How To Unlock The Grand Lift Of Dectus
The Grand Lift Of Dectus is one of the two main routes into the Altus Plateau in Elden Ring. Instead of climbing through the dangerous Ruin-Strewn Precipice, you can activate the lift directly by collecting both halves of the Dectus Medallion.
This is one of the fastest and safest ways to access the mid-game regions early.
Dectus Medallion Left Location
The Dectus Medallion Left is found inside Fort Haight in eastern Limgrave.
To reach it:
- Travel southeast through Mistwood
- Enter Fort Haight
- Fight or run past the enemies
- Climb the ladders to the tallest tower
- Open the chest at the top
Inside the chest is the left half of the medallion.
Dectus Medallion Right Location
The Dectus Medallion Right is found inside Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow, an extremely dangerous area in eastern Caelid.
To get it safely:
- Enter Fort Faroth
- Sprint past the bats and enemies
- Reach the ladder in the back section
- Climb to the upper floor
- Open the chest directly ahead
The chest contains the right half of the medallion.
This area is much higher level than Limgrave, so avoiding combat is usually the safest option for early-game characters.
Grand Lift Of Dectus Location
After obtaining both medallion halves:
- Travel to northeastern Liurnia Of The Lakes
- Reach the Grand Lift Of Dectus Site Of Grace
- Walk up the stairs onto the lift platform
- Approach the statues at the center
A new interaction prompt appears once both medallion halves are in your inventory.
Select:
- “Hoist Medallion”
A cutscene then activates the lift and transports you to the Altus Plateau.
Why The Lift Matters
Unlocking the Grand Lift Of Dectus gives access to:
- Altus Plateau
- Mid-game questlines
- Stronger upgrade materials
- New bosses
- Advanced weapon and spell options
Many important NPC questlines and major story progression routes begin opening up after reaching this region.
Alternative Route To Altus Plateau
If you do not have both medallion halves, you can still reach the Altus Plateau by climbing through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
However, the lift route is usually much faster and far less dangerous once the medallions are collected.

Rewards
- Access to the Altus Plateau
- Faster progression into mid-game content

How To Defeat Margit The Fell Omen In Elden Ring
To defeat Margit The Fell Omen in Elden Ring, you should ideally be around level 25 with a weapon upgraded to at least +3. Prioritize leveling Vigor, use Spirit Ashes like the Lone Wolves or Spirit Jellyfish, and summon Sorcerer Rogier outside the boss gate for extra pressure.
Margit is designed to punish panic rolling with delayed attacks, so wait until his weapon actually starts swinging before dodging. Bleed weapons like the Uchigatana or Reduva work extremely well and can remove huge chunks of his health quickly.

During Phase 1, roll into his axe swings instead of backward and jump over his earthquake shockwaves. In Phase 2, stay close during his fire breath attacks to avoid damage and punish him with free hits while he is locked into long animations.
