Trophy: Sharpest Tool in the Shed
Find all workbench tools
Type: Silver
Category: Missable
Unlock Details
Collect all 5 Workbench Tools in order during the same playthrough. Each Tool is found inside a red toolbox and increases the level of weapon upgrades available at Workbenches. The 5 locations are: Bill's Town Subchapter: Graveyard In the room where Bill gives Joel the Shotgun, look opposite the Workbench for the red toolbox. Pittsburgh Subchapter: Alone and Forsaken Look inside the first garage containing the bodies and the Smoke Bomb. The Suburbs Subchapter: Sewers After the contraption used for Waterlogged, go through the first door on the left to find the toolbox. The University Subchapter: Science Building The toolbox is behind a Shiv Door. Make sure you have a Shiv available so you can access it. Bus Depot Subchapter: Highway Exit After leaving the Bus Depot and passing the gas station, look inside the nearby tent for the final toolbox. The Tools have a yellow pickup icon, making them a little easier to spot than ordinary supplies. Once all 5 have been collected in order during the same playthrough, the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Keep a Shiv ready before reaching the Science Building at The University, since Tool 4 is locked behind a Shiv Door.
Warning
Unlike most collectibles, these 5 Tools need to be collected in order during the same playthrough. Missing one can prevent the trophy from unlocking through normal Chapter Select cleanup. Five little red toolboxes standing between you and an easy cleanup. Treat them like Joel treats crafting supplies: Leave nothing behind.

Trophy: Chronicles
Find all notes and artifacts
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Find all 97 Notes and Artifacts across The Last of Us Part I and Left Behind. The main game contains 83, while the remaining 14 are found in Left Behind. Part I: The Quarantine Zone: 7 The Outskirts: 9 Bill's Town: 11 Pittsburgh: 17 The Suburbs: 10 Tommy's Dam: 2 The University: 9 Lakeside Resort: 10 Bus Depot: 4 The Firefly Lab: 4 Left Behind: Back in a Flash: 4 Mallrats: 2 So Close: 4 Fun and Games: 2 The Enemy of My Enemy: 2 Artifacts include documents, letters, notes, posters, maps, physical objects, and voice recordings that provide additional details about the world and the people who lived through the outbreak. Completing the main story alone is not enough for this trophy. Even after collecting all 83 Part I Artifacts, you must collect the remaining 14 during Left Behind.
Tip
Collect as much as possible during your first playthrough, then use Chapter Select to hunt down anything you missed before or after finishing Left Behind. Ninety-seven pieces of post-apocalyptic reading material. Joel may not have time for a book club, but the Platinum certainly does.

Trophy: Endure and Survive
Collect all comics
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all required Savage Starlight comics throughout the main game. Comics begin appearing in Pittsburgh, so there are none to collect during the earlier chapters. The provided collectible breakdown is: Pittsburgh: 3 The Suburbs: 2 Tommy's Dam: 2 The University: 1 Lakeside Resort: 2 Bus Depot: 2 Jackson: 1 At the beginning of Pittsburgh, Joel already has a comic in his inventory that Ellie took from Bill. This initial comic does not count as one of the comics you need to find.
Tip
Use Chapter Select after finishing the story to check which chapters still contain missing collectibles and narrow down your search.
Warning
The provided source states that 12 comics must be collected, but its chapter-by-chapter breakdown adds up to 13. Double-check the final collectible locations before publishing the guide so we do not give players an incorrect total. In a world full of infected, raiders, and limited ammunition, Ellie still understands the most important survival rule: Never leave a comic behind.

