Trophy: An American Survivor in Canada

Mike successfully escapes the Sanatorium in Chapter 9

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Successfully escape the Sanatorium as Mike in Chapter 9. Mike returns to the Sanatorium to discover that the place has somehow become even less welcoming. This time, it is packed with Wendigos, so you’ll need to make it through the entire sequence without failing the important QTEs or Don’t Move events. During the first chase, Mike will push a barrel past two Wendigos. Shoot the barrel when you get the chance. Later, during the final chase, choose Barricade instead of Run. This is the safer option and also helps if you are working toward The Skillful Wolf Man. Near the end of the sequence, Mike will face two Wendigos with several possible targets. Shoot the barrel positioned between them. If Mike successfully makes it through the Sanatorium, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Choosing Barricade during the final chase is the safer route and works well with your The Skillful Wolf Man attempt if the wolf is still alive.

Warning

Missing important QTEs, Don’t Move events, or the required barrel shots can ruin the escape. Mike has survived a lot by this point, so try not to let an explosive barrel be the thing that finally defeats him.

Trophy: Ashley Snaps

Ashley snapped and let Chris die

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Ashley refuse to open the lodge door for Chris in Chapter 8, causing him to be killed by the Wendigo. This trophy requires an earlier choice to damage Ashley’s trust in Chris. Chapter 6: During the gun trap, Chris must choose to shoot Ashley instead of himself. The gun is loaded with blanks, so Ashley survives, but she definitely remembers the gesture. Understandably. Chapter 8: Emily must be bitten by the Wendigo in the mines. Later, Chris will head back outside and eventually be chased by a Wendigo toward the lodge. Successfully complete the chase so Chris reaches the front door alive. When Chris begs to be let inside, Ashley will refuse to open the door because of what happened during the Chapter 6 gun trap. Chris will be killed by the Wendigo, and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Make sure Chris survives the entire Chapter 8 chase. If he dies before reaching the lodge, you will not get the specific Ashley Snaps outcome.

Warning

The Chapter 6 choice is essential. If Chris does not shoot Ashley, she will let him back into the lodge later and this trophy will not unlock. Apparently Ashley has a very long memory, and Chris picked an extremely bad time to find out.

Trophy: Blackwood Country

The group respected the wildlife of the mountain

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Respect the wildlife throughout the entire game. This trophy spans the full playthrough, so it is best handled on your first run. The basic rule is simple: if it has fur, feathers, antlers, or looks like it would be happier if you left it alone, leave it alone. Prologue: Successfully complete the Don’t Move event involving the deer. Chapter 1: When Chris uses the gun at the shooting range, do NOT shoot the squirrel. During the snowball fight, do NOT hit the bird. Chapter 3: As Mike, comfort the deer instead of killing it. Do NOT hit the tree with the snowball. Chapter 5: When Mike meets the wolf in the chapel, do NOT kick it. Feed the wolf using the bones from the box in the middle of the chapel. Chapter 6: As Matt at the cliff, do NOT attack the deer. Chapter 9: Keep the wolf alive throughout the Sanatorium sequence. This also ties into The Skillful Wolf Man. If you respected the wildlife throughout the entire game, the trophy should unlock near the end before the credits.

Tip

This is a great trophy to combine with your everyone-survives playthrough since most of the required choices already fit a cautious route.

Warning

This trophy requires choices spread across the whole game, so missing even one can force another full run. Blackwood Mountain has enough problems already. You do not need to add “angry wildlife” to the list.

Trophy: Don't Scare Jessica To Death

Jessica survived her night of terror

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Keep Jessica alive until dawn in the original PS4 version of Until Dawn. A few early choices can help keep Mike and Jessica on good terms, but the trophy itself only requires Jessica to survive the night. Chapter 3: When Mike finds the Old Mask, choose Show instead of using it to scare Jessica. When you encounter the injured deer, choose Comfort. When Jessica falls during the escape to the cabin, help her back up. Keeping Mike’s relationship with Jessica positive during these scenes is a good idea, and avoiding the mask prank prevents her from falling into the stream and getting angry with him. Chapter 4: When Jessica is dragged away, Mike must reach her quickly. Choose the fastest routes during the chase and successfully complete the QTEs. Jessica needs to still be alive when Mike reaches her at the elevator shaft. Chapter 10: When Jessica reappears in the mines, choose Hide whenever possible and successfully complete the required QTEs so she can escape safely. If Jessica survives until the end of the game, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This fits perfectly into your They All Live or Four Daughters of Darkness playthrough, since Jessica needs to survive for both of those routes as well.

