Find all artifacts and journal entries

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 127 Artifacts and 20 Journal Entries, for a total of 147 required collectibles. Artifacts are documents, notes, and other pieces of information found throughout both Ellie and Abby’s sections. You will commonly find them inside apartments and other buildings, sitting on furniture, attached to walls, near bodies, or tucked into explorable areas away from the main path. Journal Entries are exclusive to Ellie. These usually involve examining a notable object or location that prompts Ellie to add a drawing or note to her journal. There are collectibles all the way through the epilogue, so keep exploring even when you are approaching the end of the story. If you miss something, you can return through Chapter Select. Once you pick up a missing Artifact or complete a Journal Entry, the game saves the collectible progress, so you can quit back out afterward instead of finishing the entire chapter again.

Tip

Use Item Pulse in Listen Mode while thoroughly searching each area. Some locations contain several Artifacts packed surprisingly close together, so do not assume you are finished after finding just one. One hundred and forty-seven pieces of evidence that even after civilization ends, people will still leave notes absolutely everywhere.

Trophy: High Caliber

Find all weapons

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 7 non-starting weapons across Ellie and Abby’s sections. Some weapons are obtained automatically through the story, while others are hidden and need to be collected manually. Ellie’s weapons: Pump Shotgun Seattle Day 1: Downtown Go to Westlake Bank and open the vault using: 60-23-06 The Pump Shotgun is on the body of a guard inside the vault. Bow Seattle Day 2: Hillcrest This weapon is story-related. After reaching the house with the playhouse in the backyard, enter the garage and defeat the infected that attacks you. Pick up the Bow from the corpse before continuing. Silenced Submachine Gun Santa Barbara: Pushing Inland This weapon is story-related and is given to you automatically during the chapter. Abby’s weapons: Hunting Pistol Seattle Day 1: On Foot After leaving the boat rental area and before dropping down to the railway tracks, look for a nearby building with a hole in the back wall. Enter and open the safe using: 17-38-07 The Hunting Pistol is inside. Double Barrelled Shotgun Seattle Day 1: Hostile Territory When you reach the strip of shops, enter the third shop on the left. Go upstairs, pass through the restaurant, and jump across the gap. Continue through the area, watching out for Clickers. At the end, turn left and follow the shop until you find a hole in the floor. Drop down and look behind the counter in the antiques-style shop to find the Double Barrelled Shotgun. Crossbow Seattle Day 1: The Coast This weapon is story-related and obtained automatically while progressing through the ferry. Flamethrower Seattle Day 2: The Descent After descending using the electrical cable, you will enter an infected nest. There are multiple Flamethrower pickups in this area. One reliable location is on a couch near 2 Clickers. Once all 7 weapons have been obtained, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Grab the Pump Shotgun and Hunting Pistol as early as possible. Both are hidden weapons and extremely useful for the rest of their respective campaigns. Seven weapons collected. Because apparently one apocalypse loadout was not enough.

Trophy: In the Field

Find 12 workbenches

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find 12 Workbenches. There are 25 Workbenches in total throughout the game. This trophy is simply a halfway milestone on the way to Prepared For the Worst. You do not need to fully upgrade anything at these Workbenches. Once the game registers your 12th Workbench, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Interact with every Workbench you find anyway so you can spend Parts and keep making progress toward Mechanist and Arms Master. Twelve Workbenches down. Only thirteen more excuses to completely dismantle your guns in the middle of the apocalypse.