Trophy: Getting to Know You
Engage in all optional conversations
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Engage in all 54 Optional Conversations across the main game and Left Behind. Optional Conversations appear when you are near a companion at the correct moment or after meeting certain conditions. When one becomes available, a Triangle prompt will appear. Press Triangle to start the conversation and make sure it registers before moving on. The required conversations are split between both parts of the game: Part I: 40 Optional Conversations Left Behind: 14 Optional Conversations Many of these are easy to miss because simply reaching the correct area is not always enough. You may need to stay close to a companion, wait for them to finish another action, examine something nearby, or allow their dialogue to play before the Triangle prompt appears. Ellie’s Joke Book sequences in Pittsburgh, The Suburbs, and Left Behind work similarly to Optional Conversations, but they are tracked separately for That's All I Got and are not part of the 54 required conversations.
Tip
When following a collectible route, wait for each conversation to completely trigger before moving forward. Rushing ahead can cause a companion to leave the area and make the prompt disappear. Apparently the secret to surviving the apocalypse is communication. Fifty-four conversations should do it.

Trophy: Look for the Light
Find all Firefly pendants
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all 30 Firefly Pendants in the main game. The chapter breakdown is: The Quarantine Zone: 3 The Outskirts: 4 Bill's Town: 3 Pittsburgh: 3 The Suburbs: 4 Tommy's Dam: 2 The University: 5 Lakeside Resort: 2 Bus Depot: 3 The Firefly Lab: 1 Firefly Pendants can be found throughout the environment. Some are sitting in normal collectible locations, while others are hanging from trees and need to be shot down before you can pick them up. There is also an additional pendant in Ellie’s inventory during Lakeside Resort, but this does not count toward the required 30.
Tip
Check Chapter Select if you are missing any after finishing the story. The chapter collectible totals make it much easier to narrow down where the missing pendant is hiding. Thirty Firefly Pendants. Apparently surviving the apocalypse was not enough. Joel also needed a side career in jewelry recovery.

Trophy: Master of Unlocking
Break into every locked door using shivs
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Open all 13 Shiv Doors in the main game. The chapter breakdown is: The Outskirts: 2 Bill's Town: 2 Pittsburgh: 4 Tommy's Dam: 1 The University: 1 Lakeside Resort: 1 Bus Depot: 1 The Firefly Lab: 1 Each locked door requires a Shiv to open. These rooms are usually worth the cost because they often contain useful supplies such as Supplements, Parts, crafting materials, ammo, and sometimes other collectibles you may need for additional trophies.
Tip
Try to keep at least one Shiv available whenever possible. Using your last one on an enemy can hurt a lot more when you find a locked door five minutes later. Thirteen locked doors. Joel’s real superpower is apparently refusing to respect private property.

Trophy: Prepared For the Worst
Find all workbenches
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Find and use all 11 Workbenches in the main game. The chapter breakdown is: The Outskirts: 1 Bill's Town: 1 Pittsburgh: 3 The Suburbs: 1 Tommy's Dam: 1 The University: 2 Bus Depot: 2 You only need to interact with each Workbench for it to count. Workbenches are also where you spend Parts to improve your weapons, so they are worth checking even if you are already keeping up with this trophy.
Tip
Whenever you find a Workbench, interact with it immediately before moving on. Some are positioned off the main path and are easy to forget if you tell yourself you will come back in a minute. Eleven Workbenches later, Joel has officially spent more time upgrading guns than most people spend maintaining their car.

Trophy: Something to Fight For
Find all training manuals
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Collect all 12 Training Manuals in the main game. The chapter breakdown is: Bill's Town: 1 Pittsburgh: 4 The Suburbs: 2 Tommy's Dam: 1 The University: 2 Lakeside Resort: 1 Bus Depot: 1 Training Manuals are worth grabbing even if you are not chasing the trophy immediately because they permanently improve useful combat and crafting abilities. Their upgrades include improvements to Shivs, Health Kits, melee weapon durability, throwable weapon effectiveness, area of effect, and crafting speed. Once you collect all 12 Training Manuals, the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Pick these up as soon as you find them. Unlike a lot of collectibles, Training Manuals actually make the rest of your playthrough easier, so there is no reason to leave them sitting around collecting apocalypse dust.