Warning

This trophy is exclusive to the original PS4 version and is not part of the PS5 remake trophy list. Jessica spends half the night getting thrown off cliffs, dragged through windows, and chased through mines. Keeping her alive is basically Until Dawn’s version of handling a package marked “FRAGILE.”

Trophy: Drag Me Through Hell

Mike saved Jessica from an unknown attacker without failing a quick time event

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Save Jessica during the Chapter 4 chase without failing a QTE. After Jessica is taken from the cabin, Mike will immediately chase after her through the woods. Whenever you are given a choice between safer and faster routes, choose the Risky Path options. These are the quickest routes and give Mike the best chance of reaching Jessica in time. You must also successfully complete every QTE during the chase. If Mike reaches Jessica quickly enough without failing any QTEs, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Stick with every Risky Path option. This is not the time for Mike to suddenly discover a healthy appreciation for personal safety.

Warning

Do not miss a QTE during the chase. If you make a mistake, reload and retry the sequence before moving too far forward.

Trophy: Four Daughters Of Darkness

All of the girls survived until dawn

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Keep all four female protagonists alive until dawn in the original PS4 version of Until Dawn. The four characters who must survive are Sam, Ashley, Emily, and Jessica. The male characters do not need to survive for this trophy, so Chris, Mike, Matt, and Josh can all meet very unfortunate ends without affecting it. The trophy will unlock once you finish the game with Sam, Ashley, Emily, and Jessica still alive.

Tip

This can be combined with a broader survival run, especially if you are already aiming to keep most or all of the cast alive.

Warning

This trophy is specific to the original 2015 PS4 version of Until Dawn. It is not part of the PS5 remake trophy list. Four women survive the night. Everyone else? Apparently negotiable.

Four Daughters Of Darkness PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Instant Inferno

Sam immediately flicked the switch to set the lodge ablaze

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Sam immediately run to the switch during the final lodge sequence in Chapter 10. Near the end of the game, Sam and Mike will be trapped inside the lodge with the Wendigos. Successfully complete the first few Don’t Move events until Mike breaks the light bulb and Sam gets a choice. When prompted, choose Run to Switch instead of trying to save Mike. Sam will immediately flip the switch, causing the lodge to explode with Mike and anyone else still inside. The trophy will then unlock.

Tip

You can use Chapter Select after finishing the game to replay Chapter 10 and grab this without doing another full playthrough.

Warning

Running straight to the switch can kill Mike and any other characters who have not escaped the lodge yet, so do not choose this during your They All Live run. Sam sees a giant switch labeled “explode everything” and, for once, the trophy list actively encourages pressing it.

Trophy: Just Breathe

Emily or Matt used the flare gun to successfully defend themselves against an attacker

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have either Emily or Matt use the flare gun to successfully defend themselves against a Wendigo. There are two ways to earn this trophy. Emily Route: In Chapter 6, pick up the flare gun at the top of the radio tower and keep it with Emily. If she still has it in Chapter 8, she will use it against the Wendigo and the trophy will unlock. This is the easiest route. Matt Route: In Chapter 5, Matt must disagree with Emily’s idea. This is important because if he agrees, he may use the flare gun too early. In Chapter 6, have Emily give the flare gun to Matt. When the radio tower collapses, choose Save Emily twice. Matt will then use the flare gun to defend himself from the Wendigo, unlocking the trophy.

Tip

Emily’s route is the simplest if you are only focused on this trophy.

Warning

If Emily uses the flare gun, she will avoid being bitten, which prevents you from earning Talk to eM during that playthrough. If you want both trophies efficiently, let Matt handle the flare gun instead. Apparently the real horror on Blackwood Mountain is realizing one perfectly reasonable survival decision just ruined a completely different trophy.

—
Just Breathe PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Let eM In

Mike allowed Emily to stay in the basement

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Choose not to shoot Emily during the basement confrontation in Chapter 8. For this scene to happen, Emily needs to be bitten by the Wendigo during her escape through the mines. Chapter 6: Make sure Emily does not keep or successfully use the flare gun later. If she uses it against the Wendigo, she can avoid the bite and this trophy opportunity may not appear. Chapter 8: During Emily’s escape through the mines, allow her to be bitten by the Wendigo. Later, when everyone gathers in the lodge basement, Mike will panic after seeing Emily’s bite and point a gun at her. When you are given the choice, do not shoot Emily. You can either actively choose not to shoot or let the timer expire. Mike will lower the gun, Emily will survive the confrontation, and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is the better choice for your everyone-survives playthrough and also sets you up for Talk to eM if the following scene plays out correctly.

