The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Trophy Roadmap

EARLY GAME

If you're comfortable with The Witcher 3's combat, start on Death March! so you can earn all three difficulty trophies in one playthrough. This is the most efficient Platinum route, and with a focused Platinum walkthrough the game can be much faster and easier than older 100+ hour estimates suggest.

Death March is toughest early when Geralt is underleveled and poorly equipped. Food and other healing items matter because meditation will not restore your health. Do useful side quests, Witcher Contracts, and nearby activities when you need levels or better gear, but you do not need to clear every question mark on the map.

Start paying attention to the genuinely missable trophies early, especially quest-related requirements and Full Crew. Gwent also has missable cards, so if you are following a Platinum walkthrough, collecting them during this first run can save you from needing the traditional second playthrough.

MID GAME

As the world opens up, keep progressing the story while completing the side quests tied to major characters and political storylines. Important trophy paths include Friends With Benefits, Kingmaker, Assassin of Kings, and recruiting every possible ally required for Full Crew.

This is also a good time to work through Witcher Contracts naturally. You eventually need all of them for Geralt: The Professional, and Even Odds requires killing two contracted monsters without Signs, potions, mutagens, oils, or bombs. Woodland Spirit also requires some attention because the choices around that contract can affect whether you earn its trophy.

If you're collecting Gwent cards in the same playthrough, stay on top of them as you move through each region. This is much cleaner than reaching the end and discovering that Geralt's greatest enemy was not the Wild Hunt — it was a card you forgot to buy 25 hours ago.

LATE GAME

Before pushing through the final stretch of the story, double-check any remaining missable quest trophies and make sure you have recruited everyone needed for Full Crew. Avoid changing the difficulty if you started on Death March, since completing the game on that setting earns Passed the Trial, Ran the Gauntlet, and Walked the Path together.

Continue finishing contracts, races, fist fights, Gwent, and useful side content whenever convenient. You need all Witcher Contracts for Geralt: The Professional, all major fist-fighting quests for Brawl Master, and all horse races for Fast and Furious.

Once you defeat the final story objectives and complete the game on Death March, the hardest-looking part of the Platinum is behind you. It sounds intimidating on paper, but once your build, gear, and Quen usage are established, Death March becomes much more manageable.

TROPHY CLEANUP AND EXTRA TIPS

After the story, use your existing save for cleanup. Finish any remaining Witcher Contracts, fist fights, horse races, monster nests, fast travel points, Witcher gear, abilities, formulas, and miscellaneous combat trophies.

Several combat trophies can be farmed quickly once you know exactly what they require, including The Enemy of My Enemy, Humpty Dumpty, That Is the Evilest Thing…, Triple Threat, Overkill, Master Marksman, and What Was That? There is little reason to grind these early unless an easy opportunity appears naturally.

The older roadmap approach recommends a second playthrough specifically for Gwent cards and missed trophies. A focused Platinum walkthrough can avoid that. If you collect the missable cards and complete the important quest decisions during your Death March run, the Platinum can be achieved in a single playthrough with cleanup afterward.

For an experienced player following an optimized walkthrough, expect something closer to roughly 35–40 hours rather than the much longer completion estimates often associated with a blind or completion-heavy run. The Platinum is also more manageable than its reputation suggests — the real challenge is planning the missables correctly, not surviving 100 hours of Death March misery.

Use Ask Gami whenever you're unsure about a quest choice, missing Gwent card, contract, or trophy condition. With the missables handled correctly, the rest is mostly cleanup — and maybe wondering why Geralt has saved the world three times but still drops everything for a round of Gwent.
