering the Derrick, continue toward the drill. When you reach the final interaction, throw Caz's lighter into the oil. That's it. After everything Caz has endured aboard the Beira D, it's finally time to clock out in the most dramatic way imaginable. The remaining scenes play out automatically. Continue through the final sequence until the credits begin to roll. The trophy will unlock for completing the story.

Tip

There are no additional objectives or special requirements during the ending. Once you reach the drill, you've made it. Finish the final interaction, sit back, and enjoy the conclusion.

Trophy: Surfacing

Escaped from the Pontoons

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

Name: Surfacing Category: Story How to Unlock: This unlocks automatically after escaping the Pontoons. After restoring the generators, answer Brodie's call to discover the rig has developed another minor issue: it's sinking. You'll need to head down into the Pontoons and use the tension winches to level it. Take the route near the phone and continue until you reach the counterweights. Use them to descend, taking care during the climb so Caz doesn't solve the sinking problem by reaching the bottom of the ocean first. At the bottom, find the first tension winch, release its brakes, and activate the switch. Continue through the following rooms, swimming through the flooded sections and opening doors to progress. When you reach the debris screen controls, activate them and jump into the water tunnel. You'll eventually enter a section where the tunnels begin filling rapidly with water. Swim quickly through the available route and make your way upward. Continue swimming through the underwater gaps until you reach an area overtaken by the mutation. Here you'll encounter O'Connor, who is being assimilated into it. When he grabs Caz, quickly break free and run up the stairs. You'll eventually reach the second tension winch. Release the brakes and reactivate it, then head to the nearby platform and call the elevator. Ride the elevator all the way back to the top and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Take your time during normal exploration, but when the water starts rapidly filling the tunnels, that's your cue to move. Turns out "the oil rig is sinking" wasn't Brodie being dramatic.

Trophy: The Drowning of Davey Rennick

Defeated Rennick

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after your final encounter with Rennick. After rebalancing the rig, follow the route toward Drill Ops to meet Finlay. The area will begin flooding along the way, forcing you to swim through the submerged sections. Move between the available air pockets to keep Caz's breath topped up and continue until you reach the stairway leading toward the East Wing. Rennick will make one final appearance and trigger another chase. Run along the available route until you can squeeze through a narrow gap. Rennick won't be following you anymore. Turns out the solution to the Beira D's worst boss was water and a little patience. Continue toward the stairs and the trophy will unlock once you reach them.

Tip

During the flooded section, use every convenient air pocket rather than trying to rush the entire route. Once Rennick appears, however, it's back to the usual strategy: run first, complain about management later.

This unlocks automatically when you enter the Derrick near the end of the game. After escaping Rennick, climb the stairs and enter Drill Ops, where you'll reunite with Finlay. Continue through the following story sequence. When it's over, Finlay decides that destroying the entire rig is the only way to stop the mutation and heads toward the Derrick. Follow her along the available route until you reach the Derrick. After another story sequence, Caz will be left to finish what the crew started. Continue forward toward the mutation and enter it. The trophy unlocks once you enter the Derrick.

Trophy: The Sickening of the Calm

Survived the Event

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after surviving the major event near the beginning of the game. After speaking with Roy in the Canteen, Rennick will summon Caz to his office. Leave through the door near the kitchen and follow the objective toward the deck. Along the way, Scooby will give you a screwdriver and ask you to repair the nearby cargo hoist, introducing one of the game's recurring mechanics. Ride the repaired hoist up, climb the stairs, and continue to Rennick's office. After the conversation, head toward the helipad and continue following the objective. A series of story events and cutscenes will follow, eventually resulting in Caz falling into the ocean. After the flashback and your coworkers pull Caz back aboard the rig, you'll wake up near a heater. The trophy unlocks when Caz wakes up.

Tip

There's nothing special you need to do here, so don't worry about hunting for some hidden requirement. Just keep following the story. Caz's terrible day is only getting started.

Trophy: Treading Water

Escaped from Flooded Engineering

Type: Bronze

Category: Story

Unlock Details

This unlocks automatically after escaping the flooded Engineering area and reaching Accommodations. After reigniting the flare, begin making your way back toward the rig. Things don't exactly go according to plan, and after another flashback you'll regain control of Caz beneath the rig. Follow the linear route until you reach Engineering, where you'll reunite with Finlay and Brodie. During the conversation, Roy will contact the group over the speakers. He's managed to reach the top of Accommodations, but without his insulin he's becoming seriously ill. Your route to him takes you straight through the now-flooded Engineering area. Swim through the submerged sections and use the available air pockets to refill Caz's breath whenever possible. Continue following the route as the flooding gets progressively worse until you finally escape Engineering and reach Accommodations. Find the nearby heater and interact with it. Once Caz has warmed himself up, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Don't try to push through the entire underwater section in one go. Use the air pockets whenever you reach them. Caz has survived monsters, explosions, collapsing walkways, and several questionable management decisions—we're not losing him because he forgot to breathe.