Warning

If Mike shoots Emily, you will get the opposite outcome instead. One button press is the difference between “reasonable restraint” and “well, that escalated quickly.”

Trophy: Lodge Fever

Both Matt and Emily started separate confrontations in the lodge

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Trigger both Matt and Emily’s separate confrontations in the lodge. This one starts setting itself up before the actual argument, so make sure you choose the right options in Chapters 1 and 2. Chapter 1: As Ashley, choose Encourage when Matt has the opportunity to use the glasses. Chapter 2: When Matt confronts Mike, choose Challenge, then choose Apologize. Later, when Emily and Jessica start arguing, choose either Provoke Jessica or Defuse Emily to keep the confrontation going. If both confrontations play out correctly, the trophy should unlock after the argument.

Tip

The Chapter 1 setup matters, so don’t skip it if you are specifically going for this trophy.

Warning

If you shut the argument down too early, you can miss the trophy. Apparently peacekeeping is not rewarded at this lodge.

—
Lodge Fever PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Nightmare on Ash Street

Ashley hesitated and failed to let Chris inside in time

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Ashley refuse to open the lodge door for Chris in Chapter 8. This trophy depends on a choice you make earlier in the game, so you need to set it up correctly first. At the end of Chapter 6, Chris must choose to shoot Ashley. In Chapter 8, Chris needs to survive the chase through the woods and successfully complete the QTEs. During the chase, shoot the Wendigos or the explosive barrels when prompted. Either option works as long as Chris makes it back to the lodge. Once Chris reaches the door, Ashley will remember that whole “you shot me” situation and decide she is suddenly very busy not opening it. Chris will be killed outside, and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

During the Chapter 8 chase, focus on simply surviving and reaching the lodge. Shooting either the Wendigos or the explosive barrels is fine.

Warning

If Chris does not shoot Ashley in Chapter 6, she will open the door for him in Chapter 8 and this trophy will not unlock. This is one of those choices where Until Dawn keeps the receipt.

Trophy: One Hour Selfie

Take a bad selfie with Jessica

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Take a deliberately bad selfie with Jessica in Chapter 2. While Mike and Jessica are heading away from the lodge, Jessica will stop and ask Mike to take a selfie. When the camera comes up, point it away from them and take a picture of pretty much anything else. A tree, the scenery, the void where Mike’s photography skills should be — all valid options. Once you take a sufficiently terrible selfie, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Don’t overthink this one. Just make sure Mike and Jessica are not properly framed in the shot.

Trophy: Only Others Left Alive

Matt and Jessica were the only ones to survive until dawn

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Finish the game with only Matt and Jessica alive. This is best handled on a later playthrough, since it only requires replaying part of the game if Jessica is already alive from your previous run. The goal is very specific: Matt and Jessica survive, and everyone else does not. Romantic? Debatable. Efficient for the trophy list? Absolutely. If Jessica is already alive in your current save path, you can start from Chapter 6 instead of Chapter 4. Chapter 4: During Mike’s chase after Jessica, take every shortcut and successfully complete the QTEs. Jessica must still be alive when she falls down the elevator shaft. Chapter 6: When Matt and Emily are in danger on the collapsing tower, choose Jump to Safety instead of trying to save Emily. During the shooting-game sequence, choose to shoot Ashley. This sets up Chris’s death later. Chapter 8: As Emily during the mine chase, fail the QTEs and do not make the escape choices. She will die in the elevator. As Chris, survive the Wendigo chase through the woods and make it back to the lodge. Because Chris shot Ashley earlier, she will refuse to open the door and Chris will be killed. Chapter 9: As Ashley in the sewers, investigate the suspicious noise. When you reach the trapdoor, open it. Ashley will be killed. Chapter 10: Do not pick up Hannah’s diary, The Twins #20: Scrawled Journal. Without it, Josh will die when you later return to the water. During the final lodge sequence as Sam, fail the QTEs and Don’t Move events so Sam is killed. Mike will eventually sacrifice himself by blowing up the lodge with the Wendigos inside. If everything has gone according to this extremely questionable plan, Matt and Jessica will be the only two survivors when dawn arrives and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

If Jessica survived your previous run, starting from Chapter 6 can save a decent amount of time.

Warning

Jessica’s survival is required, so do not fail Mike’s Chapter 4 chase. Also make sure Matt jumps to safety in Chapter 6. Killing either one means the entire run has gone from “Only Others Left Alive” to “Well, That Didn’t Work.”