Trophy: Sticky Fingers
Open all safes
Type: Silver
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Open all 4 safes in the main game. The safe locations and combinations are: The Outskirts Subchapter: Downtown Combination: 03-43-78 This safe is found after obtaining the Molotov and moving through the area with Clickers. Bill's Town Subchapter: The Woods Combination: 05-17-21 The safe is outside the storefronts along the street before reaching Bill's traps. Pittsburgh Subchapter: Hotel Lobby Combination: 22-10-56 The safe is behind the concierge desk in the hotel lobby. The Suburbs Subchapter: Suburbs Combination: 08-21-36 The safe is on the second floor of the house containing the dartboard Optional Conversation. Each safe combination can also be learned from a nearby Artifact, which you will need anyway for Chronicles.
Tip
Grab the nearby combination Artifact before opening each safe so you make progress toward Chronicles at the same time. Four safes. Considering what passes for currency in the apocalypse, Joel is basically doing very aggressive couponing.

Trophy: That's All I Got
Survive all of Ellie's jokes
Type: Gold
Category: Collectible
Unlock Details
Trigger every one of Ellie’s Joke Book sequences across the main game and Left Behind. There are 6 joke events in total: Pittsburgh: 4 The Suburbs: 1 Left Behind: 1 In Pittsburgh, the 4 joke events are: After crossing through the bus where you can find the first Comic, deal with or avoid the hunters in the next area. Before climbing the tall barrier, wait for Ellie to pull out her Joke Book, then press Triangle to start the jokes. After clearing both floors of the bookstore, wait near the former coffee shop area with the small bonfire, close to the second-floor Shiv Door. When Ellie pulls out the book, press Triangle. After the cutscene where two hunters enter the hotel, Joel and Ellie will be near a taxi. Turn around and trigger the Optional Conversation about the fashion model. Wait afterward until Ellie starts another Joke Book sequence, then press Triangle. Inside the hotel, collect the Artifact containing the safe combination and open the safe behind the concierge desk. Return toward the elevator before going upstairs, wait for Ellie to pull out the book, then press Triangle. The Suburbs joke event requires several interactions first. After leaving the Sewers, enter the first house through the damaged exterior wall and let Henry begin talking about neighborhood barbecues. Continue down the hill and approach the first house on the next street so Sam reads the “Will Shoot On Site” warning and the following conversation plays. Continue farther down the street toward the broken ice cream truck and allow the conversation about ice cream to trigger. Finally, go around the last house on the left and reach the Firefly emblem beneath the fence. Stay in the area while the group talks. After the conversations play out, Ellie will eventually pull out her Joke Book for the final main-game joke sequence. The last joke event is in Left Behind during Fun and Games. At the beginning of the Carousel section, ride the carousel and complete the interaction with Riley. Afterward, Riley gives Ellie a Joke Book. Keep pressing Triangle to hear every joke in the book. There are 21 jokes in this sequence, so keep going until Ellie has exhausted the entire collection. The trophy should unlock after the final Joke Book sequence is completed.
Tip
Do not rush away after completing the required conversations in Pittsburgh or The Suburbs. Several Joke Book events only appear after waiting for Ellie to finish reacting to the area. You are not surviving Clickers for this trophy. You are surviving Ellie’s entire comedy career.

Trophy: Angel Knives
Defeat Black Fang without getting hit
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Defeat Black Fang without taking any damage during Left Behind. During the Fun and Games chapter, Ellie and Riley will enter Raja’s Arcade. Look to the right side of the arcade for The Turning cabinet. The screen does not work, but Riley convinces Ellie to play anyway by imagining the fight. Ellie will close her eyes and you will need to complete a series of QTE button prompts. To earn the trophy, complete every prompt correctly without making a single mistake. The exact button sequence is randomized, so do not try to memorize a fixed pattern. Focus on each prompt as it appears and input it carefully. If you complete the full fight without taking a hit, the trophy will unlock before the final finishing move.
Tip
Stay calm and prioritize accuracy over speed. The prompts change each time, so reacting cleanly is much more useful than trying to remember someone else’s sequence.
Warning
One failed input means Angel Knives takes damage and ruins the trophy attempt, so restart the checkpoint if you make a mistake. Turns out Ellie can dominate an arcade fighting game with her eyes closed. Completely normal talent to have.