Find all training manuals

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 8 Training Manuals in the game. There are 4 for Ellie and 4 for Abby. Each Training Manual unlocks a new skill tree, so collecting them is also required for Survival Expert and makes later combat much easier. Ellie’s Training Manuals: Crafting Training Manual Seattle Day 1: Downtown Go to the broken bridge around 6th and Marion. Use the hose on the fire truck to rappel down, then swing over to the nearby overturned truck. The Training Manual is inside. Stealth Training Manual Seattle Day 1: Capitol Hill Go to the bookstore opposite the gas station. Head into the back room. The Training Manual is on a small coffee table in the far corner. Precision Training Manual Seattle Day 2: Hillcrest After the first large combat area, you will reach a section with several shops. Enter the Goldstar Liquor basement and fight your way through until you emerge inside the toy store. The Training Manual is on the floor near the counter. Explosives Training Manual Seattle Day 2: The Seraphites Near the beginning of the chapter, pass the bar and enter the luxury apartments on the left through the basement. Make your way to the first floor and interact with the Workbench. This triggers an ambush from 4 deserters and opens the previously locked room they were hiding in. The Training Manual is inside that room. Abby’s Training Manuals: Covert Ops Training Manual Seattle Day 1: On Foot After leaving the large DIY store, Abby and Mel use a ladder to reach an opening near a hanging boat. Climb into the boat. The Training Manual is inside. Close Quarters Training Manual Seattle Day 1: Hostile Territory After separating from Manny and before entering Tang Fabrics, look for apartment number 85 across the way. Enter through the side window. The Training Manual is on the kitchen counter. Firearms Training Manual Seattle Day 1: The Forest After the one-on-one melee fight with the large axe-wielding enemy, continue into the garage. Exit the main garage, turn right, then turn right again into the small room at the end. The Training Manual is inside. Ordnance Training Manual Seattle Day 2: The Coast Reach the top deck and bridge of the large ferry. Open the safe using: 90-77-01 The final Training Manual is inside. Once all 8 have been collected, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Prioritize these even if you are not following a full collectible route. They unlock entire upgrade branches and are required before you can purchase every player upgrade for Survival Expert. Eight Training Manuals. Because apparently surviving Seattle requires a surprising amount of assigned reading.

Trophy: Master Set

Find all trading cards

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 48 Trading Cards during Ellie’s sections of the game. Trading Cards are hidden throughout Ellie’s campaign and can be easy to overlook because many are tucked into small environmental details. Common places to check include shop shelves, drawers, notice boards, and other objects around abandoned buildings. Some are hidden in less obvious spots, including one attached to the spoke of a bicycle. There are also Trading Cards in the epilogue, so keep searching all the way through the end of the game. Once you collect all 48, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Turn on Item Pulse in the accessibility settings and use it while exploring. It makes these much easier to spot, especially the cards tucked into cluttered environments. Forty-eight cards. Naughty Dog clearly looked at every shelf in Seattle and asked, “Could we hide something here?”

Trophy: Mint Condition

Find 5 coins

Type: Bronze

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find any 5 Coins during Abby’s sections of the game. There are 32 Coins in total, all of which are needed for Numismatist. If you are collecting them in order, you should reach 5 before leaving The Stadium during Abby’s Seattle Day 1. There are 4 Coins in The Stadium, and 1 earlier Coin is obtained automatically in The Park. Once your 5th Coin is collected, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Keep Item Pulse turned on during Abby’s sections. Coins are tiny and much easier to miss than most other collectibles. Five coins collected. Not enough to buy anything. Plenty enough for a trophy.

Mint Condition PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Numismatist

Find all coins

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 32 Coins during Abby’s sections of the game. Each Coin is named after a U.S. state. You receive the first Coin automatically during The Park, after Ellie’s Seattle Day 3 section is complete. From that point on, the remaining Coins need to be found manually throughout Abby’s campaign. Because Coins are much smaller than Trading Cards, they can be harder to spot. They can appear in places such as registers, vending machines, fountains, parking structures, and other small environmental hiding spots. Some are placed in particularly sneaky locations, including one at the bottom of a swimming pool and another behind a glass window inside a parking garage booth. The final Coin is the Arkansas Coin during The Escape. Collect all 32 Coins and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Use Item Pulse constantly during Abby’s sections and thoroughly search indoor areas before moving on. Coins are small enough to disappear into the environment very easily. Thirty-two state coins. Apparently Abby’s apocalypse hobby is doing the world’s most dangerous version of collecting quarters.