Trophy: Saw That Coming

Mike sawed his fingers off with the broken machete

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Mike cut off his fingers with the broken machete in Chapter 5. While exploring the abandoned Sanatorium, Mike will eventually pick up a machete near a box with a severed arm sitting on top of it. Because this is Until Dawn and touching suspicious body parts has never gone badly, interact with the arm. This triggers a bear trap around Mike’s hand. Try to open the bear trap. Try to open it a second time. Choose to cut off Mike’s fingers with the machete. Once Mike commits to the very unpleasant solution, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is a good trophy to grab during your alternate-choice or everyone-dies playthrough. Mike is already having a terrible night, so you may as well make it productive.

Warning

You must attempt to open the trap twice before cutting off his fingers. If you escape the situation another way, you will miss the trophy.

—
Saw That Coming PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Scream Too!

Mike cut off his fingers to free himself from the bear trap

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Mike cut off his fingers after getting caught in the bear trap in the original PS4 version of Until Dawn. During Mike’s Sanatorium section, he can get his hand trapped. When given the choice, use the machete to amputate his fingers and free himself. Once Mike commits to the extremely unpleasant solution, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is the PS4 equivalent of the remake trophy Saw That Coming, so if you are covering both versions, this is a good place to call out the name difference.

Warning

This trophy is specific to the original PS4 version. The 2024 PS5 remake uses Saw That Coming for the similar bear-trap sequence. Mike came to Blackwood Mountain for a weekend getaway and somehow ended up performing emergency surgery on himself. Five-star accommodations.

Scream Too! PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: Talk to eM

Emily slapped Ashley after the truth was revealed

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Emily slap Ashley in Chapter 8 after the truth about Emily’s bite is revealed. This trophy requires a few specific choices during Chapter 8. During Emily’s chase through the mines, make sure she gets bitten. This will happen automatically as long as she does not have or use the flare gun. When the group later takes refuge in the basement, Mike will point a gun at Emily. Do NOT shoot Emily. Ashley will then read the book on the table and discover the truth. Choose Reassure so Ashley shares what she learned with everyone. Emily will respond by slapping Ashley, and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is a good one to combine with your everyone-survives route since Emily must stay alive through the basement scene anyway.

Warning

If Emily avoids being bitten, if Mike shoots her, or if Ashley does not share the truth, this scene will not play out correctly. Until Dawn really does make you work surprisingly hard for one slap.

Trophy: The Exorcism of Emily

Mike shot Emily

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Mike shoot and kill Emily in the basement during Chapter 8 after she has been bitten by a Wendigo. This trophy requires a specific setup so Emily reaches the basement with the bite. Chapter 6: Make sure Emily does not have the flare gun available for her later encounter with the Wendigo. You can either have Matt keep it or make sure Emily uses it earlier so she cannot defend herself with it in Chapter 8. Chapter 8: During Emily’s escape through the mines, allow the Wendigo to bite her. Later, when everyone returns to the lodge basement, the group will discover Emily’s bite and understandably react with the calm, measured reasoning you would expect from people who have spent the entire night being hunted. Mike will eventually point a gun at Emily. Choose Shoot. Mike will kill Emily, and the trophy will unlock after the group reads the journal and discovers that Wendigo bites are not infectious.

The Exorcism of Emily PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: The Psycho Path

Sam or Ashley attacked the Psycho with a weapon

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Attack the Psycho with a weapon as either Sam or Ashley. You have two good opportunities to earn this one. As Sam in Chapter 5: When you encounter the Psycho in the cinema room, choose Throw Vase. Sam will launch it at him and the trophy should unlock. Nice, simple, and probably very satisfying in the moment. As Ashley in Chapter 6: Find Mystery Man Clue #19, the Lightbulb Catalogue. Picking it up gives Ashley access to the scissors. Later in the chapter, she can use them to attack the Psycho.

Tip

Sam’s Chapter 5 option is the easiest route because it only requires one choice and does not depend on finding a clue first.

Warning

If you skip both attack opportunities, you’ll need to replay the relevant chapter. Apparently running away screaming is not aggressive enough for this trophy.

The Psycho Path PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: The Quicker Man

All the boys escaped death

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Keep all four male protagonists alive until dawn in the original PS4 version of Until Dawn. The required survivors are Mike, Chris, Matt, and Josh. Mike: Keep Mike alive through the Sanatorium and the final lodge sequence. Chris: During the Chapter 6 gun trap, choose to shoot yourself or do nothing instead of shooting Ashley. Later, make sure Chris survives the Wendigo chase and gets back inside the lodge safely. Matt: Do not attack the deer in Chapter 6. When the fire tower collapses, choosing Jump to Safety is the safest route for keeping him alive. Later in the mines, stay hidden and complete the required survival sequences. Josh: Make sure the required Twins clues are found so Josh can recognize what happened to Hannah. This allows him to survive his final encounter rather than being killed. If Mike, Chris, Matt, and Josh are all still alive when the game ends, The Quicker Man will unlock.