Trophy: Brick Master
Win the brick throwing contest
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Beat Riley in the brick-throwing contest during Left Behind. During the Mallrats chapter, Ellie and Riley will leave the Halloween store and reach a balcony overlooking 2 cars. Riley will challenge Ellie to a game. Ellie targets the red car while Riley attacks the blue one. Grab the nearby bricks and break all 7 windows on the red car before Riley finishes breaking the windows on her car. If Ellie destroys all 7 first, she wins the contest and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Throw quickly and focus entirely on the red car. If Riley wins first, restart the checkpoint and try again.
Warning
Winning this contest is also required to trigger one of the Optional Conversations needed for Getting to Know You, so make sure you win at least once. Seven windows. One friendship. Zero respect for automotive property.

Trophy: Build Em Up, Break Em Down
Upgrade and then break one of every melee weapon
Type: Silver
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Upgrade each of the 5 melee weapon types at least once, then use up the extra durability added by the upgrade. The 5 melee weapons you need are: Lead Pipe Baseball Bat 2X4 Machete Pick Axe Melee upgrades are crafted using Bindings and Blades. For this trophy, you do not need to completely destroy each weapon. You only need to use enough hits to consume the extra durability granted by the upgrade. The first three weapon types can all be handled in Bill's Town: Lead Pipe The first upgraded Lead Pipe is found on the roof of the first building you climb in The Woods. After crossing with the plank and dropping into the next area, you can use it on the nearby Clickers. Baseball Bat After escaping the upside-down trap, Bill leads you through a laundromat. Pick up the Baseball Bat from the counter, upgrade it, then use the added durability during the incoming Runner encounter. 2X4 Between Bill's safehouse and the church armory, look for wooden planks on the floor. Pick one up, upgrade it, then use it during the Graveyard section or the neighborhood afterward. The remaining two appear later: Machete During The Suburbs: Sewers, continue through the more open section where the path splits. After clearing the infected on the left route, continue into the room with large pipes to find the Machete on the ground. Upgrade it and use the added durability during one of the upcoming infected or hunter encounters. Pick Axe During the attack at Tommy's Dam after the generator is restored, look for the Pick Axe embedded in the side of a crate. Upgrade it, then use the extra durability on the attacking hunters or save it for the encounters that follow while searching for Ellie. Once you have upgraded all 5 weapon types and consumed the added durability on each, the trophy will unlock.
Tip
As soon as you find a new melee weapon type, upgrade it and deliberately use the extra durability right away. That makes it much easier to remember which weapons you have already completed. You are not just crafting stronger melee weapons. You are giving every piece of scrap metal and lumber in America one glorious final purpose.

Trophy: Combat Ready
Fully upgrade a weapon
Type: Silver
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Fully upgrade any one weapon at a Workbench. You only need to max out a single weapon for this trophy. The easiest and cheapest option is the Revolver. Joel obtains the Revolver in The Outskirts, and it can be fully upgraded using the first 3 Workbench Tools. The Revolver requires a total of 155 Parts: Reload Speed: 15 + 20 + 30 Fire Rate: 20 + 30 + 40 Once every available upgrade for the Revolver has been purchased, the trophy will unlock. Other relatively cheap options include the Flamethrower at 160 Parts and the Bow at 230 Parts, but the Revolver is available much earlier and costs less overall.
Tip
Save enough Parts to fully finish one weapon instead of spreading upgrades across everything. The Revolver is the cleanest choice if you want this trophy as early and cheaply as possible.
Warning
Make sure you fully upgrade at least one weapon before leaving the final Workbench in the Bus Depot chapter. Joel has eight weapons. The trophy only wants one perfected. For once, the apocalypse respects your budget.

