The Last of Us Part I Trophy Roadmap

EARLY GAME

Start with the main story and play on whatever difficulty feels right. The Last of Us Part I does not require a high-difficulty run or New Game+ for the Platinum, so you can experience the story without worrying about locking yourself into a harder route.

If you want the cleanest one-playthrough path, follow a collectible guide as you go. Most of the trophy work comes from the huge number of collectibles and interactions spread across the game, including Artifacts, Optional Conversations, Ellie’s Jokes, Training Manuals, Workbenches, Workbench Tools, Shiv Doors, Comics, Firefly Pendants, and Safes. There are 238 collectible-style items in the main game, so this is where most of your attention should go.

MID GAME

As you continue through the story, keep collecting everything you reasonably can and make sure you do not skip the 5 Workbench Tools found across Bill’s Town, Pittsburgh, The Suburbs, The University, and the Bus Depot. These are especially important for Sharpest Tool in the Shed and are best collected during the same playthrough.

You should also naturally make progress toward trophies such as Fallen Firefly, Self Help, Savage Starlight Fan, Geared Up, Sticky Fingers, Combat Ready, Build Em Up, Break Em Down, and No Matter What. There is no need to rush or overthink combat trophies; explore carefully, upgrade as you go, and let the story carry most of the run.

LATE GAME

Finish the main story, then use Chapter Select to clean up any collectibles or miscellaneous trophies you missed. Chapter Select shows collectible totals by chapter and subchapter, which makes it much easier to identify where your missing items are instead of replaying the entire game.

This is also a good time to clean up In Memorium, Lights Out, Waterlogged, Left Hanging, Who’s A Good Boy?, Something to Fight For, Prepared for the Worst, Master of Unlocking, and Endure and Survive if any of them are still outstanding. Before using Chapter Select heavily, make a backup save as a precaution, since some players have reported progress behaving strangely when jumping backward through chapters.

TROPHY CLEANUP AND EXTRA TIPS

Once the main game is finished, move on to Left Behind. It is best played after the main story because it contains story context that lands much better once you already know what happens in the main game.

Left Behind is much shorter, with only a couple of sections involving serious combat, but it still contains important collectible progress. You will need its 14 Optional Conversations, 14 Artifacts, and the final set of Ellie’s Jokes, along with several miscellaneous activity trophies tied to Ellie and Riley.

If you followed a collectible guide during the main story, cleanup should be fairly light. The biggest thing to avoid is missing one of the 5 Workbench Tools, since those are the collectibles most likely to turn a comfortable one-playthrough Platinum into an unnecessary second run.

The Last of Us Part I has a much friendlier trophy list than the original versions: one playthrough, any difficulty, no multiplayer grind, and no Grounded New Game+ requirement. The real challenge is not surviving Clickers.

It is remembering whether you already opened that one Shiv Door three chapters ago.