Tip

This can be earned alongside They All Live, so keeping the entire cast alive will also take care of The Quicker Man and Four Daughters of Darkness in the same run.

Warning

This trophy is exclusive to the original 2015 PS4 version and was removed from the 2024 remake. Four guys surviving an Until Dawn vacation should not feel like an achievement, but after one night on Blackwood Mountain, frankly they deserve the Gold.

—
The Quicker Man PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: The Skillful Wolf Man

Mike kept the wolf alive throughout the Sanatorium

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Keep Mike’s wolf companion alive throughout the Sanatorium. Your friendship begins in Chapter 5, and apparently surviving a nightmare-filled abandoned sanatorium is easier when you bring snacks. When Mike first encounters the wolf in Chapter 5, do NOT kick it. Continue through the Sanatorium until you reach the chapel. Find the box of bones in the middle of the chapel and feed one to the wolf. Congratulations, Mike now has the best friend on Blackwood Mountain. In Chapter 9, Mike will meet the wolf again during his return to the Sanatorium. Successfully complete the QTEs during the escape and shoot the Wendigos whenever you are given the opportunity. Near the end of the chase, choose BARRICADE instead of ESCAPE. If you successfully protect the wolf throughout the entire sequence, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Tip: Choosing BARRICADE near the end of Chapter 9 is especially important because it gives the wolf enough time to escape safely.

Warning

Do not kick the wolf during the Chapter 5 encounter. Besides ruining this trophy route, doing so will also interfere with Blackwood Country. Missing important QTEs or failing to protect the wolf during Chapter 9 can also cause it to die. Successfully making it through the Chapter 9 Sanatorium sequence will also put you in position to earn An American Survivor in Canada. One terrifying hospital trip, two trophies. Mike would probably still prefer a refund.

The Skillful Wolf Man PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: They All Live

All eight friends survived until dawn

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Keep all eight friends alive until dawn. This is best done on your first full playthrough, since it requires surviving the entire game with everyone still breathing by morning. In general, succeed at QTEs, pass Don’t Move events, and avoid the major choices that can get someone killed. Until Dawn gives you plenty of chances to make one tiny mistake and turn the lodge into a very awkward memorial service. Chapter 4: During the chase after Jessica, always choose the fastest route and successfully complete every QTE. Jessica must still be alive when she falls down the elevator shaft. Chapter 5: When Emily suggests going to the radio tower, disagree with the plan. The group will still go, but this helps set things up so Matt can later get access to the flare gun. Chapter 6: As Matt, do not attack the deer. Make sure Matt gets the flare gun. When the fire tower collapses, choose Jump to Safety. The flare gun will help protect Matt from the Wendigo. During the shooting-game sequence, choose to shoot Chris. Chapter 7: As Emily during the mine chase, choose Hide near the end of the sequence. Be ready for a Don’t Move event immediately afterward. Chapter 8: As Ashley in the sewers, you can investigate the suspicious noise, but if you do, do NOT open the trapdoor. Curiosity is fine. Opening ominous trapdoors in horror games is where we draw the line. Chapter 10: As Sam, make sure you collect Hannah’s diary, The Twins #20: Scrawled Journal. This changes Josh’s fate so he survives the night. When Matt reunites with Jessica in the mines, choose Hide whenever possible and successfully complete the QTEs and Don’t Move events. During the final lodge sequence as Sam, choose Save Mike, then continue hiding until everyone else has escaped. Sam should be the last person to leave the lodge. If all eight friends survive through the ending, They All Live will unlock.

Tip

Treat the Don’t Move events in Chapter 10 like the controller suddenly became a priceless museum artifact. Put it down steady, breathe, and do absolutely nothing heroic.

Warning

Several choices made hours earlier can affect whether someone survives later, so this trophy is easy to lose without realizing it immediately. Jessica’s Chapter 4 chase, Matt’s flare gun setup, Hannah’s diary, and the final lodge sequence are especially important.