Trophy: Geared Up
Craft every item
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Craft each of the 6 available item types at least once. The required items are: Health Kit Shiv Molotov Upgraded Melee Weapon Nail Bomb Smoke Bomb The crafting materials used throughout the game are Alcohol, Bindings, Blades, Explosives, Rags, and Sugar. Health Kit Uses Alcohol and Rags. The recipe becomes available after Tess gives Joel his first Health Kit during The Quarantine Zone. Shiv Uses Bindings and Blades. The recipe becomes available during the Warehouse section of The Quarantine Zone. Molotov Uses Alcohol and Rags. The recipe becomes available after picking up the Molotov in the Subway during The Outskirts. Upgraded Melee Weapon Uses Bindings, Blades, and a melee weapon. This becomes available once upgraded melee weapons are introduced in Bill's Town. Nail Bomb Uses Blades and Explosives. The recipe becomes available when Bill gives Joel the Nail Bomb in his armory. Smoke Bomb Uses Explosives and Sugar. The Smoke Bomb is found in Pittsburgh shortly after the opening attack, inside the garage containing the body pile. Look on the shelf near Workbench Tool #2. Once you have personally crafted one of every item type, the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Loot thoroughly and craft items as their recipes become available instead of saving every material forever. The game gives you plenty of opportunities to restock if you explore. The real survival horror is realizing you have been carrying enough supplies to craft everything for three chapters and just forgot.

Trophy: In Memoriam
Pick up Frank's note after it's discarded
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Pick up Frank’s note after Bill throws it away. Near the end of Bill’s Town, you will enter a house containing the pickup truck that Bill and Ellie prepare to use. While Bill is working on the truck, search the house and find the note addressed to him. Bring the note back to Bill and give it to him during the Optional Conversation. Bill will read it, react exactly as you would expect Bill to react, and throw the note onto the floor near the front-right side of the garage. Walk around the truck and pick the discarded note back up. The trophy will unlock once you collect it again.
Tip
There are two Optional Conversations in this area, including one with Ellie, so make sure you trigger both before leaving.
Warning
Do not interact with the truck hatch and progress the scene before picking Frank’s discarded note back up. Frank leaves Bill one final message. Bill’s response? Straight to the floor.

Trophy: Left Hanging
Leave Ellie hanging after a job well done
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Refuse Ellie’s high five at the beginning of Tommy's Dam. After arriving at the dam, Joel and Ellie need to create a way across. Swim underwater and retrieve the wooden pallet, then use it to move Ellie from one side of the dam to the other. Once Ellie reaches the controls, both of you can operate the mechanisms and create the bridge. Cross over to Ellie. She will hold out her hand for a high five and a Triangle prompt will appear. Do absolutely nothing. Wait until the moment passes and Ellie reacts to being left hanging. The trophy will then unlock.
Tip
After the trophy pops, you can restart the checkpoint and give Ellie the high five she deserved in the first place. There are Clickers. There are Hunters. And somehow this is still the cruelest thing Joel does for a trophy.

Trophy: Lights Out
While in stealth, turn off the spotlight generator in Pittsburgh
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Turn off the spotlight generator while remaining in stealth during Pittsburgh. Near the end of Pittsburgh, after meeting Henry and Sam, the group needs to get through the heavily guarded area blocking the escape route toward the bridge. Start from the lower part of the building with Henry and move toward the generator beneath the searchlight platform. Take out the first two hunters near the bonfire with Henry. From there, move between the vehicles and stay out of the searchlight while it sweeps the area. Avoid alerting the remaining hunters and make your way to the generator. Interact with it while you are still undetected to shut off the spotlight. The trophy will unlock immediately.
Tip
Once the generator is off and the trophy pops, you no longer need to worry about maintaining stealth for the trophy requirement. Apparently Joel’s greatest enemy in Pittsburgh was not the hunters. It was the electric bill.

