Osquio Boss Guide

Osquio is one of the toughest optional encounters found in Verso's Drafts. As Esquie's evil cousin, he combines heavy damage, fast attack chains, and dangerous status effects into a lengthy two-phase boss battle.

Fortunately, once you learn his attack patterns and prepare for the final Gradient Counter, the encounter becomes much more manageable.

Where To Find Osquio

Osquio lives inside the Root of All Evil, a special area located within Verso's Drafts.

After reaching the Reverie Path, continue toward the nearby Gestral merchant. Looking beyond the merchant, you'll spot the entrance to Osquio's domain.

Use the train to reach the area and continue forward until you arrive at an expedition flag. Beyond the flag is a staircase leading directly to the boss arena.

Approaching the arena triggers a cutscene and begins the fight.

Phase 1 Strategy

During the first phase, Osquio primarily relies on long attack strings and heavy physical damage.

Many of his attacks contain delayed hits designed to catch players who dodge too early. Focus on learning the rhythm of his combos instead of reacting to the first animation.

His rolling attacks and multi-hit fist combinations can deal significant damage, but they are consistent once you've seen them a few times.

As long as your team survives and maintains pressure, Phase 1 is relatively straightforward.

Phase 2 And Barbapapa

The second phase begins when Osquio uses Time For A Spin Spin.

This move removes all debuffs from Osquio and restores his health, effectively resetting the battle.

More importantly, many attacks during Phase 2 apply Barbapapa.

While affected by Barbapapa, your attacks and skills deal only 1 damage.

The fastest way to remove the debuff is by using multi-hit attacks. Single powerful abilities become almost useless while the effect remains active.

Keep dodging consistently and remove Barbapapa immediately whenever it appears.

Watch For Gradient Attacks

Several Phase 2 attacks include Gradient finishers.

One of the most dangerous comes after Osquio's drop kick sequence. After the final hit, he follows up with a Gradient attack that must be countered properly.

Toward the end of the fight, Osquio performs his ultimate attack and attempts to destroy the arena entirely.

This final attack always requires a Gradient Counter.

Do not relax when Osquio's health reaches zero. The battle is not over until the final counter succeeds.

Osquio Rewards

Defeating Osquio rewards some of the best cosmetic and upgrade materials available in Verso's Drafts.

Rewards include upgrade catalysts, Lumina materials, and exclusive Osquio-themed cosmetics.

A merchant also appears near the expedition flag after the fight and sells additional Osquio cosmetics for the rest of the party.

One of the most unique rewards is the Osquio outfit, which changes the character's running animation while equipped.

Best Strategy

  • Learn the timing of Osquio's attack strings instead of panic dodging.
  • Prioritize removing Barbapapa immediately during Phase 2.
  • Save resources for the second phase since Osquio fully heals when it begins.
  • Stay focused after reducing Osquio's HP to zero because the fight ends with a mandatory Gradient Counter.

Rewards

  • Esquiso
  • Perfect Chroma Catalyst x1
  • Grandiose Chroma Catalyst x3
  • Colour of Lumina x10
  • Osquio outfit for Verso
  • Osquio hairstyle for Verso
  • Additional Osquio cosmetics sold by the post-battle merchant

Tips

  • Multi-hit abilities are extremely useful for removing Barbapapa quickly.
  • Don't waste your strongest attacks while Barbapapa is active.
  • Phase 2 is more dangerous than Phase 1, so manage healing and resources accordingly.
  • Missing the final Gradient Counter can cost you the entire fight, even after victory seems guaranteed.