They All Live PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: This Is THE End

Nobody survived until dawn

Type: Gold

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Make sure nobody survives until dawn. This is best saved for a second playthrough, since you only need to replay roughly half the game if your earlier choices line up. The goal is simple: every playable survivor has to die before morning. Blackwood Mountain asked for a reunion and apparently meant a very permanent one. Chapter 6: As Matt, when the fire tower collapses, choose Save Emily twice. Matt will fall and be attacked by a Wendigo. If you have the flare gun, do not use it to save him. During the shooting-game sequence, shoot Ashley. This choice affects Chris later and sets up his death at the lodge. Chapter 8: As Emily during the mine chase, fail the QTEs and avoid making the escape choices. She will eventually be killed at the elevator. As Chris, survive the Wendigo encounter in the woods long enough to reach the lodge. Because of the earlier choice involving Ashley, she will refuse to let him inside, killing him and also earning Nightmare on Ash Street. Chapter 9: As Ashley in the sewers, investigate the strange noise. When you reach the trapdoor, open it. This kills Ashley and also earns You Let The Wrong One In! Chapter 10: Do not collect Hannah’s diary, The Twins #20: Scrawled Journal. Without that clue, Josh will die after returning to the water. When playing as Jessica in the mines, you will eventually get the choice to Run or Hide. Do nothing and allow the Wendigo to kill her. During the final lodge sequence as Sam, fail the QTEs and Don’t Move events so she is killed. With everyone else gone, Mike will sacrifice himself by destroying the lodge with the Wendigos inside. Once the final survivor is dead and the ending plays out, This Is THE End will unlock.

Tip

This run is a good time to combine several alternate-choice trophies, including Nightmare on Ash Street and You Let The Wrong One In!, so you can turn one spectacularly terrible night into efficient Platinum progress.

Warning

Do not pick up Hannah’s diary in Chapter 10. Finding it changes Josh’s fate and can ruin the all-dead ending. Also be careful not to accidentally save Jessica or Sam near the end. This is the one playthrough where being good at QTEs is actively working against you.

Trophy: We Need To Talk About Josh

Achieved the best ending for Josh

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Achieve the best possible ending for Josh. This trophy requires choices across the entire game, so it is best combined with your They All Live playthrough. You need to keep everyone alive, maintain positive relationships with Josh, and consistently choose compassionate or remorseful responses when the game gives you the opportunity. Basically, everyone needs to treat Josh like a person instead of adding even more fuel to the Blackwood Mountain emotional bonfire. Prologue: During the Dr. Hill session, choose Discomfort, Scarecrow, No, and I Would Feel Alone. Chapter 2: As Chris, choose Worried, then Agree twice when speaking with Josh. As Mike, choose Respectful after finding the police tape. As Sam in the basement with Josh, choose Flattering, Confident, Protest, Accuse, and Heroic. Successfully complete the high-five QTE with Josh after restarting the generator. During the Dr. Hill session, choose Yes, Loyalty, and Loyalty. Chapter 3: During the spiritism session as Ashley, choose Serious, Clarify, Beth or Hannah, Apologize, and Clarify. As Chris, after finding Mystery Man Clue #9 in the library, choose Protective. Your choices during the Dr. Hill session in this chapter do not matter for the trophy. Chapter 4: As Chris, choose to save Josh instead of Ashley. During the Dr. Hill session, choose No, What Do You Want?, You Scare Me, and You Are Real. Chapter 5: As Sam, do not attack the Psycho with the vase in the cinema room. Chapter 6: As Ashley, choose Sympathetic when speaking with Chris. If Ashley has the scissors, do not use them to attack the Psycho. Chapter 7: As Chris while with Josh and Mike, choose Dismiss, Angry, Defensive, and Disarm Mike. Chapter 8: During the Dr. Hill session, choose They Hurt Me and I’m Sorry. Afterward, check the A Second Chance Butterfly Effect. It should show that Josh was remorseful about his actions. Chapter 10: As Sam, find Hannah’s diary, The Twins #20: Scrawled Journal. This prevents Josh from dying later. If everything has been set up correctly, Josh will be shown alive during the ending and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Combine this with They All Live so you can work toward both trophies in the same playthrough. Check the A Second Chance Butterfly Effect in Chapter 8; seeing that Josh was remorseful is a very useful sign that your choices are still on track.

Warning

This trophy depends on decisions made throughout the entire game, so a wrong relationship or dialogue choice early on can affect the ending much later. Hannah’s diary in Chapter 10 is also essential. After all that work repairing everyone’s relationship with Josh, forgetting one journal would be a particularly cruel way to lose the trophy.