Trophy: Live Bait
Use bricks or bottles to lure an infected into attacking a human
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Use a Brick or Bottle to lure an infected enemy into attacking a human. A reliable place to do this is during The Enemy of My Enemy, the final section of Left Behind. After Ellie crawls through a duct, you will reach an area with several Clickers below while a group of hunters enters the nearby clothing store. There is a Brick close to where Ellie exits the duct. Pick it up and throw it between the infected and the hunters. The noise should draw the infected toward the humans and cause them to attack each other. Once an infected attacks a human, the trophy will unlock. You also get another good opportunity shortly afterward. In the next encounter area, leave some of the Runners and Clickers alive. When hunters enter the area, throw a Brick or Bottle into the middle of the room to draw the infected toward them.
Tip
Stay back after throwing the object and let the two groups fight. This keeps you safer and makes it easier to see whether the trophy condition triggers. Nothing says resource conservation like convincing your enemies to solve each other for you.

Trophy: Nobody's Perfect
Play the Jak X game in Left Behind
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Play the Jak X arcade machine during Left Behind. During the Fun and Games chapter, Riley will take Ellie into Raja’s Arcade. Head to the back-left corner of the arcade and look for the Jak X Racing cabinet. Walk up to it and press Triangle. The machine does not actually work, so Ellie imagines herself playing instead. Watch the full scene and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
Explore the arcade before moving on with Riley so you do not walk past the cabinet. The apocalypse may have killed the power. It did not kill Ellie’s imagination.

Trophy: Skillz
Win the water gun fight
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Win the water gun fight against Riley during Left Behind. Near the end of the Fun and Games chapter, Riley gives Ellie her water guns back and challenges her to a fight. To use the water gun, pump it with R2, then aim with L2 and fire with R2. The fight has 3 rounds. In the first round, fill Riley’s Soak Level meter before she fills Ellie’s. The second and third rounds are sudden death, meaning the first person hit loses the round. Use the clothing racks and counters for cover, move around Riley, and try to land the first shot as quickly as possible during the final 2 rounds. Win the full water gun fight and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
If you are struggling, lower the difficulty to Very Light. This makes the fight much easier to control. After everything Ellie survives, her toughest opponent may still be Riley with a water gun.

Trophy: Waterlogged
Ride the sewer contraption with Henry and Sam
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Ride the sewer contraption with Henry and Sam during The Suburbs. Partway through the Sewers, you will reach a flooded area with a car sticking out of the water and a large movable platform. First, swim underwater and remove the metal debris blocking the gate. After Henry opens the gate, swim into the next area and go up the steps. Grab the wooden pallet and throw it into the water. Swim it back to Ellie, then ferry her across to the opposite side so she can reach the controls for the contraption. As soon as Ellie gets into position, quickly return to Henry and Sam and jump onto the moving platform with them before Ellie activates it. Ride across with Henry and Sam and the trophy will unlock.
Tip
As soon as Ellie reaches the controls, stop exploring and head straight back to Henry and Sam so you are already standing on the platform before it moves.
Warning
If Ellie moves the contraption before you get on, restart the checkpoint and try again. Joel spends half the game finding ways to transport Ellie across water. This time, he finally gets to enjoy the ride.

Trophy: Who's A Good Boy?
Pet Buckley the dog
Type: Bronze
Category: Misc
Unlock Details
Pet Buckley during Tommy's Dam. After arriving inside Tommy’s facility, Joel will be given a tour of the area. Eventually, you will approach the control room where everyone is working on getting the generator running again. Just before entering the building, look for a black-and-white dog named Buckley playing with a tennis ball. Walk up to Buckley and press Triangle to pet him. The trophy will unlock immediately.
Tip
Do this before entering the control room so you do not accidentally move the story forward. There are a lot of important things happening at the dam. None of them are more important than petting the dog.