Trophy: Prepared For the Worst

Find all workbenches

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 25 Workbenches throughout the game. Workbenches are where Ellie and Abby can spend Parts to upgrade their weapons, so most of them are placed along or close to the main path. A few are tucked farther out of the way, though, so keep exploring side rooms and optional areas as you move through each chapter. You do not actually need to use a Workbench for it to count. Simply getting close enough for the game to register it and change the HUD icon is enough. The final Workbench is found during the epilogue inside the enemy compound. Once all 25 have been discovered, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Interact with every Workbench anyway. You will need plenty of weapon upgrades for Mechanist and Arms Master, so you may as well spend those Parts while you are already there. Twenty-five Workbenches. At this point Ellie and Abby have probably spent more time modifying guns than most people spend fixing their kitchen.

Trophy: Relic of the Sages

Find the Strange Artifact

Type: Bronze

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find the Strange Artifact during Abby’s Seattle Day 1: Hostile Territory. Early in the chapter, Abby reaches a small strip of shops and restaurants while heading toward Owen. Enter the Ruby Dragon, which is the last shop on the left. Go upstairs and deal with the 2 Clickers. From the upper floor, sprint and jump across the gap to the buildings on the opposite side. After landing, head left and enter the building. Once inside, go right until you reach a room with a hole in the floor. Do not drop down yet. Turn around and look toward the coffee table in the corner. Pick up the Strange Artifact sitting there. It is actually a Precursor Orb from Jak and Daxter. The trophy will unlock immediately.

Tip

This also counts as a normal Artifact for Archivist, so grabbing it helps with two trophies at once. In a world full of infected and cultists, Abby somehow finds one of the most valuable objects in Naughty Dog history sitting on a coffee table.

Tip

Always open safes when you find them. They often contain valuable ammo, Parts, Supplements, and other supplies that make the rest of the game much easier. Fourteen safes. Seattle apparently collapsed, but everyone still remembered to lock up their good stuff.

Trophy: Sightseer

Visit every location in downtown Seattle

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Visit all 10 marked locations in Downtown Seattle during Ellie’s Seattle Day 1. Downtown is the largest open exploration section in the game. As Ellie discovers points of interest, they will appear on the map as question marks. You only need to visit each location for this trophy. You do not need to completely loot or clear them. The 10 required locations are: Westlake Bank Synagogue Ruined Building at the southern corner of Marion and 6th Security Truck in the water between Spring and Madison, and 6th and 7th Avenue Army Tent north of the Synagogue Gate West 2 Stash Valiant Music Shop Viewpoint Hotel Barko’s Pet Store Courthouse Once all 10 locations have been visited, the trophy will unlock. There are also a couple of optional spots worth exploring, including another Security Truck reached using the bridge and fire truck, plus the Tank.

Tip

Fully explore each location while you are there. Downtown contains plenty of collectibles and useful supplies, so clearing the map properly saves you from coming back later. Seattle Day 1 gives you a horse, a map, and ten places to explore. At that point, the apocalypse basically turns into tourism.

Trophy: So Great and Small

Find the Engraved Ring

Type: Bronze

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find the Engraved Ring during Ellie’s Seattle Day 1: Downtown. As soon as Downtown opens up, head to Westlake Bank. Clear out the infected inside, then make your way to the large vault door at the back. Enter the code: 60-23-06 Once inside the vault, go to the back-right corner and interact with the safe deposit box. Inside is the Engraved Ring. Pick it up and the trophy will unlock. The ring is a nod to Uncharted and Francis Drake’s ring, so this is one of Naughty Dog’s more obvious little winks.

Tip

Grab the Pump Shotgun while you are inside the bank too. It is in the same vault area and is one of the most useful early weapons you can pick up. A bank vault. A shotgun. A legendary ring. Not a bad detour.

Find any 5 Trading Cards during Ellie’s sections of the game. There are 48 Trading Cards in total, and this trophy is simply an early milestone on the way to Master Set. If you are collecting everything as you go, you should reach your 5th card during Seattle Day 1: The Gate, around the bus stop on the way into Downtown.