Trophy: When a Psycho Calls

Sam escapes from the Psycho

Type: Silver

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Escape from the Psycho as Sam in Chapter 5. For Sam to even have a chance at escaping, Chris must NOT shoot the squirrel in Chapter 1. That tiny decision comes back later because Until Dawn apparently believes squirrels should have long-term consequences. During Sam’s chase in Chapter 5, use this route: In the cinema room, choose Run or attack the Psycho with the vase. Throwing the vase will also earn The Psycho Path. Choose Jump. Choose Run. Choose Force or Pull. Choose Hide. Complete the required QTEs along the way and Sam should successfully escape the Psycho, unlocking the trophy.

Tip

If you picked up the bat in Chapter 2, you can use it during the chase. It still counts toward escaping, even though it does not unlock a separate trophy.

Warning

Do not shoot the squirrel in Chapter 1. If you do, Sam will not be able to complete this escape route later. Turns out the real mastermind was woodland karma.

Trophy: You Let The Wrong One In!

Ashley or Chris opened the trap door

Type: Bronze

Category: Missable

Unlock Details

Have Ashley or Chris open the trapdoor in Chapter 9. There are two ways to earn this trophy, and both involve investigating the suspicious noise in the sewers. Because obviously, when you hear something strange underground in a horror game, the smart move is to go check it out. Ashley Route: At the start of the sewer section, choose Reassure when Ashley is talking to Chris. When Ashley becomes separated from the group, choose Investigate the Noise instead of Rejoin the Group. Follow the path until you reach the trapdoor, then open it. Ashley will be killed, and the trophy will unlock. Chris Route: At the start of the sewer section, choose Inquire when Ashley is talking to Chris. When Ashley becomes separated from the group, choose Investigate the Noise and open the trapdoor. Later, when playing as Chris, choose Investigate the Noise again and open the trapdoor. Chris will be killed, and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

The Ashley route is the simpler option since it gets the trophy done immediately without needing to carry the setup forward to Chris.

Warning

Opening the trapdoor kills the character involved, so do not do this during your Everyone Survives playthrough. The mysterious voice is not offering snacks.

Trophy: An Omen?

The group found all 36 totems on the mountain

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 36 Totems scattered across Blackwood Mountain. Totems are one of five collectible types in Until Dawn, alongside The Twins clues, 1952 clues, Mystery Man clues, and Interactables. Since you will be exploring the same areas for all of them, the cleanest approach is to collect everything during one dedicated playthrough. Blackwood Mountain is dangerous enough without voluntarily coming back because you forgot one tiny wooden statue. A few choices are important if you want access to every collectible in a single run: In Chapter 1, as Chris, do NOT shoot the squirrel. In Chapter 5, Sam must successfully escape the Psycho. In Chapter 7, during Emily’s chase, choose Hide at the end of the passageway and complete the following Don’t Move event. In Chapter 9, as Ashley in the sewers, choose to investigate the noise. There is a collectible in the area, but be careful with what you interact with afterward.

Tip

Do your Totems, clues, and Interactables together during the same playthrough. You will naturally make progress toward The Tale of The Two Sisters, You Opened Their Eyes, The Fateful Descent, It’s Shining, Carnival of Solitude, and Patient Sematary at the same time. One enormous collectible sweep is much better than five separate vacations to Murder Mountain.

Warning

Several collectibles depend on earlier choices or routes being available. In particular, do not shoot the squirrel in Chapter 1, make sure Sam escapes the Psycho in Chapter 5, choose Hide during Emily’s Chapter 7 chase, and investigate the noise as Ashley in Chapter 9. Missing the setup for one of these areas can prevent you from collecting everything in a single run.

Trophy: Carnival of Solitude

Shake the Snow Globe

Type: Bronze

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find the Snow Globe as Sam in Chapter 7 and shake it. Sam must successfully escape the Psycho earlier in the game to access this collectible, so make sure you have already completed the requirements for When a Psycho Calls. In Chapter 7, explore the room next to Sam’s and find the Snow Globe. Interact with it and shake it to unlock the trophy. The Snow Globe also counts as one of the new Interactable items, so this will also contribute toward It’s Shining.

Tip

Grab this during your main collectible run so you can make progress toward two trophies at once. Efficient trophy hunting with a tiny decorative snowstorm.

Carnival of Solitude PlayStation trophy artwork

Trophy: It’s Shining

Find all the new interactables across Blackwood Mountain

Type: Silver

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all of the new Interactable items scattered across Blackwood Mountain. These special interactable objects are found throughout the game and need to be collected as part of a full collectible run. Some of them are tied to their own trophies, including the Snow Globe for Carnival of Solitude and the Odd Figurine for Patient Sematary, so working through the full set will naturally earn progress toward several trophies at once.

