Until Dawn Trophy Roadmap

EARLY GAME

For your first playthrough, the cleanest route is to aim for everyone surviving while collecting everything. Until Dawn is much more fun when you are not staring at a checklist every thirty seconds, but there are a few choices worth keeping in the back of your mind because they affect trophies much later. Most importantly, respect the wildlife on Blackwood Mountain from the beginning and avoid actions that can ruin the Blackwood Country trophy.

Chapters 1 and 2 are mostly about settling into the story, learning how choices and QTEs work, and grabbing a few easy miscellaneous trophies along the way. In Chapter 2, you can earn Lodge Fever by starting the required confrontations in the lodge and One Hour Selfie by taking the bad selfie with Jessica. Nothing too terrifying yet. Give it time.

Your first run should also be your collectible run. Pick up Totems, clues, interactables, and any special items you come across so you can work toward The Tale of The Two Sisters, You Opened Their Eyes, The Fateful Descent, An Omen?, It’s Shining, Carnival of Solitude, and Patient Sematary without needing a giant cleanup later.

MID GAME

Once you reach Chapters 4 through 7, the Platinum route starts getting a little more serious. In Chapter 4, make sure Mike reaches Jessica without failing a QTE for Drag Me Through Hell. In Chapter 5, do not kick the wolf in the Sanatorium, and feed him the bones from the box in the chapel. You will need to keep that friendship going for The Skillful Wolf Man later.

Chapter 5 is also important for Sam. During the Psycho sequence, successfully escape to earn When a Psycho Calls. On this first playthrough, you are trying to preserve the survival route, so leave trophies involving attacking the Psycho or making deliberately bad choices for your second run.

Keep collecting everything as you move through the mountain. One of the biggest benefits of handling collectibles during the survival playthrough is that you can enjoy your later runs without checking every dark corner for another clue hiding behind a chair. In Chapter 6, you can also work toward Just Breathe by successfully defending yourself with the flare gun when the opportunity comes.

LATE GAME

From Chapter 8 onward, protecting the group becomes the priority. In Chapter 8, make sure the events involving Emily and Ashley play out correctly for Talk to eM. Continue following the survival-friendly choices and avoid unnecessary risks, because this first run is where you want They All Live.

Chapter 9 contains several important moments. Keep the wolf alive through the Sanatorium for The Skillful Wolf Man, successfully escape as Mike for An American Survivor in Canada, and be very careful during Ashley’s section in the sewers. Investigate the strange noise because there is a collectible nearby, but do not open the trapdoor during this playthrough.

You should also be working toward the best outcome for Josh for We Need To Talk About Josh, another trophy that depends on choices made across the game. By the time you reach the finale, the goal is simple: keep all eight friends alive, finish your remaining collectibles, and survive Until Dawn with as few emotional casualties as possible. Which, for this game, is asking quite a lot.

TROPHY CLEANUP AND EXTRA TIPS

Your second playthrough flips the script completely: this time, nobody survives. Use this run for This Is THE End and collect the alternate-choice trophies you intentionally skipped during the survival route. These include Saw That Coming by having Mike cut off his fingers in Chapter 5, The Psycho Path by attacking the Psycho with a weapon, Nightmare on Ash Street through Ashley’s Chapter 8 choice involving Chris, and You Let The Wrong One In! by opening the trapdoor in Chapter 9.

You will then need a run where Matt and Jessica are the only survivors for Only Others Left Alive. If Jessica is already alive in your existing save path, you may be able to begin from Chapter 6 rather than replaying everything from the start. The important part is that Matt and Jessica survive while the other six characters do not.

Finally, clean up Fatal Destination after completing a full playthrough. Start a new Prologue and make different choices from the ones you made the first time. Once the game recognizes that you have attempted to change the past, the trophy should unlock when you return to Dr. Hill.

The Platinum sounds more complicated than it really is because Until Dawn has so many branching choices. Break it into those clear goals—everyone lives, everyone dies, Matt and Jessica survive, then final cleanup—and it becomes much easier to manage. If a specific choice, collectible, or trophy starts turning Blackwood Mountain into a maze, Ask Gami and get yourself pointed back toward dawn.