Tip

Use Item Pulse while exploring so the smaller collectibles stand out more clearly against the environment. Five cards down. Only forty-three more opportunities for Naughty Dog to hide one somewhere mildly evil.

Trophy: Arms Master

Fully upgrade all weapons

Type: Gold

Category: Grind

Unlock Details

Fully upgrade every weapon for both Ellie and Abby. Before you can finish this trophy, you will need to obtain all of the game’s weapons. Weapon upgrades are purchased at Workbenches using Parts, which are represented by the nuts-and-bolts icon. Parts can be found throughout the game in places such as safes, garages, shops, around Workbenches, and other explorable areas. Loot as thoroughly as possible during your first playthrough and spend your Parts whenever you reach a Workbench. There are not enough Parts available to fully upgrade every weapon in one normal playthrough, so you will need to continue into New Game Plus. Your existing weapon upgrades carry over, allowing you to collect more Parts and finish whatever upgrades remain. Once every weapon upgrade for both characters has been purchased, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Use Enhanced Listen Mode and Item Pulse while exploring to help locate Parts you might otherwise walk past.

Warning

Plan on New Game Plus for this trophy. There are not enough weapon Parts to fully upgrade the entire arsenal in a single playthrough. Turns out the real endgame was not revenge. It was finding enough loose nuts and bolts to max out every gun.

Trophy: Survival Expert

Learn all player upgrades

Type: Gold

Category: Grind

Unlock Details

Learn every player upgrade for both Ellie and Abby. First, you need to find all 8 Training Manuals, since these unlock the additional upgrade branches required for the trophy. After that, collect Supplements throughout both characters’ campaigns and spend them on every available player upgrade. Supplements are commonly found in places such as bathrooms, cabinets, shops, storage rooms, and safes, so explore thoroughly instead of rushing directly through each area. There are not enough Supplements available in a single playthrough to fully upgrade both Ellie and Abby. You will need to continue into New Game Plus with your upgrades carried over. Ellie will require additional progress during New Game Plus, and Abby will also need part of her second campaign before you have enough Supplements to finish her remaining upgrades. Once every upgrade for both characters has been purchased, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Loot aggressively during your first playthrough and open every safe you find. The more Supplements you collect now, the less time you will need to spend in New Game Plus.

Warning

This trophy cannot normally be completed in a single playthrough, so plan on reaching Abby’s section again in New Game Plus. The apocalypse has many problems. Apparently one of them is not having enough vitamins to max out your skill tree.

Trophy: Survival Training

Learn 25 player upgrades

Type: Silver

Category: Grind

Unlock Details

Learn 25 player upgrades across Ellie and Abby. Player upgrades are purchased using Supplements. You do not need 25 upgrades on a single character. Progress across both Ellie and Abby counts toward the total. Training Manuals unlock additional upgrade branches, giving you more skills to purchase as you progress. Keep collecting Supplements and spending them throughout the story. Once you have purchased your 25th player upgrade, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Explore bathrooms, shops, cabinets, safes, and side rooms thoroughly for Supplements. You will eventually need every upgrade for Survival Expert anyway, so none of that scavenging goes to waste. Twenty-five upgrades down. Only several hundred suspicious pills left to swallow.

Put a hat on your companion

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Put the cowboy hat on Joel during The Birthday Gift. During the museum flashback, enter the gift shop near the foyer and pick up the cowboy hat. Take the hat into the dinosaur exhibit. Place it on any dinosaur and wait for the dialogue to finish. Pick the hat back up. Place it on a different dinosaur and let the second dialogue interaction play out. Pick the hat up again. Now walk over to Joel. A Triangle prompt should appear above him. Press Triangle to put the hat on Joel and unlock the trophy.

Tip

Make sure you use the hat on 2 different dinosaurs first. The interaction with Joel will not appear until you have triggered both dinosaur reactions. Joel has survived infected, hunters, and decades of misery. The cowboy hat is where dignity finally loses.