Trophy: Don't Go
Complete Left Behind
Type: Gold
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Complete Left Behind. You can play Left Behind on any difficulty. The trophy unlocks automatically once you finish the full Left Behind story. If this is your first time playing The Last of Us, it is better to finish the main game before starting Left Behind. Although parts of Left Behind take place earlier in the timeline, it also includes scenes that reveal events from later in the main story.
Warning
Playing Left Behind first can spoil story developments leading up to the Lakeside Resort chapter, so save it until after the main game if you want the intended story experience.

Trophy: No Matter What
Complete Part 1
Type: Gold
Category: Story
Unlock Details
Complete the main story of The Last of Us Part I. You can play on any difficulty, from Very Light all the way up to Grounded. There is no New Game Plus requirement and no difficulty-related requirement tied to this trophy. Once you complete the Epilogue, the trophy will unlock automatically.
Tip
Pick the difficulty you will actually enjoy. The Platinum does not care how much pain you put yourself through, so there is no trophy-related reason to force a Grounded playthrough.

Start with the main story and play on whatever difficulty feels right. The Last of Us Part I does not require a high-difficulty run or New Game+ for the Platinum, so you can experience the story without worrying about locking yourself into a harder route.
If you want the cleanest one-playthrough path, follow a collectible guide as you go. Most of the trophy work comes from the huge number of collectibles and interactions spread across the game, including Artifacts, Optional Conversations, Ellie’s Jokes, Training Manuals, Workbenches, Workbench Tools, Shiv Doors, Comics, Firefly Pendants, and Safes. There are 238 collectible-style items in the main game, so this is where most of your attention should go.
As you continue through the story, keep collecting everything you reasonably can and make sure you do not skip the 5 Workbench Tools found across Bill’s Town, Pittsburgh, The Suburbs, The University, and the Bus Depot. These are especially important for Sharpest Tool in the Shed and are best collected during the same playthrough.
You should also naturally make progress toward trophies such as Fallen Firefly, Self Help, Savage Starlight Fan, Geared Up, Sticky Fingers, Combat Ready, Build Em Up, Break Em Down, and No Matter What. There is no need to rush or overthink combat trophies; explore carefully, upgrade as you go, and let the story carry most of the run.
Finish the main story, then use Chapter Select to clean up any collectibles or miscellaneous trophies you missed. Chapter Select shows collectible totals by chapter and subchapter, which makes it much easier to identify where your missing items are instead of replaying the entire game.
This is also a good time to clean up In Memorium, Lights Out, Waterlogged, Left Hanging, Who’s A Good Boy?, Something to Fight For, Prepared for the Worst, Master of Unlocking, and Endure and Survive if any of them are still outstanding. Before using Chapter Select heavily, make a backup save as a precaution, since some players have reported progress behaving strangely when jumping backward through chapters.
Once the main game is finished, move on to Left Behind. It is best played after the main story because it contains story context that lands much better once you already know what happens in the main game.
Left Behind is much shorter, with only a couple of sections involving serious combat, but it still contains important collectible progress. You will need its 14 Optional Conversations, 14 Artifacts, and the final set of Ellie’s Jokes, along with several miscellaneous activity trophies tied to Ellie and Riley.
If you followed a collectible guide during the main story, cleanup should be fairly light. The biggest thing to avoid is missing one of the 5 Workbench Tools, since those are the collectibles most likely to turn a comfortable one-playthrough Platinum into an unnecessary second run.
The Last of Us Part I has a much friendlier trophy list than the original versions: one playthrough, any difficulty, no multiplayer grind, and no Grounded New Game+ requirement. The real challenge is not surviving Clickers.
It is remembering whether you already opened that one Shiv Door three chapters ago.