Tip

Treat the Interactables just like the clue and Totem sets and collect them during your main exploration run. It is much nicer to grab everything as you go than to return later because one shiny object was hiding in a dark corner.

Warning

You need the complete set for the trophy to unlock. Missing one means another sightseeing trip around Blackwood Mountain, and the brochure definitely undersold the local wildlife.

Trophy: Night of the Totem Hunter

The group found all the totems on the mountain

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find all 30 Totems in the original PS4 version of Until Dawn. There are five Totem types, with six of each scattered across Blackwood Mountain: Death Totems Guidance Totems Danger Totems Fortune Totems Loss Totems That makes 30 Totems total. Each type gives you a different kind of vision or warning, from possible deaths to helpful hints and glimpses of better outcomes. Collect all 30 and the trophy will unlock.

Tip

Grab Totems as part of your main collectible run instead of leaving them for cleanup. Blackwood Mountain is already unpleasant enough without making a return trip because you missed one wooden fortune cookie.

Warning

This trophy is specific to the original PS4 version. The 2024 remake expands the Totem set to 36 and uses the An Omen? trophy instead.

Mike picked up the odd figurine

Type: Bronze

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Pick up the Odd Figurine as Mike in Chapter 9. During Mike’s return to the Sanatorium, you can find the Odd Figurine among the collectible interactables in the area. Pick it up to unlock the trophy. This figurine also counts toward the Interactable collection, so if you are doing a full collectible run, you will likely earn this naturally along the way.

Tip

Grab this during your first collectible-focused playthrough so you can knock out progress toward It’s Shining at the same time. Two birds, one creepy little figurine.

Trophy: The Fateful Descent

The group found all the clues from the 1952 Clueline

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find every clue in the 1952 Clueline. These clues are tied to the 1952 mine accident and are found mainly throughout the mines. Together, they reveal what happened to the miners who became trapped underground and fill in one of the darker parts of Blackwood Mountain’s history. Search the mine areas carefully and interact with every 1952 clue you find. You’ll need the full set for the trophy to unlock.

Tip

The 1952 clues are especially useful for understanding what happened on the mountain before the events of the game. They also make wandering around the mines slightly less confusing. Slightly.

Warning

Make sure you collect the entire 1952 set before finishing your collectible run. One missing clue is all it takes to turn a clean Platinum route into another trip underground.

Trophy: The Tale of The Two Sisters

The group found all the clues from the Twins Clueline

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find every clue in The Twins Clueline. These clues focus on Hannah and Beth Washington and help piece together what happened after their fall during the prologue. You’ll find them scattered across Blackwood Mountain and throughout the mines. Explore carefully and interact with every Twins-related clue you come across. You’ll need the complete set for the trophy to unlock.

Tip

The Twins clues are worth reading as you collect them instead of just grabbing them and running off. They fill in a lot of the story surrounding Hannah and Beth and make some later discoveries hit a little harder.

Warning

Make sure you collect every clue during your collectible run. Missing even one means Blackwood Mountain successfully keeps another family secret from you.

Trophy: You Opened Their Eyes

The group found all the clues from the Mystery Man Clueline

Type: Gold

Category: Collectible

Unlock Details

Find every clue in the Mystery Man Clueline. These clues focus on the Mystery Man, the hunter tracking Wendigos around Blackwood Mountain. His notes and belongings explain more about the creatures, where they came from, and how they can be dealt with. Explore carefully and interact with every Mystery Man clue you come across. You’ll need the complete set for the trophy to unlock.

Tip

These clues are worth reading as you collect them because they explain a lot of the rules behind the Wendigos. In a game where knowing the rules can be the difference between surviving and becoming mountain decoration, that information is pretty useful.

Warning

Missing even one clue will prevent the trophy from unlocking, so make sure you finish the full Mystery Man set during your collectible run.

Trophy: Fatal Destination

Despite Dr. Hill’s warning, you tried changing the past

Type: Silver

Category: Misc

Unlock Details

Complete the game once to unlock The Cabin in the Blackwoods, then replay the Prologue and make different choices from your original run. You only need to change the past enough for the game to recognize that you tried to alter what happened. Examples include choosing different options during moments such as waking Josh or going to help, following the noise or the footsteps, or letting go versus dropping Hannah. Once you finish the Prologue with different choices and return to Dr. Hill, the trophy will unlock.

Tip

This is best saved for post-game cleanup. After everything else Until Dawn puts you through, replaying the Prologue feels almost relaxing. Almost.

Warning

You must have completed the game first. Simply replaying the Prologue before earning The Cabin in the Blackwoods will not unlock the trophy.