Earn the high score in the archery game

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Beat the high score in the archery game during Abby’s Winter Visit flashback. During the aquarium flashback, look toward the back-left side of the main room for a purple toy bow. Pick it up to start the archery challenge with Owen. There are 13 white paper targets hidden around the aquarium. The current high score is 10, so you need to hit at least 11 targets to beat it. You have roughly one minute to complete the challenge. There is no visible timer, but Owen will count down the final 10 seconds. The arrows have noticeable drop, so aim a little higher for targets that are farther away. Hit 11 or more targets before time runs out and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Before picking up the bow, look around the room and memorize as many target locations as possible. Knowing where to turn next saves a lot of time once the challenge starts. Thirteen targets. You only need eleven. Which is exactly enough room for panic.

Trophy: Sharpshooter

Win the marksmanship competition

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Beat Manny in the marksmanship competition during Abby’s Seattle Day 1: The Stadium. Near the end of The Stadium chapter, Abby will collect a weapon from the armory before heading out. Before leaving, go to the shooting range and accept Manny’s challenge. You are given 9 shots and there is no time limit. Headshots are worth 10 points each, so a perfect run gives you 90 points. Manny usually scores around 83, so you do not need to be perfect. You just need to finish with a higher score than him. Take your time, line up each shot carefully, and aim for the head whenever possible. Once your score beats Manny’s, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Since there is no timer, slow down and make every shot count. A few missed 10-point hits can still be fine as long as you finish above Manny. Nine bullets. One competition. And finally, a socially acceptable reason to show off.

Tip

Do not worry about saving every Part early on. You will need plenty of upgrades later for Mechanist and Arms Master anyway, so spending some at the first Workbench is perfectly fine.

Craft every item

Type: Bronze

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Craft every available item type for both Ellie and Abby at least once. The tricky part is not the crafting itself. It is unlocking all of the required recipes first. Ellie’s craftable items: Health Kit Jackson: Patrol Unlocked automatically when Dina gives Ellie a Health Kit during the story. Molotov Jackson: Patrol Also unlocked automatically during the story. Stun/Smoke Bomb Seattle Day 1: Downtown Find the recipe in one of the small lookout huts above the entrance to the Synagogue, also known as the FEDRA Ration Distribution Center. Melee Upgrade Seattle Day 1: Downtown Find the Crafting Training Manual, then purchase the upgrade that unlocks Melee Upgrades. The Training Manual is reached by using the fire hose on the broken bridge in Downtown and swinging over to the nearby truck. Trap Mine Seattle Day 1: Capitol Hill Near the Capitol Inn, move the dumpster beneath the apartment balcony and climb up. The recipe is inside the back bedroom. Silencer Seattle Day 1: Capitol Hill Find the Stealth Training Manual and purchase the Silencer upgrade. The Training Manual is found in the bookstore near the gas station. Explosive Arrows Seattle Day 2: The Seraphites Find the Explosives Training Manual and purchase the required upgrade. The manual is inside the luxury apartments. Interact with the Workbench on the first floor, survive the ambush from the 4 WLF deserters, then search the room they were hiding in. Abby’s craftable items: Health Kit Available from the start. Silencer Available from the start. Melee Upgrade Available from the start. Pipe Bomb Seattle Day 1: On Foot Unlocked automatically during the story while progressing through the warehouse. Shiv Seattle Day 1: On Foot Find the Covert Ops Training Manual and purchase the Shiv upgrade. The manual is inside the suspended boat Abby and Mel climb through while escaping the boat rental area. Incendiary Shells Seattle Day 1: The Forest Find the Firearms Training Manual and purchase the required upgrade. The manual is found near the garage after the melee fight with the large Scar enemy. Hunting Pistol Ammo Seattle Day 1: The Forest This also comes from the Firearms Training Manual. Purchase the Hunting Pistol Ammo upgrade once the branch is available. After every required item has been crafted at least once across both characters, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

As soon as you unlock a new recipe, craft one of that item right away.
